Happy Together (1989)
"Happy Together" maybe, maybe not
If you are after the funny film where a somewhat geeky kid (Patrick Dempsey) meets and falls in love with the popular, beautiful girl (Helen Slater) then give this one a try. It isn't the best film for either actor, but it is cute and watchable.
Patrick Dempsey was riding high from his "Can't Buy Me Love" success. He plays Christopher, a high strung writer who wants to go to college to learn how to write. He gets stuck with the wrong roommate. Really wrong. Number one, they are a party animal. Number two, his roommate is a girl, named Alex (Alexandra really, of course!)! But the situation works for the couple. Over the course of the movie, the two fall for each other over and over. Chris gets his heartbroken by Alex over and over but he comes back for more. Why? Because its true love and that is what this film is all about. It is the classic story of two people meeting, falling in love, and discovering what falling in love with someone else really means for them both.
This film would never win any awards. You will see better work from both actors in many different films. But it is an okay film. If you like either actor, give it a try. It is funny, heart warming, and romantic. Just give it a try. You won't be disappointed!
Meatballs III: Summer Job (1986)
Continuing the "Meatballs" tradition? Not really
If you are a fan of the classic, funny "Meatballs" films, then avoid this one. Overall, it is not a bad film. If you are a Patrick Dempsey fan (Dr. McDreamy from the ABC drama "Grey's Anatomy") then you should check out this film. It is Mr. Dempsey as a horny young teenager and he looks every bit the part. Actually the only good part of this film overall is Patrick's performance. He is good as the young and very horny 15-year-old, Rudy.
Remember Rudy from "Meatballs" the first movie with Bill Murrary? Well he's back. This time his summer mission is to finally lose his virginity. Not an easy task for a geeky teenager. But, thanks to a little porn-star fairy godmother, Rudy gets some tips to help him clean up his geeky act which should finally get him some action. It doesn't get him the action but it does clean him up.
Overall this movies is not terrible. It is a little limited in the script. It is kind of predictable in the plot and subject. However, if you are interested, I suggest checking out this film. It is good, just don't expect too much. It is not done like the classic "Meatballs" films, but it is still watchable. Like I said, if you like Patrick Dempsey, check it out. He gives a good performance and makes this film more watchable. If nothing else, enjoy him as a younger kid!
Rancid Aluminium (2000)
Seen Better in Fiennes
This movie wasn't the worst I've ever seen but its my least favorite Joseph Fiennes film. In my opinion, Joe did an okay job keeping this film together. His accent was great as was the other actors. However, the real story in the film just isn't there. Its kind of hard to get down to what is really going on. If you like Joe a lot, check it out. If not, move past. Its not worth the money to rent or buy.
Forever Mine (1999)
Forever Classic
SPOILER!!!! A classic story of love between a married women and a man below her normal standards. However, with one twist. The evil husband plots to remove his wife's new love but in the end it is he who is erased from the couple's life. Love wins in the end in the classic love story ending.
This film was defined as a awful film with bad performances by English actor, Joseph Fiennes, and American, Ray Liota. However, I found it quite good. The acting abilities of the two men are excellent, especially by Joe Fiennes. Its a shame this film was never given the recognition it deserves. I think it was great!
