Battlecade: Extreme Fighting #1 (1995)
High points make it worthwhile
There were some very lopsided fights in the early rounds that left much to be desired. It was clearly done that way on purpose to set up the later fights.
Had some very low quality effects and editing, and Mr. T's interviewing skills were unprofessional to the point of being comical.
It would seem that several of the fighters records were embellished, but I guess we'll never really know.
Lots of lag time between fights as usual. All of the slow fights were worth it to get to the last one. UFC has done the same thing better, but I found this enjoyable as a fight fan.
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003)
Rises to the occasion!
I had low expectations for this film. I thought Nick Stahl would fail as John Connor, Kristanna Loken would fail as a beleivable villian and the plot would be cheesier than the Hulk's, but I was mistaken about all of the above. The action was up to par with T2, and the plot did not disappoint. The T-X was not as imposing as the T-1000, but still a formidable foe. And although I did not forsee this as a possibility, a Terminator 4 would suit me just fine. It's good to see Arnold back in the saddle.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
As close to perfect as it could have been.
This was an excellent film. Most of the negative comments are from people who were miffed by how it strayed from the book, but you cannot reasonably judge how good a movie it was based on how closely it followed the book. The content of the book has nothing to do with whether or not it was a good movie, which it was. I too have read the book and am a big Tolkien fan. I was disappointed by the inaccuracies, but in and of itself this movie was nothing short of a ten. I have spoken to many people who have seen the film, and none have given negative feedback, even those who are Tolkien purists. I am of the belief that those who have given this film negative reviews are simply geeks looking for an excuse to show off their "extensive" knowledge of the books. Get over your self. This movie was great, whether or not it followed the book closely is beside the point.
