Gabriel's Rapture: Part Three (2022)
TOO LONG!
Although the filmmaking has improved, editing still needs work. Scenes lasted way too long--it dragged so much--it bored me. I liked the books and read this one in 2 days. It took me 2 days to finish this movie. The film scoring was better in this and it was nice to see more people/extras in scenes.
InstaFame (2020)
Like Nicky Whelan but. . .
I am joining the choir of asking why do you continually get adults to play teenagers? Not 21 or 22 but 32, 34, 26, 25, etc. Absolutely ridiculous. For that, a low score.
Deck the Heart (2021)
Good intentions but. . .
Editing was bad, stilted dialogue; lighting off many places, not to mention acting varied to sometimes okay to horrible. Cute story but ran too slowly; some scenes last too long. 4 stars for good intentions and cute leads.
Gabriel's Inferno: Part One (2020)
5 is meh
Poorly paced, scripted and directed in each segment. I have to admit even in the book I laughed at some the "trauma" Julia faced. It was bad but not so bad as what many women face. Acting was mediocre at best. I loved looking at Giulio Berutti but that can't carry 5 hours Very little chemistry between the leads. Nothing magical with directing at all. Ambitious for the streaming service; just fine more talented people to put these projects together.
A Deadly Adoption (2015)
Clever for Lifetime TV
This is typical Lifetime fodder, neither good nor bad; pretty much middle of the pack. Nothing unique about this. Yes, when you watch Ferrell, you expect him to do something "over the top" to legitimize it as a spoof but that doesn't happen. It's not great or even good drama. It is mediocre. I know of what I speak because I have seen a lot of the Lifetime original movies.
Stating that, it can't be stated as satire. It is far too subtle to be considered satire. It can have a life of it's own as bad Lifetime but it's not really bad enough.
I don't know why Ferrell and Wiig did this movie.
I will say, however, that Lifetime, had a coup with this because it is has created a stir in social media and that may have been the outcome desired all along.
Revenge (2011)
Loved this dark drama
Season 1 was very good but the problem is how do you prolong something that could be over in one season? I have to admit I am a sucker for some of the eye candy. I believe the characters wring dry all the emotion they can from the scripts, but I am quite bewildered why seemingly smart people don't realize they may be spied on via video and audio. I also don't understand why someone who is governor of the state doesn't have his staff members with him. It's like Conrad simply left the governorship once he arrives in The Hamptons. Love Season 1. Almost perfect. Season 2 had some parts that I really like but began to slip quite a bit and now let's see what Season 3 holds. As others have stated, just a regular soap opera. One that I can still have a guilty pleasure in watching. Loved this dark drama once but now it's a pretty good soap opera. The 9 is now 6 or 7.
A Christmas Proposal (2008)
Lame and Really Bad
I have to agree with the other viewers, this one is a waste of time and, believe me, I have wasted my time with Lifetime movies aplenty but this is below average. I was really confused with the lush mountainside and all the flowers abloom and, yet, the townspeople are wearing Christmas sweaters, ties, etc. Please, give us a break. Even at Tom Arnold's place that I believe is supposed to be around New York City has green leafy trees and grass. Looks more like June?? Story is predictable and boring. I enjoyed seeing Patty McCormack (spelling??) and she looked good. I wanted to check out Nicole Eggert as well. Did, now that's enough! Please don't waste your time with this one--I can't see how anyone could have the Christmas spirit with this piece of nothing!
A Deadly Vision (1997)
just a comment
I thought I would watch this; it was on LMN. At first I thought the movie might be based on a novel I had read. I then noticed a local anchorwoman playing an anchorwoman. I continued to watch and said I bet this was something made in Kansas City. I noticed a few local places and the Rockhill Express Bus. Someone made a comment about Peter Niven in the movie. He used to go by Kip Niven and his dad's name may be David but it isn't David Niven, the actor. Kip is from the Kansas City area. The movie is mediocre or slightly below mediocre. Although Ellen Burstyn is in it, her role as the overzealous Catholic mother was sort of a Piper Laurie from Carrie. Also Peter Boyle had a role in it. I just wanted to see some of the locals in the movie. Other than that, not much to watch although Matthew Settle isn't too bad to look at.
