A Life Less Ordinary (1997)
this one is a pass
As a recently turned Ewan McGregor fan, I decided to rent ?A Life Less Ordinary? with high hopes of a quality film, especially since it was directed by "Trainspotting"'s Danny Boyle. While the plot of the story is extremely far-fetched, it was good entertainment up until the very end.
Two angels (played by Holly Hunter and Delroy Lindo, an odd combo that works and are the highlights of the movie) must make two people (Cameron Diaz and McGregor) fall in love or else they can never go back to heaven again. I know it is a bit hard to swallow but remember that it is only a movie. Celine, a spoiled rich girl who was kidnapped and held for ransom, is very unlikable, enhanced more by the really bad acting done by Diaz. McGregor, as Robert, a janitor turned kidnapper after being fired and replaced by a robot by Celine?s father, does his best with what he has got. A gun fight, chase scenes, and a bank robbery later, Robert and Celine fall in love. A cheesy romance movie at best but it had to be one of the worst endings ever put together.
If you like Ewan McGregor, watch it or rent "Trainspotting" again. It's so much better. If not, pass this one by and move on.
X2 (2003)
a must-see!!!
X2 is by far one of the best sequels ever put out. It lived to the hype. Singer and company put together an absolutely brilliant movie bringing the comic book characters to life. The best sequence in the movie is the first scene with Nightcrawler. The Rogue-Iceman relationship is definitely a heartbreaker to watch and the Wolverine-Jean Grey-Cyclops love-fest was more developed in this movie.
Here are some things that points I would like to make about the film. Get a new Cyclops. James Marsden can?t act, especially the scene where Jean leaves the plane and he tries to stop her and starts getting upset when she closes the door. Everyone in the theater laughed. Also, there is no chemistry between Marsden and Famke Jennsen (Jean Grey). That makes it hard for those not familiar with the comic book to understand why they were together. Lady Deathstrike was underused. I don?t think she even said a word. It seemed as though she was more of a robot than a human. I?m not staying that Kelly Hu?s acting was bad or anything. She just wasn?t given a chance to act.
2 hours and 15 minutes of great movie watching. Can?t wait for X3!!!
9/10
Summer Catch (2001)
one of the worst movies ever made
ok, so i'm a sucker for cheesy romance movies but "summer catch" is probably the worst thing ever made. the movie introduces partially introduces each character and then all of a sudden, the two main characters are dating. they meet once and then the next time you see them, they know everything about each other. there is no logic behind it. it just happens. at the end, you really don't care what happens just so long as it ends. the acting is horrible, especially jessica biel. freddie prinze jr needs to branch off from these romance flicks and try some real acting.
