Rip off to other works ):(
14 February 2009
Rejecting this film is something you should think about. Unentertaining, boring, and downright terrible are what you should think about this movie. It rips off 2 or 3 of Disney and Dreamworks great animated films: First of all, it rips off The Lion King, what many people regard as the greatest animated film ever. They could've done much better. Its biggest rip off is of coping Madagascar, which was the one of Dreamworks best films. A British koala, Brooklyn crocodiles, a psychotic wildebeest, a moronic squirrel, and a useless Simba/Alex rip off lion make the film as unpleasant as recent Pixar and average Disney films besides Bolt and WALLE. What happened Disney? Where is the Disney we remember from the 90s? WE Don't WANT THIS S**T. Even children don't want it.

generally unimpressed: started the decline
18 August 2008
I don't know why they make such a big deal about this film. the sole thing i like about this film was Colors of the Wind. I saw a sneak peek of this film while watching The lion king on video and was excited about an American film, a great break from the recent films where the main settings were in Austrailia, France, Arabia, and Africa. Overall i was unimpressed primarily due to the fact that they try to make it too much of a movie. Later when i learned that this film was predicted to follow Beauty and the Beast's footsteps and Beat lion king, i was increasingly disappointed. There were a few good films during the post lion king years(Hercules, Toy story, Tarzan) but this film started the decline to where Disney animation is today. Could've been better. :[

No songs, no fun, no deal
16 August 2008
I must admit, this film just plain sucked. When you mix the classic work of Robert Louis Stevenson, mix it with Star Wars and forget to add songs and you get a blob of S**t. Musker and Clemments fell short with forgetting Alan Menken who had been vital to their work in Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Hercules. Action films are not what todays youth want to see. What happened to the classics like Cinderella, Snow White, Jungle Book, Beauty and the beast, lion king, and Hunchback of Notre Dame. We want those, Not this Crap. Going to theaters, i expected a film with at least one good song and one good or funny character. My opinion is that they should've had the robot voiced as a REAL comedian like Robin Willaims.

Ending with a Bang........ TARZAN
15 August 2008
Disney was basically on a scale between Great offerings and the Poor offerings of the Disney Renniscance. The great films were From Mermaid to Lion king with a little Hercules jazz. The poor offerings were Pocahantas, Hunchback, Rescuers 2, and Mulan. Going to theaters in the summer of 1999, i was ready to sit through a re-hash of Lion king and Jungle book. I was as wrong as i could be. Phil Collins did what Elton john, Tim rice, Alan Menken, Howard ashman, and the Sherman brothers had set done on the Disney canon with Phenomenal songs including You'll be in my heart, Son of man, and Strangers like me. After Tarzan (with the exception of Fantasia 2000 and The emperors new groove), I stopped watching Disney animation because it isn't exciting anymore. Tarzan ended what was set down by Little Mermaid 10 years earlier

The lost 29th
15 August 2008
Warning: Spoilers
In most books about Disney, when you come across the late 80's-90's you see only the Musicals like Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, and Lion king. When i read the back of My 1998 little mermaid VHS, i saw that it was the 28th. I remembered that Beauty and the beast was the 30th. What about the 29th? What was it? I went to my library and borrowed a copy of The Rescuers Down under and was completely blown away. The story of a boy and a magnificent eagle, who need the help of 2 little mice to save them from a villainous poacher and once again save the day. this film has to be my favorite sequel of a Disney film along with Lion king 2 and Aladdin 3.

Funniest Disney Film of All time!!!!!!!
6 August 2008
This film is the most unique Disney film ever made because of 3 reasons: 1.The first Disney film to take place in the Arabian's desert 2. The first animated film to gross $200,000,000 domestically 3. The comedic styling's of Robin Williams and Gilbert Gottfried. With Aladdin, I expected a completely different film, but being a fan of Robin Willaims, I was not surprised how good it was. I was depressed when they canceled plans on re-releasing the film to Imax like they did with Beauty and the Beast and the Lion king. The film creators found who i think is the best villain actor of all time in Jonathan Freeman(Jafar). Him, Elanor Audley(Lady Tremaine and Maleficent), George Sanders(Shere Khan), Vincent Price(Ratigan), Pat Carroll(Ursula), and Jeremy Irons(Scar) are the best as well. Genie is still my favorite character in the film.

The Lion King (1994)

The lion king is the king of the 90's
6 August 2008
The best animated film I've seen in years. I was born in 1994 and i saw this film in November and it has been a stepping stone for my watching of Disney films.

This film had a burden on its shoulders. Of the 4 animated films released before 1994, 3/4 were huge, and three had Alan Menken, probably the best composer of our time. The 3 of 4 include Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin. Rescuers Down Under had flopped and lacked the feeling of a Broadway musical. Elton John and Tim Rice's songs were incredible! Circle of life and Hakuna Matata are my own favorites and both deserved the Academy award for Best song. This film was the last of the HUUUUUUGGGGGEEEE Disney films. Hercules, Pocahontas, and Hunchback of Notre Dame were good but did not par with this.

It opened June 24th to stunning critical acclaim and box office success, beating out Forrest gump. this film deserved the academy award for best picture like Beauty and the Beast did.

Mermaid: Queen of a Renniscance
6 August 2008
Before 1989, Disney had not had a successful animated film since the Rescuers in 1977. Disney entered a dark age in which I knew they would escape. But prospects seemed grim. Failures continued with Fox and the Hound and the Black Cauldron. In 1985, The animation staff began production on Hans Christian Anderson's, The Little Mermaid. They decided to turn Mermaid into a Broadway like musical. I think they began to build on to Mermaid by releasing the successful Great Mouse Detective, and Oliver and Company. The songs in Mermaid including Part of Your World, Under the Sea, and Kiss the Girl will never be forgotten. Mermaid was released in November of 1989 and became one of the most successful films of the year. I own both the 1990 VHS and the 2006 DVD. Mermaid is the foundation in which an entire renniscance was built. Soon Disney would release the Huge hits, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King all that might not have existed without the musical 1989 smash hit of The Little Mermaid.

Beauty and the Beast: The true return of Disney
6 August 2008
In 1989, Disney returned to fairy tales with The little mermaid, one of the biggest, most important films of the 80's. In 1991, a magnificent new animated film premiered. With great songs, a magnificent score, stylized backgrounds, and groundbreaking technology, this film pars with some of the Greatest films of all time, including Snow White, Sound of music, and Star wars. this is my very close second favorite Disney film (Behind Lion king), and fourth favorite film of all time(behind Shrek, Lion king, and Star wars). I was not serried when it one the Golden Globe for Best Picture. I was surprised when it was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture.

Cinderella 3...... Good or bad?
21 July 2008
When you compare this to say The Return of Jafar or Cinderella 2, it is much better with a warm story and no useless new characters that have important roles. However, when you compare this to The Lion King 2 or Aladdin and the king of thieves, this film doesn't even match. Still this the first sequel i was actually rating from awful to great. The original was much better but this is one of those good Disney sequels up there with: Lion king 2, Aladdin 3, Little Mermaid 2, Kronks new groove, and of course lion king 1 1/2. The villain has much more screen time so you get to understand what she feels rather than when she didn't show rage and was cool and collected in the original.

Cinderella 2
21 July 2008
I'll just put it out here, that was the Worst sequel to a classic Disney film I've EVER seen. In 1950, Disney released what I hail as one of his greatest films of all time. Now Take away the great songs, add a poor plot that resembles that of a lost TV show. "Put it together and what do you get?" the biggest load of Crud I've ever seen. After i saw this, I thought it was all over for Disney. Cinderella should've ended with, "and they lived happily ever after." not this garbage. This film did not deserve a sequel like this. I thought it would be like "A twist in time" which was moderate but better than this. Also, What do we care of Anastasia? She switched sides like Iago did, but it didn't help anyone.
