Shottas (2002)

It Is Watchable

OK, so contrary to many reviews this movie is not as bad as many say it is. I mean if you are into the gangsta / mob genre this would be an awesome movie. Let me first say that I appreciate the fact that they used REAL Jamaicans to play the role of a Jamaican, at least for the latter part at least. Being Jamaican I have a pet peeve about FAKE Jamaican accents in movies. I do not believe there is anything more annoying and #1 turn off in movies.

Moving on. The movie starts with an ill developed friendship. There is so much more depth that could have been added to the friendship storyline that would make for a much stronger storyline further down. Jumping some twenty years ahead left many unanswered questions that was not answered even at the end of the movie.

Kymani Marley did an excellent job I must say! The other actors were great also but he was my favorite for what he did with this story in terms of the accents. He made it believable. But Kymani when they made you into some ninja jumping matrix superhuman towards the end was not only unrealistic but completely stupid.

There was not much light shun on the drug trade in the USA or Jamaica. There was too much killing making this flick into a pumped blood and gore film. Story lines were not developed entirely but certainly not an awful movie.

The Final Destination (2009)

Quite Entertaining

OK so this movie actually surpassed my expectation. Not by much though. I have been a fan of Final Destination since part 2 and I saw part 1 right after.

This movie had a lot of bad reviews which made me not want to watch it. However I was bored so I went ahead and saw it.

The first thing I did not like about this movie was that the graphics were too much over the top. The deaths happened too quick. Unlike the other series there was a build up. Also you did not see the deaths simply because they were so quick.

Also, I believed this movie was surprisingly short. They needed more of a storyline I believe. Also I did like the fact that Nick saw such detailed clues as to how someone was going to die. Kinda gave everything away.

But for once everyone dies in FD.. wow I saw this movie in 2D not 3D however.. won't spend that money.

It is worth a watch. For all the FD fans it is not all lost of hope..

I Can Do Bad All by Myself (2009)

Mr. Perry stick to plays please

So, I rated this movie a 1, which is awful. Actually it was beyond awful. It was more like a horribly sickening attempt of portraying something so real to others yet being so fake! Anyways, it was a push for me to watch this movie. I watched this movie online because there was no way I was spending my money to see this in theaters. In fact I will not spend my money to watch any of Tyler Perry's movies in theaters because they are simply just horrifically atrocious.

From the beginning to the end this movie was predictable! With all due respect to Mr. Perry other works I believe this is the worst one yet. He recycles the same script over and over and over again. The man is like a crack addict stuck in one spot with any crack! But what gets me the most is not that it is the same script it is that people watch the movie and praise the man! I am dumbfounded really I am.

Mr. Perry wants to reach out to people, and oh so open up there eyes to the society in which they live. Well, Mr. Perry life is not a fairy tale but your movies are. In this movie I can do bad all by myself, Santiago was so caring about Jennifer and her kids. Well, Mr. Perry you do not find that in the ghetto. What you find is every man for themselves everyone trying to get out of the ghetto and ain't nobody wanna help nobody. And that's real! And why all Mr. Perry movies has to be some kind of love story, and someone cheating on somebody, somebody getting hit, abused... Oh I know! It is the same recycled script. I mean you did even see April and Santiago much deep conversation except for when her mother died he comforted her and he loved her so deeply it was as if they were together for years. Two very attractive actors but there was absolutely no chemistry between these two.. And oh Mr. Perry would not be able to sleep if he did not add a wedding scene.

I commend Taranji Henderson. I believe she did a very good job with the script she was given.

Mr. Perry you should have just stopped with Diary of a Mad Black Woman and stick to play writing..

PS: This movie was absolutely nothing like the play the only thing I like about this movie was the song I can do back all by myself. And that's another thing, why everybody has to sing in all your movies like it is musical??

August Rush (2007)

Awesome Awesome Awesome

OMG This movie was just phenomenal!! Capturing from beginning to end... I wanted more at the end but I was satisfied with what I got. The plot was well written and actors were GREAT!!! That movie August should be sued for having such a close title to this movie and being so awful.. After watching August I didn't want to watch August Rush but I am so glad I did.. I recommend this movie to ALL ages it is an excellent watch. It is mind capturing from beginning to end. You will not lose interest in this movie at all and will be on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next.. Robin Williams acted exceptionally and the performance that Freddie, Jonathan and Kerri gave deserves standing ovations.. All actors were awesome. Excellent story line. Well written, directed and produced! Congrats guys

August (2008)

Waste of time and money

OK, I have to agree with many people and say that this film was boring and waste of time. I obviously did not see a plot and the story line made no sense. The entire movie was about saving a company... who wants to watch a movie on that? Come on now.. Josh Harnett acted the part real good but the plot goes over my head. The best part and most interesting to me was his relations with Sarrah and when they just vanished her out of the movie there was really nothing else.. That was the only story line that this movie had not some stupid company going down in August a month before 9/11!! Who cares??? People watch movies to be entertained.. not lectured and that is what this movie gave me.. nothing made any sense besides his relationship with Sarrah..
