Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert (2008)
CalinWins is an idiot!
User CalinWins put the stupidest comment for a rating that I think I've ever seen.
This is NOT a movie! It's almost like she couldn't tell that and thought it just had a weak plot.
This is a concert folks, NOT a movie! It was the best video concert I've ever seen. And the 3-D was also the best I've ever seen.
The price was extremely steep ($15 here in Ohio, even for a matinée viewing), but my girls were thrilled and I was surprised at how good Miley was.
It was not "pure" concert incidentally, but had bits and pieces of documentary with the show.
As a 41 year old man, I thought it was good, but would have rather seen Def Leppard of course, but my 11 and 7 year olds thought it was the bomb!
The Last Mimzy (2007)
An important film in the realm of SciFi
This film will go down as a truly important and remembered film in SciFi. It is along the order of Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T. The Extra Terrestrial.
People who only like Action/Adventure flicks won't have enough brain cells to get it, but true SciFi fans (the types who can read books too) will love this film. It's very powerful and emotional.
It had some minor problems as any film does. There were some weak acting moments and a poor edit that should have been cut tighter, but in general it was excellent.
In particular, 6yr old newcomer Rhiannon Leigh Wryn as the lead character Emma Wilder did a wonderful job. Unbelievable that a 6 year old child could be that effective in a role.
I highly recommend this well written and directed film. It's one to remember.
Dragon (2006)
Not bad considering
I'm seeing all of these negative comments about this movie, but clearly these are people who don't know the industry at all.
Actually, I was extremely impressed, given the budget. I've seen worse films that cost WAY more to make.
The negative people here are all comparing this film to films with $100 million to $150 million dollar budgets. The budget on this film was not $100 million, or $10 Million, or even ONE million dollars. It was only half a million.
I very recently saw poorer special effects on a film which had a budget of more than ten times this amount. (The budget on that one was around $7 million, so roughly 14 times the budget that this film had.) There were some problems with the film, sure, but I expected much, much less of a film with less than a one million dollar budget.
They did a great job with what they had.
Even Stargate, a show I LOVE, and which has a much higher budget per episode than this entire movie cost, had a "dragon" recently that was nowhere near as good as this one.
If you want to critique a movie, compare apples to apples, not apples to diamonds. I'm sure if this film had a budget that was 200 to 300 times higher, it would have been considerably better, but they did a hell of a job with what they had.
