The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs (2018)
The Horror Gods Have Answered!
Thank you SHUDDER for giving back to the horror community...reincarnating the horror hosts of old with a horror host of old! Joe Bob lights the nostalgic candles and waxes poetic on all manners of horrors and exploitation like only he can. He's a little more pointed politically, which is a welcomed addition to an already air-tight repertoire of sarcasm, wit, drive-in totals, and commentary. There is nothing better to fall asleep to than the sweet sounds of Joe Bob slinging a diatribe about the sleaze-fest PIECES. Give us more, SHUDDER, for heaven's sake, give us more Joe Bob Briggs!!!!!
Snuff: A Documentary About Killing on Camera (2008)
I hate to break this to you...
...But to all of you doubters out there regarding the authenticity of the pedophile 'snuff' movies, it is hard to argue that the events didn't happen. A couple of reviewers even cite the articles as being referenced by an obscure source. The source is "The Observer". I don't know how to say this delicately but..."The Observer" is the UK's "New York Times". It is one of the most reputable sources in England. As for the reviewer that mentions crop circles...what are you talking about? Are you claiming that "The Observer" is printing the article as a matter of conspiracy? You do know that you can't just throw someone's name out there and associate him with a pedophile ring if it's not true right...? That would be libelous and would cost the newspaper hundreds of thousands of dollars if it was proved to be untrue. I know none of us want to admit that these types of horrific occurrences could happen in the world, but it's another thing to dismiss it entirely. I'm not saying that they do. And, I'm not saying that they don't.
W. (2008)
Biased while dressed in an uncomfortably unbiased suit...
Oliver Stone has been on a steep decline since the 90's and this sad excuse for a biopic represents the end of the slippery slope. All of those pictures of him sitting amongst the real W in the family limo is obviously the reason this film takes a tragic approach to the character in question. Even though the character is painted as an unintelligent, irresponsible boob, it still tries to forgive him with the excuse that it is all a "woe is me" response to being born into such a privileged family. This misguided train wreck is obviously another example of Stone trying to rewrite history, or at least getting the disapproving Bushophiles to feel bad for the worst president in U.S. history. Unfortunately it also tries to forgive Bush's illegal war in Iraq, unethical use of torture, and just plain incompetency. It is an insult to all Americans who voted for him not once, but twice. Stone impressed with his earlier films, especially "Platoon", but with "W", it is obvious he is trying to paint a Shakespearean stroke to an irredeemable leader with whom he has questionable ties. It's not about politics; it's about responsibility, and this is just plain irresponsible film-making. In the film, the Barbara Bush character claims that she likes to look at all sides of an issue. If only Stone had taken his own character's advice...
