The concept of this programme had a great prospect for an interesting series but a number of the characters have terrible individual storylines which let the series down. The very idea that a trained handpicked professional crew can't even comprehend the theory of the chain of command and seem to queue up one by one to commit mutiny for no reason is incomprehensible. After the first one nearly kills everyone and anyone in their right mind would recognise the error of their ways, why would the next one repeat this and make such an obvious poor error of judgement and yet they keep coming. Whiny millennials is a common comment and here and that is very true. Katee Sackoff is great as the commander and probably has the best storyline and tries to carry the series but many of the other characters let this series down. Some are mis-cast actors but it's the story writers mostly to blame. Also did they realise that the concept of everyone failing to follow orders was wearing so thin that by episode 8 they suddenly decided to turn a huge chunk of the cast gay in a desperate hope to to try and reinvigorate the story? Had good prospects but let down by poor character storylines. Would NASA allow such flawed astronauts loose of the International Space Station? I think not as their vetting process would weed out all of them before they even entered the training programme.

Lost its purpose

Unfortunately it looks like my love for American Horror Story has come to an end. It's themes of Sci-fi, horror, thriller & drama are no longer relevant in this latest series. It's just a dramatic killing of the gay community and there's not much of a story line apart from the gay relationships which make up the focus for the majority of the screen time. This series stopped showing on U. K. terrestrial TV and suddenly was only available on Disney subscription so when I finally decided to fork out for it, this was one programme I thought I would be happy to catch up on. Unfortunately if this was the only reason I subscribed to Disney then I would consider it poor value for money and have to cancel it. Please go back to basics if you are going to make any more series as this one was terrible and I couldn't take anymore episodes. Very disappointed.

Star Trek Discovery is becoming just like Dr Who had become just before they fired the writer and went back to the former writer and a new Doctor. We all appreciate that no one should be discriminated or marginalised or excluded, but Discovery suddenly seems to care more about storylines about everyone (including the computer??) emotions, gay relationships, family matters etc. This is not what Trekkies want. We want aliens, battles, challenging sci-fi scenarios and fantastic ideas about future technology. Get back to basics please. Gene Roddenberry was a visionary in getting more inclusivity in ST TOS but against a sci fi background and interesting storylines. In Discovery, the sci fi background is disappearing and interesting storylines are now missing.

The story line simply makes no sense and two of the key characters act like they are on a different planet with their behaviour and lines. Also where is this set? He works at London City Radio and talks to listeners from Taunton yet lives next to the sea where all the cars are Northern Ireland registered and the streets and buildings appear to be in the Republic of Ireland. Oh dear. Watched the first episode and had reservations but tried a second episode but had to switch off after 15 mins as it descended to becoming simply dreadful to bear watching anymore.

The storyline was interesting but not exploited enough to make it entertaining. Apart from Linus Roache who is English, all the other main actors had strained and unauthentic English accents that distracted from what was going on. The locations for all of the scenes set in the U.K. were completely unrecognisable and just looked like American actors thinking they were being English in the 1940s on an obvious American film set. A mix of good actors but not in a decent film.

Hearing there would be a female doctor didn't cause me any great concern. Having a mature male companion also seemed fine but then adding an Asian woman and a black guy with learning difficulties/special needs seemed to be trying too hard to tick every single PC box at the expense of an entertaining Dr Who storyline. Too many companions and too little decent storylines. They need to sack the current writers and lose at least one if not two companions as there are too many. Story lines need to be based across the universe as Sheffield is not the universe, the doctor needs storylines that doesn't make her sound like a 'learner driver' as the doctor is supposedly 1000s of year old, wise and mature and most of all, where are the DALEKS???
