Taskmaster: Fear of Failure (2016)
One of the biggest moment in Taskmaster-, british-, sport-, humanity- and TV history
The second series of Taskmaster is among the best series of the show. After the groundbreaking and great first series it gets even better with this wonderful cast. In this episode "Taskmaster" dose what it has the unbelivable skill to do, make you care about something stupid. Watching 5 comedians throw a potato in a hole is amongst the most insane thing I have ever watched on TV. Right up there with the best Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad episodes. 10/10.
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
NOT a 1 star episode! An episode not about action, but about closeing the story. People love to hate. Especially these days when personal wants and needs aren't met.
It is a true shame how the last season of one of the greatest TV shows ever has to be so rushed. :( It feels rushed these last 2 seasons. Cause near the endgame of the biggest and mabey best series ever the show has focused on getting to the end. This show has been the best at showing step-by-step journeys just like a/the book(s) has the power to do well. But after hearing George R. R. Martin telling them the end of the story the tone changed. Knowing the end and doing everything they could to tie this giant of a story together for a "satisfying" end was not done bad at all. People should really see this season for what it is. The end. Yes, it could and mabey should have been better and more satisfying if they did what they have shown us they do very well, use theire time to build up well told story arcs. But this is what they did. They gave us the end. Saying this is bad TV and that "the entire show is broken" is so wrong and so stupid and so modern-cry-baby-I-want-it-my-way-otherwise-it-is-the-worst-thing-ever-in-the-history-of-anything. Saying one is disappointed is more then fair. But hateing it cause it didnt give you what you thought or needed is stupid.
This show is all about the balance and the opposites in life. Like life - death, light - dark, right - wrong, and ice - fire. We have learned in this last season that The Night King was the the embodiment of death, cause what he wanted was to cast the world into darkness, nothingness (which in GoT is what death is. When someone has been dead and asked about what they saw of 'the other side' it was "nothing"). Saying "Jon Snow should have faught the NK cause why else was he brought back to life" is kinda childish as well cause he did fight him, but he didn't kill him single handed (tho I so agree that it would be cool to see them fight more, hehe). The "reason for his resurrection" is kind of uncertain which is kind of the point about the entire show. We do not know which of if gods are real and what they want with us. Just like in real life.
After fighting of the long night in episode 3 the 'darkness' is not yet defeated. Dany, who has lost it all including all the admiration and praise she has worked so hard to achieve acrosse the sea over 7 seasons, finds it soultearing and heartbreaking to feel and see that a man she loves actually now at the end has gained the peoples support and has the "better" claim to what she always have had as a motivational goal, the iron throne. The people in Kings Landing/Westeros have no real true love for her. For her to stand a chance in becoming the powerful one with the uperhand to gain her much admired throne, she becomes something she didn't want to be (but that always was in her blood) a tyrant. It makes the last episode incredebly sad regarding what has happend and what has to happen. It is like watching your loveing dauther loseing all her friends and go so wrong. (Too bad it is rushed tho).
The final ruler of the show is a poetic ending that actually fits the show very well even tho the journey to the end feels rushed. Making Bran the King is no guarantee of better times. But much like democracy, it might be the best option there is. Bran is the opposite to The Night King. The Night King is the leading man into nothingness and darkness. Bran is our memory and history, he is what life is, or our chance of life. A guide into the brigther future.
I think and hope in time people will be able to see that the ending to one of the greatest series of all time is not that bad, just different, and (sadly) rushed and therefore lacks some of the prevoius magic. This show has shown us that death/Night King is darkness, cold and loss of memory/history. History of good and bad. This show has given us both in a very good way even it's last season. Long may it rain.
Dexter: New Blood: Sins of the Father (2022)
SPOILERS! 1000 times better then Dexters previous worst series final. People love to hate these days when personal preference wants and needs aren't met
Like with the GoT ending: People just love to get together to hate something strongly without nuance. Like GoT's ending this is not done perfect. But I thought it was a great ending to the new series. The show had many times showed us that "killing killers" still is killing and will eventually hurt yourself and those close to you. Even tho the show makes you question moral the silver lining was always sokad in blood. The reason why I also felt this ending worked was that it kinda made Maria's (with help of Lundy's notes prior) investigations matter more. Angela telling Dexter that Angel would come and help bring Dex down was the final straw that gave Dexter no other choise then to "go all out" in order to escape. Which was too much for his son. Too bad we didnt see more of a reunion with Angle and stuff tho but hey... fan-service is a never-achieving goal a series shouldnt focus on too much even tho people these days often find it too challenging not to be given what they think they want :P.
Doctor Who: Flux: Chapter Four - Village of the Angels (2021)
The best episode of the new-new era/post 2017? Maybe? Maybe not. But it is the most exiting one.
Dr. Who has become a strange "spin-off"-like show of what it used to be. The writing in this show have always seemd a bit repetative at times, but was able to keep a classical british charm even when so, and/or a creative engaging and beautiful sci-fi life-philosophy to it. Makeing Dr. Who among the greatest TV shows I'd say. Alot of the spark has gone now, and things seem rushed and superfical. This 6 part story feels a bit better tho (Not much, but a bit). This episode was truly a fun episode. It had flaws that I couldn't really see past (and with dr who that was very easy to do earlier in it's run cause of all the atributes it had as I mentioned above). The acting seemd very 2D at times in this. But with the childlike scrips over the last years you kinda have gottn numb by it. Jodie is doing what she can, and... its alright. Wish to see her get proper "tested" tho. To see more of WHO she is by how she acts. We know she is The Doctor and helps around with her magic wand, but let us feel her sturggles more deeply Chris. And the acting at the ending with the hologram convo... it really felt like I was watching the actors rehearsing the scene before they put the cameras on... which is a shame cause that story of those people could and should FEEL more in order for it to have more of an impact on us I feel. Seeing the angels is always fun (tho a part of you kinda feels like it should be left as a classic in order to not "spoil" them), but come on they are so fun and thrilling. The "problem" is maybe that the episode is so fun, and therefore kinda good, that it makes you/whovians from the past eras wish it was better! It makes you feel what more potenial everything has! And some also might dread what kind off conclusion Chibs is gonna give us next when it has been doing twist in a poorly manner before :O :\ But no matter, for what this episode was worth, it was fun! :D Loved what they did with the cave stuff, and the angles being "lonely assassins" and the ending (tho, like I said, I felt it could be better cause I actually cared again cause it was good and fun. Wish the set up was more teased or something). Rating: 7, but I have been harsh with all the Chibs episodes so I'll give an 8. Lower then the other Angles episodes anyways :)
Sorry for all the "(...)" and wrong spelings :P Love from Norway. (Right outside of Bergen actually. For you fellow Who-fans ;))
Kongen befaler (2019)
Watch the british and original version "Taskmaster" on youtube instead.
Yes, it might give a few laughs. But it is awful compare to the original british "Taskmaster". A lot of the banter and the all in all atmosphere dosen't work with the norwegian celebs. Mostely cause they are not as naturaly funny as many of the brits. The original one is better cause it all feels authentic and sincere. And thats the big thing that often falls flat when shows gets a adapted into other countries. And this is another example. So please give the original show Taskmaster the respect and love it deserves, and get to know much better, wierd, wonderful, awkward comedians.
Regards from a norwegian TV and film fan who loves to laugh, and especially when it's edgy and natural.
No Time to Die (2021)
I'm wary of P.C. going "too far", but I was actually suprisingly pleased by this!
Maybe it is more an 8. But as a Bond film (and reading some comments that is being too hard on it for reasons it doesn't deserve) I gladly give it 9 as a solid modern Bond film. Plus Rami Malek was wonderful (tho I wish we saw more of him in the film).
James Bond is one of the biggest crown jewel in UK's entertainment culture. Another big jewel is of course the worlds longest running sci-fi show, Doctor Who. In recent years the TV show Doctor Who has gone waaaaaay down in quality due to new showrunners and thereby the handeling of P. C. (political correctness) culture. The problem is found in "lazy writing" where an audience then feel like they are being treated like idiots in the way the story directly tells them what and which is bad, and what and which is good. Now it isn't necessarily bad for a story to be direct, but sometimes the industry forsakens depth for the risk of losing it's (rather obvious) message. Ergo; the script has little faith in it's audience, and they feel it.
So cause of all this I was very skeptical about this new film, to say the least. All the rumors of there now being a new (black) female to take the part as the next James Bond ect. Ect. Bond is a huge film! And the Bond films, about a man going around drinking, killing and sleeping with Bond-girls he doesn't really care about, was starting to get a bit old and needed to be more adressed then before. But dose it? Do Bond films need to adress it more? Do we need Pride parades? Well, any decent person might not. A decent person is a feminist, is not a racist, and don't care which gender you are or love. Most people are decent. But sadly there are people who are NOT decent who need to see the accept in society. And with great powers (in which a Bond movie has), comes great esponsibility. That is why this Bond film had to do (at least) something.
Watching the film I was very positively surprised by the handling and navigating of these things. It did things in a very natural way. It showed us that times have changed even for Bond, and it also showes how we don't have to "let go" of everything that was good in the "old days", just like Bond. The new times brings people who don't know James Bond, where the number 007 is just a number for a secret agent. That is the new times, but no matter what this movie (tho long) shows us that James Bond is so much more then just a name.
Aladdin: Eye of the Beholder (1994)
Maybe my favorite Aladdin episode!
Love this episode! In this episode the egyptian demi-god Mirage long to prove that love is not such a strong power in the world. And she wants to ruin the great love between Aladdin and Jasmine as an exemple of this. This episode is very nice at showing morals about vanity and love. And if this episode proves anything it is that Al and Jass is the coolest Disney couple.
House M.D.: It's a Wonderful Lie (2008)
It's a Wonderful Christmas Episode
It's not a really special, exciting, unique and interesting episode. Just simply wonderful. This show has so rich characters and derfor Christmas episodes gets just so cosy. This episode is also a great addition to the best season of House. The episode dose provide good moments aswell as cosy, like House witnessing a childs brutal honesty, or the fun with the team doing Christmas Santa (...No wait, I mean Satan. I always get them confused).
Game of Thrones: The Long Night (2019)
People rating this 1 star cause it didn't give them exactly what THEY thought would be good.
This is NOT a disapointment. This episode I imagen was something the writers dreaded to do. SO many people needed to be pleased, and thats impossible. What they did was amazing! The entire episode reeks of ambition to make something spectacular and fenomenal. And they succeed. OFF CURSE things could have been different. Characters could have faced more brutal sacrifices in old fashion GoT-style, more deaths, the fate of the night king could have been more delayed by him killing several key characters to make his demise more impactful, but that again could make it more of an anticlamax when he died. My point; that Arya killed him cause of her 'faceless'-marshal training was fitting and cool. The Night Kings death would, on some level feel anticlimatic no matter what! This was one way to handle an unavoidable climax. Make it cool and with a fastpased shock. In a way that is not what this show used to be, but it was a way that worked with that beautiful score. People getting upsett that Jon did not do it? Or somebody else?! Come on.... the show did'nt do what you wanted?? Poor you. People saying the reason for Jons resurrection was pointless cause he didnt get to stab good-old NK himself is pathetic. Cause of Jon they even stod the chance! And THE SERIES IS NOT EVEN OVER YET!! The army of the dead and the night king is a plot divise not a character. Its about making people fight together for the possibilety to live together. Its a fantastic way to reunite Westeros once and for all before the last battle of the rightful ruler. I do agree that some parts, like the dead ice dragon not being more dangerous with Jon at the end was a little to Hollywood just to make it exiting, but it did work so why lash out. I enjoyed every sec. The writing of the show has gone down the last seasons, but they made this very well. I'd say that this episode, now at the end of GoT, proves that Game of Thrones might be the best TV-series ever.
Homeland (2011)
This show is a 9-10. People need to stop rating this 1 star cause they don't "agree" with the show.
I'm from Norway and this is where I live, but off course I know alot about the american goverment and precarious situations acquiring these days and in the past. This show is amongst, not only the greatest spy-movies/shows, but also greatest TV-shows. The show is daring making plots around things occurring in the world today. The way it holds a political correctness about depicting these events is not always as correct as it could be, or as correct as people want it to be. But this is NOT necessarily a statement, THIS IS A TV-SHOW, and a god damn good one at that! (Seriously, people need to stop rating good meterial as low as 1 star on this site) Sure, as most shows it doesn't hold the same quality through EVERY season. But belive me, the first, second and fourth in particularly are fantastic. The sixth (and mabey third) weren't that good, but I just finished watching season 7 and it was almost as good as the begining again! If you like spy-thrillers, amazing acting performances, and brilliant writing and realistic excitement; WATCH HOMELAND.
House M.D.: Out of the Chute (2011)
Amongst my favourites!
Ok, not a perfect episode. But for me it was. One of the reasons is that my expectations were really low. After a half-good season 7, and the last episode being entertaining, daring, diffrent and also made a emotional decision witch would make die-hard House fans sceptical about continuing to care. This episode did a perfect job follwing the previous. And the ending of this one is one of the best House scenes I've seen. Also entertaining the way House deals with the loss from the episode before. Staying at a hotel with a bow and arrow... god that was funny and shocking.
Personally I'd name this together with "Houses Head", "Broken", "Three Stories" and "No Reason": 10/10
