Nathan for You: Souvenir Shop; ELAIFF (2014)
Must watch
Really good. Also watch the petting zoo pig episode.
How to Steal a Million (1966)
A charming blue-eyed gentleman like Peter O'Toole...
I loved this movie, despite the possibility it may not have been "great" or would never win an Oscar, or anything else like that. The one thing that has always stuck with me, now and forever, is that wonderfully smooth manner of his (gotta love the Irish!), and those vibrantly heart-melting blue eyes. If you're a big Audrey Hepburn fan, I suggest watching this, (nothing personal, I just prefer her longer styled hair, and her French ways) and don't miss the unforgettable closet scene. Keep a lookout for the Hitchcock that frightens her out of her wits!
Noises Off... (1992)
The absolute funniest movie I have EVER seen. . .
Honestly, I'm faintly shocked that anyone who has seen this movie, and commented on it, could possibly say otherwise that it's the most uproarious comedy ever. I've seen some funny films, but none have ever been able to compare with this one movie I saw years ago, never expecting to find a gem like this one.
You may say I'm a fan. Maybe even a tad bit obsessive, which I've known to be, at times. Usually these fits of passion don't last very long. But ever since I've seen this movie, and the three times after that one great moment, whenever someone asks me what the funniest movie I've ever seen was, this title always brings a smile to my lips, before I say, "Noises Off."
The first time I saw this, I laughed so hard I peed in my pants. Who would have known, that some little video, that could seem so innocuous, (plus I'd never heard another soul ever watching it before) could possibly be so hilarious. It's that great, that honest-to-God funny, and I hope you get the chance to see it someday too, and share the laughter.
Romeo and Juliet (1968)
The best version of Shakespeare's tale that I've seen yet...
I know everyone's been ranting and raving about the modern "Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet", but whoever said that was either blind, deaf, and dumb, or they haven't seen THIS version. It's truly excellent, and there's really nothing more to add. The characters are perfect, lovely and young and innocent, yet showing a mature strength as Shakespeare had intended. Olivia Hussey is positively the epitome of beauty and grace, so that I'm surprised she never had any more major movies known to date. Leonard Whiting too had an innocent charm, and still retained a boyish cuteness. The background setting of Italy was perfection in itself, and the director Franco Zeffirelli was a genius when he created this version. Arguably the best R & J movie ever, a must see highly recommended. :)
Someone Like You... (2001)
Hugh Jackman is all I need to say. . .
I know this movie isn't perfect, or one of the best, but I love Hugh Jackman after seeing it, and I think it's therefore not a total loss. He needs to play in more movies. I like the simple, clean-cut romance where the guy, who's a stud, wins over the reluctant naive girl, who is delusioned into falling for the wrong guy, but the right guy realizes he's in love with her, and eventually can break down the barriers within himself to open up to her. *sigh* I wish there were more Hugh Jackmans out there, he's fantastic. And no, I'm not a silly innocent!
Wings (1990)
My favorite show when I was growing up. . .
I wonder if it's still playing now? On USA network, I remember it still. But I remember it, clear as day, watching just about each and every episode. It was such a great TV show series, and I loved spending every night, watching that after we'd been good and finished dinner. Ah, those wonderful growing up years with the family. Helen, Brian, Joe, Antonio, Lowell, Roy, and Faye... oh, so funny...
