spoiler silly continuity
9 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
She cuts the brass firepole to melt it down. Later on the firepoles are all intact. Duh. This just seemed like lazy directing.

I think they really should have monopilised on the original cast and used them more because they have much better comedy acting and timing than the new crew.

I mean come on, the black kid was so flat and hardly did anything. Wolfhart hardly did anything. Why was mum even there?

Did anyone notice where they showed a new york skyline and then switched to a beach. What was that cut about... what was the director trying to convey except here are two scenes which have nothing to do with each other jammed together.

Belongs on Youtube
5 January 2024
When you see such a shabbily put together which uses stockfootage stockfootage stockfootage to tell a story and then does it so slowly I couldnt watch past a minutes. The main character is CGI animated and robotically opens and closes his mouth but the lips dont sync to the words at all. Its a half baked attempt at trying to provide at least some focus on the story but looks like a child was playing around with Blender raytracer. Either that or somoene on Fiver is now five dollars richer and the results speak for themselves. I dont think this deserves to be on Amazon Prime and probably wouldnt do much better if uploaded onto youtube which is where it clearly belongs along with all the AI generated text to speech monstrosities.

what no ending
1 January 2024
Promising but end ubruptly when we havent reached a full conclusion. It seems like something that just ran out of money. It really didnt make much sense without an ending.

I liked the concept and the cinematography and characters were well played and I wast starting to enjoy the story and just starting to get a hope that the characters would have some sort of ending but about 10 threads of story line were left unfinished when the movie credits started to roll. I wondered if this was a series and there was a part2 but sadly there was not. I cannot understand why you would finish a movie half way through a story arc.

Very slow to get going
25 April 2023
This is a very slow movie to get going and has too much fluff and bloat. The trademark Sami Raimi style is lost in this movie and the characters do some really dumb things that leave you to facepalm. Silly plot items like things turn up to help out you would never expect just makes it seem out of place in this serious movie but perhaps ok if it was a comedy, but its not played as a comedy so I am not sure it works. The movies trailers say pedal to to floor and doesnt stop... well it certainly seems like the car was turned off for the first half of the movie. Why odes the movie need to start forwards in time and then go back in time rather pointlessly. Seems an awkwardly contrived way to start a movie.

Acting? What acting!
28 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Everyone in this film was so flat. I dont think it is their fault they were told to play it down. Even the "put your hand in the box". He just shed a little tear and shook a bit. So thats what having your flesh seared off with flames make you emote???!!! I dont think so! Give me the Lynch version all the way. Where was the pathos, where was the theatre. It just rambled on and on. After Bladerunner remake Dennis Vennevue or what ever his name is is proving to be a director I will have to avoid less I fall asleep.

Wasted opportunities and made as a money spinner
16 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This was an overlong and fudged documentary which seemed more concerned with showing off its director wandering around his house talking on a phone and stock shots which over-hyped everything. Shots of nuclear bombs going off, alien heads, motor cars, adverts from tv... all totally irrelevant. Shots of an overpriced Apple Iphone X playing out text messages. Apple products and placement in plain view to try and show off always makes me want to vomit and this is how the documentary started.... Yes look at me Ive got the latest rip off iphone which Corbell sports like his mess of tatoos throughout as a pointless fashion statement. Something to distract the eye with no deep meaning.

We were told that all the people around him say Bob Lazar doesnt lie. Why not show them saying that. I for one would have liked to have seen his mother being asked about his schooling along with his wife and neighbors. However just when we think we are going to learn a lot about the young Lazar his mother is gone and so are any revealing stories. All she states is he was a kid who grew up in Florida. Is that all? Wasted opportunity. She wasnt asked about his schooling - was he a good student, did he drop out of or stay in school and do well. All questions which were not asked which left the viewer banging our heads against the wall.

There was a complete lack of corroboration for his MIT and Caltech days. Surely Bob could remember the names of teachers he had or classmates. Apparently not, or the question wasn't asked.

New tidbits of information which were interesting were the handscanners info apparently being correct and an EG&G employee being found that confirmed what Bob said. That was the only reason to be making the documentary and these points features for moments and were not investigated hard. I would have far rather focused on these points rather than seeing Bob say over and over and over again that he is telling the truth. However these important bits of new information probably had about 1 minute airtime in the whole documentary. What a waste.

There was a section where a "missing tape" of smoke chamber was sought out and then finally found. Yet the significance of what this tape was lacked explanation. We saw this footage and something about "light was meant to bend" but I didnt see any bending light... and it was just another ping pong edited in piece with no real gravitas and seeming purpose. Was I meant to learn something here Mr Corbell?

Lots and lots of drone footage of places that clearly were not Area51 and seemed to have nothing to do with anything became annoying. The Grand Canyon. Death Valley. What has all this got to do with Area 51. It didnt appear to me that Corbel actually visited Area51 or Rachel but used George Knapps footage as much as possible in a way that made it seem like he avoided travelling. The whole documentary had a feel of stock footage or other peoples footage used as much as possible to perhaps avoid travel?

I wish Mr Corbel would stick to just the facts maam... not waffle and filler and wizzy over the top cheesyvision graphics in your future efforts. And wow what a price tag to watch this over-hyped product. There was no way I was going to pay £16 to watch this so was glad it came to me by other means. Overpricing things like this just means people like me will refuse to pay. If it had been a couple of pounds/dollars I would have paid.

Why the hard to understand accents?
12 March 2018
This movie was ruined for me by the hard to understand accents which then went on to make the acting club fisted and woody. I honestly dont know why people said this was a good movie - its plot holes and cheese was immense. I fell asleep and had to try to finish watching it three times... it really was that bad. If the Lion King could have easy to understand accents then why not movie. Do they no da wei?

Warning: Spoilers
The music wasn't placed like the original, yet Denis the director promised he spent a long time getting the music right. Where was it... I saw small bits of the music here and there.

I got too well antiquated with boring stuff like his boring apartment... yes inside I was screaming lets move on. So many sequences which just seemed overly blank. The close up feel of the first Bladerunner was replaced with pull back long shots throughout the 2049 sequel. So add to that the lack of music and at times the blank pregnant pauses and over length of this movie had me wanting to scream "come on" at the screen.

There were some really odd continuity errors like Edward Olmos looking younger in his appearance than he did in the original - which made no sense. The Rachel scene scene was hacked together because if all they needed was for Dekker to procreate with the clone, why not just take his sperm and do it without his consent, so why kill Rachel. Mindless storyline. This had some really sucky lame brain ideas which didn't follow through. If you can stand the 2hr30 mind numb and can see it on the cheap then great but the 3d was really flat - so not a good one to see in 3d... and honestly I'm questioning all this £15 cinema ticket lark for hack jobs like this one. I wouldn't say I hated it - just it wasn't 1 out of 10 compared to the original.

Awful - beyond the pale
21 August 2017
Zero momentum... zero quality. The colours look drab, this has the feel of a cheap documentary and the main characters just seem to be speaking their lines with no pzazz. I could only watch about half an hour and i felt so cheated I stopped watching. This is another Ghostbusters 3 experience where the took a classic and for no good reason try to remake it and make it seems the amateur dramatics got their hands on it. AVOID.

Confusing and just thrown together with padding
15 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
One word to sum this movie up. **Padding.** Right from the first frames on screen we are thrown into a messy edit, which comprises a montage of the scenes to come in the movie. Why, no reason, just have a montage of whats to come for no reason. Like a mini trailer right at the front of the movie. If that doesn't reek of fail I don't know what does. The cinematography is at times OK but a lot of the time inconsistent and flawed like a lot of bad focus pulls and botched direction ideas. Some stuff is never explained like switches from a "long barrow" to the inside chamber of the barrow where two people are talking. There you see I just confused you. If you don't know what things like long barrows are you'll be really confused when you see scenes like this which don't explain themselves... just a visual mash of things that to a layman make no sense. A lot of this movie seems made for a very narrow audience of people who actually know something about the subject matter of crop circles and stone henge type locations. If you don't understand these things a lot of this movie may confuse you. A lot of scenes are clearing in there just to make up time, ie padding... because they have zero impact or discernible need to be present. Contiunity errors such as a woman saying inside a sunny lit pub "there are lights in the sky out there now go look" - or words to that effect. Next scene the man is outside in full night. Wow. Clearly, a phoned in shoot. There were moments where very cheesy and inappropriate music was jammed on top of "moments" which really broke the fourth wall in terms of it didn't fit in the movie and made you start to think about what went wrong in the production process for something like that to make its way in to the edit. If you are a fan of crop circles then you might be curious but don't get your hopes up... special effects are awful and what little story there is could be described on the back of a cigarette packet, much like some crop circle designs are. A shame as I was hopeful or more but i found myself counting the minutes till the end. Nice countryside though.

Kage
28 March 2017
And interesting documentary which focuses on the many problems of the fandom from the inside and how it claims to be tolerant yet routinely attacks its own.

Kage is a fascist and unless your agreeing with him he will try his best to put you down. I think a lot of people have been on the butt end of this. I think he thinks he means well even even though to everyone else it just comes out as quite nasty. It can be funny to the crowd until your on the receiving end of his butt hurt.

However from Kages' point of view his views are more important than anyone elses and if you ever try to debate with him expect a wrathful putdown. I wonder if he ever sits down and thinks about the people he has judged and tried to overpower?

So here we are: his barbed nature now got himself an unauthorized documentary about him in part which kind of shows how he operates in trying to tell everyone what Furry is about. Heil Kage.

Furry is so many things to so many people that him trying to own a specific brand of Furry which is media clean has become a mania which now a lot of people try to enforce on the various chat hangouts, which is why the politics of furry has got so boring. Yeah OK he is trying to sell a kid friendly brand of Furry. Doesn't he think Furries grow up?

Furry is what you want it to be about. If you want scandal - yeah dig and you'll find it like anywhere in life... However for most people in furry I think its really its just about a group of people hanging out. I think Kage is licking his wounds now after being seen to be so mean to a few of the furries who are visibly in fact a lot more furry than he is ;-) As for him deeming Boomer mentally ill. Is there a mental illness classification for loud ,overbearing control freak. If there isn't one, maybe there should be... hehe, eh Mr Uncle Doctor... Boom! I don't know if I speak for anyone else... I love the conventions - hate the politics.

This documentary explores the people and juxtapositions the politics well and I am really glad someone is finally asking the questions - "and who are you to tell me what I can do" in a furry documentary.

I guess everyone who took part in this documentary are now banned for life from anything Kage does. I guess this Kage ban wont apply tio himself though which is kind of the point this documentary was trying to make - there's no instructing the Fuehrer.

A timeless masterpiece
29 January 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This is a timeless masterpiece which I stumbled upon and after sharing 1900 people on my Facebook agree. No word required means accessible to all peoples in all countries. The visual style and cinematography and direction must mean big things ahead for this team. It feels like you are in the X-Files and a Torchwood episode but with a loving style that seems in a class of its own above both of these series.

Some of the strange things that happen are quite surreal and yet the subject of the paranormal is treated with an almost scientific clear headed mentality. I felt that more could be said, a movie or a TV series to extend this concept. It did really feel like this was part of a Ghostbusters offshoot - perhaps more of what we should have been given instead of Ghostbusters 2016! Just imagine what this director could have done with millions to play with instead of Sony blowing it all on wasteful Paul Feig.

Everything you heard is true - it sucks!
26 August 2016
This movie sucked for me on every level. I refused to pay to see it because I didn't want to contribute to what I knew was going to be bad. However I had no idea it was going to be THIS BAD. I forced myself to watch it. I nearly couldn't finish watching. Even the needing left me feeling even more depressed that they could waste so much money and come out with so much dross is beyond belief! This movie was rampantly sexist in not a nice way. All men are idiots in this movie. Whereas women seem to possess not only brains but an inability to flinch at ghosts at all, which seems out of place with not here they are not! All the horror was removed from this flick which makes it nothing like the first one. There was nothing scary, it was all woo hoo wee hee - like a fairground ride, which made it feel like it had no soul and it was just going through the motions.

So what replaced the horror and soul.... you guessed it Comedy. Bad comedy! Comedy which was so overplayed that no joke in it hit any mark and you could see the set ups a mile away. The cameos by Bill Murray and Dan Ackroyd didn't play up to those characters importance to their original roles and were very forgettable moments which is a crime for this film to have done that to these actors. Cameos of this standing should be memorable.

Really this movie should be erased from history and the negatives burned. It has caused so much upset and so much disappointment and everyone who said it looked bad was right. I cannot believe that there is anyone out there who actually gave this movie a vote above 3, so why it is even at 5.5 on IMDb right now astounds me. Sony must have fake accounts on IMDb like crazy to have even managed to drag it this high.

Paul Feig, your a hack. May you never work in Hollywood again. What you did to this movie is unforgivable. I hope it makes you unemployable.

Boring
10 September 2015
This movie couldn't decide if it was comedy or horror. The problem for me is that it was neither. Its continual use of wacky camera angles and cut aways to annoying "viewers" of the allegedly "found footage" and other characters who seemed to have little or nothing to do with the movie, who did very un-informative things like in one case just stuck a finger at the camera up reeked of just trying to find things for characters to do rather than there being a plot. Oh yes plot, you could scribble that on the back of a cigarette packet. No tension no twist - unless I missed something, which would be easy as I was yawning so much. Filmed in Student-o-Rama vision it seemed. Only one person Johnny Hurn made any attempt at proper acting or creation of a half engaging character, but with no decent acting from anyone else it was just wasted. After that I have forgotten all the others characters immediately as they were that pointless. If you fancy a movie that is shot in one location that does little to hold your attention then this ones for you.

Slightly better than a student film
7 September 2015
I wont go into the plot in other than to say that this is a boring idea with the main lead man who was actually the writer and director and producer and stars in it... yeah you get it, vanity publishing at its best. The DVD wouldn't play in my machine or PC properly because the disk was badly authored. I had to rip the files to my PC and watch the files of the final 5 minutes on a media player! I cant understand why people are shooting stuff on video and then processing it with so much film grain as to make it look nasty to watch. Also this being shot on video was not 2.35 anamorphic aspect and as such they have created the DVD with Black Bars top and bottom. Great thanks for making this a high grain, low resolution watch. The performances were believable but trite - you think the writer would have tried to write himself a better part. Do all French policemen walk around vast woodlands with their automatic weapons in hand pointed in front of them with no shoulder sling when there is absolutely no threat and nothing happens. Errrm, hello? That cop must have great muscles! The twee end to the movie which compresses everything that the movie comes to be about into a 1 minute montage where the lead man also gets all the women and becomes a fully balanced man that women now seem to want - Im reaching for the sick bucket. Seems like you could have dispensed with the first hour and made this "movie" a short and still got the whole of the story in there. I felt like I was just watching visual padding.

Eye fest made with love
18 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I have been stunned by the brilliant fluid direction of Gans with every movie I have seen of his. Even though this is in the French language and I watched with subtitles I found that the narrative is mostly visual so the small pieces of voice are easy to digest in the subtitles without taking your eyes from the main action on screen.

Without giving too much away I was taken in by the story which is a complete reboot of the Beauty and the Beast tale and takes the viewer in new directions. The stunning CGI is clearly above the usual Hollywood standards we would otherwise be forced to endure. Hats off to France for that. The rendering of the deer was just captivating and you can get lost in the the landscapes and sunlight. The light and colour and texture at times makes you feel like you are watching a living breathing painting that is hyper-realistic. If you are a fan of Werewolfe type change sequences you will not be disappointed by the delicious long moments of change offered here.

Disney have tried and failed, in my opinion, to capture passion that this film portrays with offerings like Return to Oz where they piled on so much dark that you feel like you have an icky taste left in your mouth and wonder what Disney were trying to do - were they genuinely trying to scare us and depress us.

However this movie leaves you with no bitter tastes and although probably isn't suitable for children its a fantasy for Adults. Something Disney seem to strive towards but always fall short of with flat stories and predictable characters. They should take a leaf out of Gans book - or even better EMPLOY HIM. He could dig Disney out of a boring hole. Just a suggestion. Another superb Gans film not to miss is Lucy - much like this movie one to unplug your brain to and just sit down and enjoy. If you haven't seen Le pacte des Loups - you have not lived!

Well done France for your new wave of CGI - possibly second now to New Zealand for stunning CGI with Hollywood coming in third.

Boring
17 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this movie expecting something which was going to have a magnetism. The moment came and went in the first 15 minutes - when our hero was forced to shoot a child. This was his first ever kill. From there it got very boring as we go through the motions of watching person a kill person b. person c defend against some bad guys. It unfolds just as any war/action movie would but just in a cold slow manner. I nearly gave up and stopped watching. The whole thing dragged on way too long and then as soon as it had started it ended in an abrupt way which suggested to me that director Clint Eastwood had run out of ideas.

I know this review will disappear amongst the tirades of positive patriotic outpourings - but I go with the reviewer who called this film Team America. Its all about how the US can go into someone else's country and flatten it under the false premise of weapons of mass destruction which were truly false and then take the moral high ground. The main character felt compelled to go to war because of the WTC attacks. I thought it was Saudi Arabia that planned and paid for all of that. Yuk in my book.

Premise is a total lie (contains spoilers)
14 October 2014
Warning: Spoilers
As someone who has made crop circles watching this documentary was a must. It claims it is a "movie" yet is shot roughly on low-definition video so does not deserve that title. Then it claims to be a "quest for truth" but only looks at one side of the argument - the side that says crop circles cannot be made by people, yet neglects to interview any of the people who make them. Clearly this is more a quest for Bias then! Some of the characters interviewed in this docu have in the past have been exposed for title fraud. Prof Glickman wasn't a professor and Dr Levengood wasn't a Doctor.

I met William Gazecki (the director) when he was making this film. Firstly he did interview circlemakers but got a researcher to do the interviews hiding the fact that this was for this documentary so we were interviewed under false pretences. Then the producer (Suzanne Taylor) was soon after our interviews boasting that those interviews would NEVER be included as she was paying the money for the project. I asked Gazecki if our interviews would go in the finished piece. He said absolutely they would as he would not be controlled by Taylor the producer. Did the interviews appear in the finished piece... No they did not. So clearly this was a paid for piece of biased vanity press.

If one wants to see a classic example of why crop circles have never been taken seriously be any REAL BONAFIDE scientists then listen to the presentations put forth in this video. Natural biophysical effects such as Phototropism ( a plants ability to correct itself back up towards the sun after being laid flat), this is described as UFO electromagnetics and microwave power. Total poppycock! Why would any real plant scientist take any of it seriously when this is the mainstay argument these circles believers put forth? If I had my way this type of obfusaction of evidence would be taken off the shelves because it is fraudulently taking your money to peddle you snake oil concepts which are well known to be wrong by people who have been exposed as liars in the past.

I personally would not pay to see this.

A mash up movie thrill ride with cinema only special effects
10 September 2014
Lucy I gave it 10 out of 10, this review contains no spoilers.

It has a tongue in cheek air whilst paying homage to many great films over the years... 2001, Contact, Matrix, Transcendence, The Time Machine, Inception mixing in car action scenes on a level I have never seen before.

It has a kick ass pace and is an eye candy fest. I felt particularly moved by it and was sad it had to end but just like the Maxtrix it leaves a lot of unanswered questions and you just want to know more. I hope they leave those questions unanswered because sometimes a story works best when your imagination has to delve into the possibilities a movie like this can put up. For those who were expecting deep answers from this movie you will be disappointed but for a thrill ride with a lot of wow moments this movie definitely delivers. I hope there is a special edition with more footage because I feel it could have been longer but apart from this a nice little number. Watch in the cinema - it was very impacting on the big screen.

Nice show shame about the APPLEs
16 March 2014
This show is great. Filmed nicely and the story is paced well. Just a shame that every time I see an Apple logo thrust into my face I feel irked to the point where I want to turn it off.

The product placement in this show is so sickening that it will probably make people remember it for being so pathetic due to it.

Going so hardcore with the product placement can actually make people lose love for the story and the direction. Its as if if I enjoy the series I must like Apple. Nothing could be further from the truth. iPads, ipods, iphones, Mac Book Pros.... I've had enough.

My above review may be the way your feeling after watching this series too. 50% Werewolf 50% product placement.

Oh heres a minor spoiler alert. Why do these upper class Werewolves have professors in their pack yet when they get injured - they don't have access to a trusted medical doctor in their pack or another trusted pack? They cant go to hospitals because they are werewolves... boo hoo. Must just die then. This is a rubbish plot gaff.

Skyline whomped this one
28 March 2011
I couldn't watch this film in one viewing as it was so bad. After seeing district 9 where the aliens were up close and you got to see their expressions then Skyline was close up action and was cinematically pleasing this movie was just a cut and shunt mess. Whoever wrote the script must have just said "Marines in cheap burnt out set, smoke billows, noises overhead, fire some guns - oh we had better put in come cgi now, but hey thats costs a lot so not too much... end of scene." repeat for rest of movie.

I am not one who likes Marine movies ah "OOH RAH", isn't Americas military machine wonderful nonsense but when that type of story is coupled with jerky camera-work so you cant see the aliens properly and they are always hiding off in the distance. I had two goes at this movie and I worked it out in the end. then i realised that the aliens are just badly animated, this is why the makers hid them away a long way away from the camera and then the camera shake badly added on top you realise that this was to hide the bad CGI effects. The cgi looked like it was created by a computer game house and then some grain added on top to hide it in this film. No wonder grain and camera shake and blur was used so much.

This movie had no real suspense, you could imagine with every new scene what was going to happen and this just meant that every time you found yourself right and the aliens would come in this way or that way, you just become more and more uncomfortable in your seat feeling cheated.

If you enjoy feeling cheated then this movie is for you. However if your like me and thought that the fast action whoosh-whoosh sequences in Avatar were there to hide bad CGI and thought some of the creatures looked Plastic, then your going to think that simile applies even more to this movie and hate every moment of it. I almost wanted my money back.
