Faeries (1981 TV Movie)

Just Wonderful
13 January 2011
I was about 7 when I first saw this CBS special that my mom recorded for me. Years later, I was able to obtain a new VHS of the show. Sadly this classic was never put on DVD so I had it done so I no longer had to worry about the tape getting damaged.

All I can say is that cartoons lack so much these days. This is your classic good vs evil storyline. But what makes it so intriguing, is the characters are based on the book Faeries by Brian Froud, the guy that helped with the Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. The music is wonderful and the ending with the hero fighting the villain is dramatic and intense and keep you on your seat.

I would rate this a 10 but I give it a 9 only because I wish it was longer.

If your lucky to get a copy, have your kids watch it. Should them the good stuff that they missed out on!

The Wolfman (2010)

Best Werewolf Movie of it's time.

In my opinion, this is a well worthy remake of the 41 horror story of a cursed man.

The effects were good. The transformation has to be one of the best newest werewolf effects in a long time. Lawrence turns into a monster not a fake cgi large wolf.

Some people complain the plot is not original but you have to remember this is based on the original classic which didn't have deep plots either, just a great scare with great acting as this remake has done.

The acting was well done too. The only flaws for me is the cgi bear and deer (although their not badly done) and I only wish the movie was longer.

I highly recommend fans of the original to see it and or buy the DVD when it's released.

Great effects but wait for to rent.

Being a fan of the original movie I was thrilled to see the trailer on TV and went to see it with my father the next day it was in theaters.

The effects were wonderfully done, especially Pegasus. I didn't like the horse being black though. I know now a days black is the new heroic white but growing up I always remember seeing the white horse swoop down to take his drink and that ruined it for me.

Also the downside was, that they really changed too much from the original. Things were taken out that I often cherished in the original like how Calubus put a curse on Agost and the Princess. The two headed dog, and the Vulture chase.

When Bubo the owl had a cameo in the 2010 movie. I was also sadden he was not used in the movie. The movie ended as they are thinking of making a sequel but I don't think I will rush to the movies to see it.

I recommend this movie for people that have not seen the 1981 original. It has great effects and a fun movie on those terms but for die hard fans it might be better to rent this later..
