Only Hype
17 November 2011
One of the worst movies ever made and came out of Indian cinema. nothing original. copy paste from lot of Hollywood movies. only chamak challo was good. but what was the need of an American singer for this song. VFX was not upto the mark for such kind of production one of the American studios should be backing for the best kind of VFX and to release in the international market with English version as well.

Waste of time and energy and voer acting at the best from SRK and also why he was made such an idiotic guy and why he was supporting such kind of hair cut.

One of the most irritating movie of all time
23 December 2010
Right from the first scene till the end scene the viewers will ask question to themselves what is going on.plain jokes and it looks like the actors were told to deliver the dialogues by themselves as the director couldn't get the dialog writer. plain jokes, over acting over the top performance from each and every actor even the most serious natural and sober actors like akshaye, sudhir and anjan did over acting in this movie. songs boring, no action scenes. no problem, G3 and phir hera pheri which even AK didn't liked were far better movie and entertaining than TMS. why AK backed this project as producer and why farah khan is continuing movies after the crap MHN and OSO.she will never ever become manmohan desai.even her brother should stop making movies.

Advice: don't waste your money and time

3 Idiots (2009)
One of the best movies ever made in the history of Indian cinema
24 December 2009
AK and rajkumar hirani has changed the face on Hindi cinema in this millennium and century. after chal chalein, released this year, 3 idiots is another movie which dealt with the education system, students committing suicide after the results are announced and parents forcing on the students to fulfill their dreams. This movie will be an eye opener to the educationists and parents and I hope they will ask their children's to listen to their hearts and choose their career.I was always against the education system of RAATA culture.

RDB team is back. AK is the emperor of the Indian cinema. He did the hat rick by releasing his movie in the December 21st December 2007 taare zameen par, 25th December 2008 ghajini, 25th December 2009 3 idiots.TZP blockbuster, ghajini all time blockbuster and 3 idiots will sure become the blockbuster. right from lagaan till 3 idiots gave consecutively 8 hits. mind blowing and first of its kind in the whole world and his name should be placed in the Guinness book of world record.

Rest of the cast did excellent, good, likable work and gave their best.

rajkumar hirani like always gave 100 percent and did mind blowing job international director

One of the best movies of all time
25 February 2009
the words for praising this masterpiece will be less everything was perfect right from the cast to the technicalities behind the camera performances good cinematography, set design, background score everything was too good. the minor things were taken care but the evilness in the saddam hussein personality was not explored much and few things were not mentioned i.e. chemical bomb on the kurd and shia and during the war in kuwait he address to the entire world and especially USA that my people can survive on dates and water even if the entire world boycott us

otherwise their was no flaw in filming.

A Wednesday (2008)
The Best Film of the Year - 2008
2 February 2009
This is one of those movies that entertain, gives message and make people think on the current scenario and the conspiracy. One of the finest movies ever made in the history of world cinema.

This movie is without any flaws. Not a single moment where you start feeling bore and wants to fast forward the scene.

The plus point was that the movie was without a single song.

Performance wise everyone has done a perfect job and given their lifetime performances which will be a milestone and hallmark in their career.

Nobody can say that this was the director's directorial debut. He has been credited as the story and screenplay writer as well

A must see movie.

CC2C (2009)
After Tashan one more disappointing movie
20 January 2009
One more disappointment from the King after Tashan. Nikhil Advani has directed one more stupid movie after Salaam-e-Ishq. After watching his last two movies one can easily figure it out that Kal Ho Na Ho was ghost directed by Karan Johar like Ghulam and Lagaan was ghost directed by the Great Amair Khan. Now Nikhil Advani should retire from the film industry. Akshay Kumar should have ghost directed this movie or should have advised Nikhil to stick on one plot and clear yourself that in which genre you want to make this movie. Either comedy or serious revenge drama. While watching this movie sometimes you feel that CC2C is a mindless comedy film and sometimes you realize that it is revenge drama. The director was so confused and arrogant that he didn't took the advice from anyone or from the seniors i.e. Ramesh Sippy, Mithun Chakraborty or Akshay Kumar. don't waste your time in watching this movie or just watch it for Mithun Chakraborty and Akshay Kumar performances. Direction and writing is very poor.

Inspired by the US TV Series 'Sex and the City'
23 December 2006
I have seen this move on 21st of Dec. 2006 on the cable in Pakistan BUT the movie was going to release on 29th of Dec. but has been postponed for one week more means it was finally going to release on 5th of Jan. 2007. Anyway don't watch this movie because all you will get to see the overacting by Rekha, Vasundhra Das and Kim Sharma. Mahima Chaudary was their only to show her cleavage. Ashmit Patel lack of expressions. Only decent performance by Sachin Khedekar but he shouldn't be doing such kind of movies. Direction was not up to the mark. Songs were not soulful. The choreography was just okay. But you will ask yourself that what a legend like rekha is doing in such kind of film. At the end, don't watch this movie Rating: 1 out of 10

Warning: Spoilers
when this movie was launched way back in 1979, it was named 'Swayamsiddha' and 'rakesh roshan' was signed to play the role of Niranjan Pratap Singh which eventually went to Vijayendra Ghatge. The hit unsung Lata 'mujra number .... Thoda reshma lagtaa hai....' created a sensation 21 years later (in 2002) when taken in 'toto' by a Western singer, and later becoming a rage also in India too in its remixed version! Good family movie and 'hema malini' said in one of her interviews that jyoti is one of her favourite movies.

Black (2005)
Black will be remembered as a 'Classic' in days to come
23 April 2005
Black is an unusual and interesting film in idea and visualization. It's a very special film and there is no doubt; Sanjay Leela Bhansali is among the best talents Indian Film Industry has produced.

There have been films like Sadma, Sparsh and Koi Mil Gaya and Sanjay's directorial debut Khamoshi - The Musical, where the protagonists of the films were physically challenged. KHAMOSHI - THE MUSICAL, was a tale of a deaf and dumb couple and their ordinary child. Despite the presence of matinée idols like Salman Khan, Manisha Koirala and Nana Patekar, the film failed.

Black cannot be described in sheer words. It has been handled with extreme kindliness and it does boast of a plot that's rarely attempted on the Indian screen. Before this movie, Gulzar made a movie 'Koshish' in early 70's starring Jaya Bhaduri and Sanjeev Kumar for which they have won the awards.

Michelle McNally (Ayesha Kapur/Rani Mukerji), born to an Anglo-Indian family, is deaf and blind. She is a bright and intelligent girl and she lives in the world of black and this frustrates her because she desires to speak. Therefore, because of her frustration she becomes harsh and cruel on numerous events.

Debraj Sahai (Amitabh Bachchan) is a strange person. He is an alcoholic, a teacher to the deaf and blind children. The principal of the school believes in his ability and sends him to the McNally house to teach Michelle. Debraj's arrival at the McNally home is far from favorable, as he arrives intoxicated, annoyed and impolite. On encountering Michelle, Debraj realizes that the only way to tackle her is to distress her, be violent at times and at the same time, show her the love.

Debraj succeeds and Michelle amazingly learns her first word - Ma. But this is just the beginning. There are several battles to be won. His dreams of Michelle going to a college with students without any disability. But, at this stage, Debraj starts to suffer from Alzheimer. He slowly forgets everything including all words and their meanings. The roles are now reversed!

Sanjay Leela Bhansali explanation of Helen Keller's outstanding life and the role Annie Sullivan played in her life. The real-life story was presented on the big screen in the 1962's Hollywood flick THE MIRACLE WORKER, which starred Patty Duke and Anne Bancroft for which both the performers won the Oscars.

A film like BLACK relies heavily on performances and Bhansali has extracted award-worthy work from practically the entire cast. When you talk of BLACK, it's not just Bachchan or Rani's work you would like to extol, but Shernaz Patel, Nandana Sen, Dhritiman Chaterji and Ayesha Kapur's contribution as well.

International Cinematography by Ravi K. Chandran. Each and every frame is laudable of a great compliment. Omung Kumar has created lively sets for the film. The Shimla shopping mall has been reconstructed to precision in Mumbai. Background music by Monty is apt. BLACK belongs to Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukerji primarily. After Khakee and Dev, this one is his best performance and for this role, he felt that for the last 25 years I have been working in the movies but this is the first time that I have shown such an interest. Bachchan comes up with a performance that he'll always be remembered for!

There's no denying that Rani delivers her best performance to date and her performance in this movie has topped on the number one spot and crossed her early performances i.e. 'Yuva', 'Hum Tum' and 'Veer - Zaara'. Rani has conveyed through expressions exclusively. Here's a performance that should act as a reference guide for all aspiring actors. And yes, she's bound to walk away with all major awards next year as well!

Shernaz Patel is exceptional. Her sequences with Bachchan are awesome. Dhritiman Chaterji is excellent. Nandana Sen impresses in a small but significant role. Ayesha Kapur is first-rate and she should be given a special award next year in every award ceremony. And also Best Perfromances award should be given to Mr. Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukherjee. If Bollywood has to move ahead with time we will be open to experiments like this. A must watch for those who like different cinema. After Lagaan, The Legend Of Bhagat Singh, Kaante, Khakee, this is the movie, which can compete with any Hollywood Movie. Rating: 4 Out Of 5

Mughal-E-Azam (1960)
Today I am very lucky and felt an honored of writing the review for the greatest epic of Indian cinema and biggest Indian film ever which has been hailed as a masterpiece
8 February 2005
The ostentatious look, the unforgettable music, the awesome war scenes, superb performances, the well-known romance between Salim and Anarkalis MUGHAL-E-AZAM will always remain as a point of reference.

After 44 years, this masterpiece has been released after reviving it in color (the original version was 85 percent black and white and 15 percent colour), with an upgraded, contemporary sound system (Dolby Digital).

The Story is about the Ruler Akbar (Prithviraj Kapoor) and Queen Jodha (Durga Khote) give birth to a son, Salim, after years of prayer.

Prince Salim (Dilip Kumar) grows into a commendable combatant. Salim falls in love with court dancer Anarkali (Madhubala). Initially wary of his affections because of the difference in their positions, she soon reciprocates his love.

Akbar finds out about the affair and that creates a rift between the father and son.

It is a must see movie for every moviegoer for its pure canvass, for its majestic framing and not just for being a colorful costume drama, for its romance, for the glorious Sheesh Mahal and also for our fake filmmakers (like karan johar, aditya chopra, nikhil advani, kunal kohli and many others like them) who cannot think beyond Manhattan and singing heroes and have light years to reach this level of film-making.

MUGHAL-E-AZAM is a must for those who have seen it in B & W. Now watch it in color and experience the grandeur. MUGHAL-E-AZAM is a must for todays generation, who, perhaps, may not have watched this classic. Watch this epic and you will realize the difference between the cinema of yore and the cinema of today. MUGHAL-E-AZAM is a must for every moviegoer. Here is a prime example of pure, unadulterated cinema. 4 ½ Out of 5

Veer-Zaara (2004)
Yash Chopra is back after a long time on the directors seat
8 February 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Yash Chopras last release as a director was Dil To Pagal Hain (97). But after watching his latest flick, one wishes that he should take complete retirement from direction. There are so many loopholes in the script and that too is written by his son Aditya Chopra who is very weak in writing right from Dilwale Dulhani a Le Jayenge, Mohabbatein till Veer Zaara.

Some critics like Taran Adarsh are trying to give this waste of time product full marks by giving 4 and a half star and then one wishes that he should stop writing review and praising such films which are full of inaccuracy and he should take a seat back and start doing some other job.

The film is inspired by DDLJ and Henna but again Yash and Aditya Chopra should think that they are not great storytellers like the great Showman Raj and Randhir Kapoor.

Based on the love story of an Indian Air Force Squadron Leader and a Pakistani girl, The story begins with the sorrowful life of Sqdrn. Leader Veer Pratap Singh (Shahrukh Khan) who is in imprisonment in the central Jail of Lahore for the last 22 years. Everybody has forgotten his real name and calls him by the name of Qaidi No. 786. One day a Pakistani lawyer Samiya Sidiqui who is a councilor with the National Human Rights Commission reaches the jail to take up the case of Veer Pratap Singh. Veer Pratap, who has not opened his mouth for the last 20 years, talks to her tracing his past existence. Zaara Hayad Khan (Preity Zinta) is a smart daughter of a strong politician of Pakistan Jahangir Hayat Khan. One day Zaara comes out of home on a journey to India without informing anybody to fulfill her grandmothers last wish. She had promised her grand mother that her last rites would be completed in India in a place of Sikh Pilgrimage called Tirthpur. On way to India, Preity meets with a bus accident and Veer rescues her as a part of his duty. After that, Veer accompanies the lonely Pakistani girl Zaara to complete the last rites of her grand mother and soon they become good friends. Now Veer brings her to his village to introduce her to his uncle Choudhury Sumer Pratap Singh (Amitabh Bachchan) and his wife Hema Malini. Here Choudhury Sumer Pratap Singh is impressed with Zaara as she proposes to open a school for the girls in the village. Before leaving the village Choudhury asks veer to propose Zaara. At the railway station, just when Veer is about to propose to Zaara, her would-be husband Raza Sirazi (Manoj Bajpai) appears on the scene. Soon Zaara returns to Pakistan and Veer returns to duty with the memory of Zaara. Zaara likes turns to love for Veer and just before her Nikah with Raza she discloses her love for Veer. Veer also reaches Pakistan but their union remains a dream. Everybody knows that the political career of Jahangir Hayat Khan (Boman Irani) depends on the marriage of Zaara and Raza. He is not ready to allow the marriage of Veer and Zaara. Because of Jahangir Khan's status Veer and Zaara surrender their love and Zaara agrees to her Nikah with Raza. The plot proceeds with Pakistani police arresting veer on allegations that he is Rajesh Rathode and works for RAW as an intelligence agent. But when Zaara hears about Veers death, she breaks Nikah with Raza and flies to Veers native village to fulfill the dream of Choudhury Sumer Singh. When the case reopens, Samiya Sidiqui is not able to arrange any strong proof to identify Veer. So she moves to India to find a person who can identify Veer Pratap Singh and finally she meets Zaara. It is only then that she is able to convince the judge that Qaidi no. 786 is the Ex - Indian Airforce Officer Veer Pratap Singh and wins against public prosecutor Zakir Ahmed (Anupam Kher). And what happens next leave it. You can guess it by yourself. I cannot recommend you such terrible movie and also not to waste your money on such nastiest film.

There are so many loopholes and here are to name a few: How can one easily get a visa? How could Preity Zinta easily live in Pakistan with the fact that she is an Indian and no I.S.I. or any other government officials are coming investigating her and doing interrogation? The juniors cant see straight into the eyes of seniors like Barrister and in this film Rani Mukherjee easily wins the case.

Yash Chopra even made fun of the Late Madan Mohan by mentioning his name in the film as a music director. It is a mammoth harm to the memory of the maestro. It seems unlikely that the music director could have drummed up the dull, colorless and unexciting Veer Zaara tracks.

When Rani Mukerji knows her client has been falsely implicated for spying and the passport in the police records is false, why can't she contact the passport office in India for her client true identity?

Besides, how can the pilot be assumed dead when no body has been identified? To top it all, how can the Pakistan intelligence services not be aware that the daughter of a leading Pakistani politician lives in his home in India?

The film is set in Lahore (Pakistan) and Punjab (India). There are no mountains on the bus route that link the two. So how could Preity Zinta dangle from a ledge or Shah Rukh Khan supposedly die when the bus plunges into a ravine?

So now you can see there are so many fault in this bad movie.

Veer Zaara is the worst presentation from the Chopra camp. ½ Out of 5

Aitraaz (2004)
After the Box Office dud, Taarzan; the wonder car, Abbas Mustan are back with the bang
8 February 2005
Abbas Mustan are back with the bang and this time with a bold theme which tackles with the issue of sexual harassment, with an exclusive twist by placing the man as a victim and the woman as an aggressor. Till now the moviegoer has witnessed man-sexually-molesting-woman but this time its opposite. It has been inspired by a Hollywood flick DISCLOSURE.

Raj Malhotra (Akshay Kumar), who works for a cell phone company, is popular amongst his circle of friends and work colleagues. But his world comes crashing down when he meets Sonia (Priyanka Chopra) again.

Sonia is an ambitious model with great aspirations. She knows what she wants in life. She is prepared to achieve her goals, whatever the price. Her fundas in life are crystal clear: Nothing shall come in between her wants and desires.

Raj is well aware that Sonia knew only one way to live and that was her way. And one fateful evening, things did not go her way. Sonia brings Raj's world to a screeching halt.

Raj's wife Priya (Kareena Kapoor), once a lawyer herself, is prepared to do anything to protect her husband's honor and dignity.

The deceitful dusk that threatens to put Rajs honor at stake, finds an adamant Priya at the opposing end. And from a content housewife, Priya becomes a woman with a mission that she must accomplish. She is now Rajs partner in more ways than one.

Thrown into this web of deceit is Rajs boss, Ranjit Roy (Amrish Puri), who happens to be Sonias husband. He is a mere pawn in her hands.

The drama has just begun. The court is far from adjourned and what happens next you have to watch by yourself.

Akshays performance in a serious silent role is satisfactory and the audience will sure sympathize with his character. Kareena's part as a wife is impressive. But she fails to make a mark in the role of a lawyer. AITRAAZ belongs to Priyanka Chopra completely. She plays a glamorous role with a gray shade. Priyanka gets an opportunity to bear her claws and she does it with complete understanding of the character. She sneaks her way through the role like an expert, drawing audience hatred the way a magnet collects iron filings.

Paresh Rawal and Anu Kapoor have made their wonderful input to the film as lawyers. A good courtroom drama viewer will see after a long time, after Damini (93). In a long courtroom scene, Paresh Rawal is able to keep the viewers engaged in the proceedings while Anu Kapoor appears in an impressive role after a long time. His last best performance was in Gardish (93). And the same year he started working for zee TVs program Antakshari.

On the whole, AITRAAZ is a well-crafted thriller that meets the expectations in each and every department from story, direction till performances and music. Its a must to see movie. 3 1/2 Out of 5

Elaan (2005)
One more time Sholay (1975) has been revisited
6 February 2005
One more Masala movie released on the same day along with another masala movie Insan. One more time Sholay (1975) has been revisited and that too by Vikram Bhatt whose every movie is plagiarize of a Hollywood pictures and even this time also there are so many scenes which are lifted from different Hollywood products. Even Sholay was a mixture of 2 to 3 Hollywood movies i.e. The Seven Samurai, The magnificent 7, Once upon in a west.

This time the Thakur role is played by Rahul Khanna, Jai and Veeru roles are played by Arjun Rampal and John Abraham and Gabbar role went to the Legendary Actor Mithun Chakraborty who has made a comeback in A grade movies with Elaan and will win the nomination in the best villain category. He has given a remarkable performance after Gudiyareleased in 98.

Rahul Khanna has debuted in the commercial cinema with this movie and has done a great job. He performed his role with confidence. John Abraham has gone overboard in few sequences and also in his introductory action scene (which is a lift from First Blood 3 a.k.a. Rambo 3. I think Vikram like that action scene because he used that action scene in Awara Pagal Deewana for Sunil Shettys introductory action scene). Arjun Rampal is functional and has given a conventional performance. Amisha Patel has done a good job after Humraaz. She was looking gorgeous in this movie and got more footage than the Lara Dutta and why not she is the girlfriend of the captain of he ship, I mean the director of the film, Vikram Bhatt. Lara Dutta has done her stunts by herself (she tried to become like Lara Croft) but has nothing much to do except showcasing her attractive face and body. Ritu Shivpuri has done fine job in a short role. One wonders she should have got a full fledge role in this movie and why the directors are not casting her in their movies. Chunky Pandey has also done a fine job in a short role.

Escaping from the prison is a direct lift from Spy Game. And even Arjuns first action scene is a lift from Hard Target. The major setback in the movie is the climax. The way they trap Mithun makes you wonder if he really all that powerful (as it has been shown in the beginning of the film that his phone call can sound your death knell) and he does nothing except sitting silently in a room. What happened to all that flames, anger and poison? Elaan has few scenes lifted from Loha released in 87 and China Gate released in 98 which were also inspired by the movies The Seven Samurai, The magnificent 7, Once upon in a west. Scenes like when Shatrughan Sinha promises his son (young jugal hansraj) in the movie Loha that he will take him for holidays but the mission comes in between and he leave for mission and break his promise and also when Naseeruddin Shah wants to adopt a girl in the movie China Gate and he dies and after that Om Puri does the service. In Elaan too, Arjun make promise to his child but breaks it because of the mission and when he dies in the end Rahul adopts his child.

Cinemography is of first rate. Well penned dialogues and good choreography. Appealing background score.

As predicted, it will do a good business in interiors and its good news for Mithun Chakraborty fans that they will get to see a good movie with a good performance by the Legend. 21/2 Out of 5.

Shabd (2005)
The major obstruction of Shabd is the subject that is meant to dare the foundation of the Indian communal environment
6 February 2005
Shabd is too conceptual and too tentative in its approach. Debutant director Leena Yadav tells a story in Shabd that is very modern in its approach. Shaukat (Sanjay Dutt) does not believe in disappointment but when it comes to him as his own disaster, he is not able to accept it easily. He has a gorgeous wife Antara (Aishwarya Rai) who is very responsive and very thoughtful. She will do anything to make her husband grin. Having earned disgrace with his unusual novel, Shaukat now makes a bid to enact the novel in his real life using himself and Antara as the fundamental characters. Sanjay Dutt supports his wife Aishwarya Rai to have an extra-marital affair with her colleague Zayed Khan, so that the husband could integrate life-like, realistic situations in his current novel.

Can it ever get weirder than this?

Antara meets Zayed Khan who is hell bent on getting this sexy diva. Antara is scruffy by his behavior but remains quiet as she is already a married woman. All attempts by Yash to attract her fail and then Shaukat enter the scene. He wants his wife to enter into a relationship with Yash so that the contours of his story start developing. But, little does he know that Antara will actually defy the novel storyline and fall in love with Yash in real life too. The story has an unforeseen twist as Antara falls head over heels in love with Yash. And there is no looking back for her.

To say the least, Leena Yadav has built a strange story in her attempt to look different.

The film moves on with jerks and fails to even establish one equation among the protagonists of the love triangle. Even the editing is loose and there is poor support on the dialogs.

Music by Vishal-Shekhar is melodic. In fact, a couple of songs do stand out - Khoya Khoya, Chahaton Ka Silsila and Sholo Si were brilliantly executed. After Jhankar Beats and Musafir they did it again. One more winning musical score from the duo. Cinematography by Aseem Bajaj is excellent. The film is visually striking.

Sanjay Dutt performs his piece well. The sober look, crew-cut hairstyle, glasses, suits him well. Aishwarya Rai takes to the job with certainty. And like always, the screen fills up with her guise.

Aishwarya is going to suffer the most from the failure of this film. She was in need of a hit desperately but luck has played with her again. She is totally miscast and her character is lousy. The lines and situations written for her are not well thought of and all this only makes her presence go useless on screen. Aishwarya needs to learn her lessons fast, in her attempt to make a niche for herself overseas.

Zayed Khan is a complete miscast. He does not look like a college professor and even otherwise, doesn't have the maturity to carry off the role with meticulousness. Sadia Siddiqui is very efficient. Kamini Khanna does overacting.

On the whole, SHABD is too theoretical to plea to the customary Indian viewers. At the box-office, the film will find it hard to continue buoyant after its first weekend. 1 1/2 Out of 5

Insan (2005)
One more Masala movie from Bollywood came along with one more masala flick 'Elaan'
6 February 2005
One more Masala movie from Bollywood which has all the elements to woo the audience. Such movies dominated the film Industry in 70 and still now it is in the making. It is a remake of Krishna Vamsi's (of Shakti: The Power fame) Telugu film KHADGAM released in 2002.

Ajay Devgan and Akshay Kumar enacted the roles which Srikanth and Prakash Raj has done in the original. The positive side of the film is that it has numerous mass attractive moments and hogwash situations that would be liked by the common man i.e. the conflict scene between Ajay and Masood, Akshay Kumar introductory scene and also the sequences between Akshay Kumar, Esha Deol, and Archana Puran Singh are well carried through.

The climax of the film is a hostage drama with the lofty actions and the awesome acting. As far as acting goes, Devgan does convincingly well as the hard cop, and Akshay gives his fans what they want (he has proved once again that he is a good performer as I predicted about him when I saw him in Khiladi but the Critics and majority of audiences accepted him after Hera Pheri and Dhadkan).

Tusshar has done a fine job and he proved that he is a directors actor. Ask him for the best and he will deliver the paramount. After Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hain Khakee and Gayab this is his best performance. Esha Deol is likable. Koena Mitra has except one song and two scenes. Lara Dutta and Laila were just about okay. Laila doesn't have the sexy looks. She can do the gaon ki gori kind of characters. Amongst character actors, Rahul Dev and Archana Puransingh register an impact. 2 1/2 Out of 5.

Musafir (2004)
The Kaante team is back and 'Yes' again with a bang
6 February 2005
The banner white feather films are back with their third product after the successful KAANTE (directed by Sanjay Gupta) and box office dud PLAN (directed by Harish Shetty, once assistant of Sanjay Gupta). But again Sanjay Gupta is back on the directors seat.

Inspired by Oliver Stone's U-TURN (1997; Sean Penn, Nick Nolte, Jennifer Lopez, Billy Bob Thornton) but you can say that Musafir is 100 times better than the original.

Lucky (ANIL KAPOOR) wanted his own house, a wife, a family and starts a new life. Lucky is betrayed by his girlfriend, chased by a drug king Billa (Sanjay Dutt) and sent to Goa to do a drug deal to get his life back. Lucky meets many people in his life , who gives his life a new twist. After that what happens and will he be able to get his life back or death is waiting for him, you have to watch it by yourself.

Vishal-Shekhar's music is another portion that deserves strong marks. 'Ishq Kabhi Kariyo Na', 'Saaki Saaki' and 'Door Se Paas' are already popular and camera work is the best in the Koena Mitra track, ‘Saaki Saaki', which is one of the best erotic number in the Indian films. Cinematography is of first class.

After PUKAR, this is the best performance and award winning performance of ANIL KAPOOR. After MUNNABHAI M.B.B.S., this is again the award winning performance of SANJAY DUTT.

After a long long time, ADITYA PANCHOLI delivered something great though his role was small but still he manage to make his appearance felt and showed that he is one of the best performers of Indian film industry.

After KAANTE, MAHESH MANJREKAR delivered one more confident performance and one can say that he delivers his good only in SANJAY GUPTA movies.

The surprise in this film is SAMEERA REDDYS performance which everybody will agree that this movie should be the launch pad of SAMEERA REDDY instead of the box office dud MAINNE DIL TUJHKO DIYA. She was confident in front of the senior actors.

SHAKTI KAPOOR and KOENA MITRA performances were just about okay.

On the whole, MUSAFIR has style and substance. At the box-office, it will be a sure shot hit and will leave all the previous movies released back. 4 Out of 5 (same as KAANTE)

Rog (2005)
One more erotic thriller movie after Jism and Inteqaam
4 February 2005
ROG produced by Pooja Bhatt who tasted her first success as a producer with Jism, so she thought to go ahead with such kind of genre and taste the success again but sorry Pooja this time you went wrong as you went wrong with your directorial debut movie Paap where you promoted it as a Sex Movie Jism Part 2 which it was not and because of this reason it was rejected by the audience. Rog was screened last year in Pakistan at Kara Film Festival and Paap was also screened in 2003.

The film is about Ilene Hamann around whom the story of 'Rog' moves. She heads for an ad man Suhel Seth and soon their life flow peacefully. But, the silence turns deadly when one day she is found dead.

Then the story takes the turn that who has done this? What was the motive behind this brutal act against a woman? And, it is here when the investigating officer Irfaan Khan enters the scene. First he considers it as a usual crime case, but soon realizes that it is not as simple. Hamann's daydream makes him fanatical. Is he sick? But, this is only the start of the confusion that he is going to lead into.

What could have been an edge-of-the-seat thriller loses focus soon after the principal characters are introduced. The climax is insensible that whatever shocks a few sequences created just disappear. Even the identity of the murderer does not come as a shock.

The worst writing by Mahesh Bhatt, bad direction by Himashu Brambhatt and also not good cinematography by Anshuman Mahaley. 1 out of 5

Page 3 (2005)
So far the best product of 2005. Previously, I was writing the reviews with the name taufiq awan
4 February 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Assalam O ALaikum! Madhur Bhandarkar has attempted different themes in his films i.e. action social drama TRISHAKTI - directorial debut and AAN, social issue like CHANDNI BAR and political drama like SATTA. Madhur is a passionate narrator. Madhurs latest venture PAGE 3 also deals with an uncommonly sensible subject.

PAGE 3 delves into the lives of the rich and famous means the upper level of the society. PAGE 3 takes the viewer to a world thats weird, where relationships and friendships are erratic and people living dual lives. You can say that the PAGE 3 of any newspaper depict and poke fun at the personalities of Page 3.

The movie impact is hammer-strong as one expects it to be from a Madhur Bhandarkarss movie.

Madhvi - Konkona Sen Sharmahails from Bangalore to Mumbai to start her career as a journalist and gets a work at Nation Today newspaper where the editor Deepak Suri - Boman Irani gives her the job to cover the Page 3 parties of high society.

Madhvi shares a rented apartment with Pearl - Sandhya Mridul and Gayatri - Tara Sharma, a film struggler.

After an incident, Madhvi give up Page 3 and starts doing crime reporting with Vinayak - Atul Kulkarni but after the shocking reality in life she comes back to the Page 3 but for the other newspaper.

A PAGE 3 is a good and appraises effort because of its content and subject and also because of the honest try at conveying light communally related matters. There are some appalling exposures and a well handled scene like a businessman is exposed for child abuse, a male-model gives in to the demands of a gay make-up man and the Boman Irani fires Madhavi from her job.

Madhur Bhandarkar has handled such a subject well and also the best work after CHANDNI BAR. Music by Shamir Tandon is well-designed and Cinematography by Madhu S. Rao is satisfactory and true to life dialogs by Sanjeev Dutta and Madhur Bhandarkar are excellent.

Konkona Sen Sharma is good but its not an award winning performance. Sandhya Mridul and Tara Sharma shines in a major role. Boman Irani is stupendous and he will be next Paresh Rawal. Atul Kulkarni and Bikram Saluja acts honestly. The role of the cop played by Upendra Limaye registers a strong impact. And all other supporting artists were adequate.

On the whole, PAGE 3 is a well-intended attempt and it has better scope at multiplexes of metros mainly. 3 out of 5. Allah Hafiz

Khakee (2004)
After Lagaan the complete film which can compete with Hollywood in all the departments of filmmaking
1 February 2004
Warning: Spoilers
Assalam O Alaikum! What can I say for this Masterpiece? I don't have the words to say or you can say that words will be less for praising this film. I am happy that I am the first one who is going to write the comments on a film which will be a studyguide for all the film students. After The Legend of Bhagat Singh, RajKumar Santoshi again got 5 star for his movie and he is now on the Hattrick chance. Right from the beginning till end you can't keep your eyes away. Everything was too perect in this film i.e. direction, sets, costumes, choreography, cinematography, performances, dialogues, screenplay, actions, editing everyhting everything was excellent. Amitabh as a main protagonist gave best performance of his career, Watch this movie and you wil forget all his cops movie including zanjeer. Amitabh deserves National and all the awards of next year. Akshay Kumar is best as a supportive and ditto can be said for him as I said for Amitabh. Best performance of his career. Ajay Devgan the master performer, best villainous performance of his career after deewangee and he was the only one who could stand infront of Amitabh and could do a conflict with him. Tushaar Kapoor surprises you with his performance. Tushaar proved that if he gets a good director he can delivers his best and he got the good in the shape of RajKumar Santoshi. Aishwarya first villainous act, she proved that she is a complete actress. Atul Kulkarni natural performace after hey ram. A great welcome to the script writer Shridhar Raghavan whose brother Sriram Raghavan made his directorial debut one week before khakee with "Ek Hasina Thi". Welcome to the two new talents. Within one month we got three best newcomers behind the camera. RajKumar Hirani, Sriram Raghavan and Shridhar Raghavan. This movie will be nominated in all categories and going to win more than a half dozen awards including the prestigious national award. After Lagaan, The Legend of Bhagat Singh, Munnabhai M.B.B.S., Ek Hasina Thi, this is my favourite movie. 5 out of 5 Allah Hafiz

The Best Tapori Hilarious Movie
19 January 2004
Assalam O Alaikum! The best movie of 2003, which released at the end of the year like kaante came at the end of 2002. This movie is the best family entertainment movie, which is a fusion of humor and sentiments. After showing his comic talent in Inaam Dus Hazzar, Daud, Haseena Maan Jayegi, Khoobsurat, Chal Mere Bhai, Jodi No.1, Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin, Ek Aur Ek Gyarah, Sanju is back with his best comic performance. Arshad Warsi good support as a Side-Kick. Good to see Sunil Dutt after Phool. Sr. & Jr. Dutt came first time face to face in this movie before they worked in two movies but never came face to face (Rocky ans Kshatriya). Gracy Singh again in a role of Doctor after `Armaan' but you will see the difference in her both performances. Rohnin Hattangadri gave a adequate support. Surprise perdoemance by Boiman Irani who earlier worked in three films `Everybody Says I Am Fine', `Let's Talk' and `Darna Mana Hai' and one wonders that where this talented person was before and where he was hiding and why no one noticed him before. `Aik Jhohri Hi Heere Ki Parakh Kar Sakta Hain' and that Jhohri is none other than RajKumar Hirani who has done a Fabulous Job. And the Credit goes to the Technical WhizKid Vidhu Vinod Chopra who has played the role of a Producer in this movie and didn't interfered in the making of this movie and gave a free hand to his director to work. A Must See Movie and is the best movie of this genre. 5 out of 5 Allah Hafiz

Students can use this movie as a reference for study on Martyr Bhagat Singh.
18 January 2004
Assalam O Alaikum! This movie is on the third number in my favorite movie list after Sholay and Lagaan. After watching this movie one can say that the director has done a lot of research on the life of the legend because each scene and every aspect of the film reveal the hard work of the director and his research team (writer Anjum Rajabali) who has done a great job. RajKumar Santoshi has given his 100 percent in making this Masterpiece and will be remembered till the Indian Film Industry exists. Everything was too perfect costume, sets, cinematography, music and performances. Ajay Devgan performance for this role will be rated number one in his acting career. Right from his first movie (Phool aur Kaante) he has proved that he is a good actor and brilliant performer but Indian audiences, critics and directors came to know after so many years. This movie deserved 5 out of 5. Allah Hafiz
