Battlestar Galactica (2004)
Pretense-free review
Battlestar Galactica's newest incarnation is downright enjoyable. The characters are dynamic and though not always realistic, they are always endearing. The storyline of the show is occasionally ridiculous, yet also enjoyable. What really separates this show from other sci-fi low budget nonsense is the acting. The actors, especially Olmos, completely commit to their characters and situations, no matter how ridiculous the script might be. In doing so they make it easy for the audience to get involved and come along for the ride. Have you seen many of these episode plots before on other shows? yes. Have you seen these characters on other shows? probably. But you've never seen them given the attention they deserve to make this show something of it's very own. It's a little bit of Lost, a little bit of Jericho, a little bit of star trek, and a little bit of firefly all thrown into 1. Sound great? maybe not. Sound enjoyable? damn straight.
The Whoopee Boys (1986)
Ridiculous Hilarity
This Movie is absolutely hilarious. Not only because of the writing and acting, but because it is so...insane. Every Scene exists merely to justify the next, and every five minutes you find yourself thinking "how in the hell did the characters get into this?" Paul Rodriguez uses this movie as nothing more than a platform for his standup routine. *SPOILER* The most insane scene in the movie occurs during the end, in which the creators of the movie invented a game known as "Crosscourts." IT was at this point that I realized I no longer had any idea what was happening. Even so, when it was all over, I discovered taht I had loved the movie and had not wasted my time. My Advice is to be wary if you don't like lunacy and madness, but otherwise, go for it.
