Awful, just awful...
3 August 2009
i am currently watching 'Natural Born Killers' at the moment, and i have to say i am really really disappointed. i am deciding whether to carry on watching it or turn it off, i just thought i'd still watch it while reviewing how atrocious it is. OK so maybe my expectations were too high. Coming from a story by Quentin Tarantino and directed by Oliver Stone, i was expecting almost a masterpiece, but all i've got is 2 hours of trashy, cheesy, pointless crap. There is really no apparent storyline, and even if there was, the editing is so jumpy and fast it's hard to keep up with it! The dialogue is diabolical which creates zero affection or engagement with the characters, and the camera-work is so amateur it makes me think if they picked up a drunk old guy from a local pub and threw him a camera at him. I would never recommend this film to anyone i know, not even my dog.

Much better than i expected!
23 June 2009
I have just watched 'Land of the Lost' and i was curious to find out what everyone else thought about it. As i was expecting to see a family, comedy film i was pleasantly surprised that it was not just your ordinary clichéd family movie but something aimed for a slightly older audience. This maybe why it was so poorly received.

Looking at trailers and TV spots, this movie did really look like just another pointless summer blockbuster, which may have appealed to all you people looking for something family friendly. But for me i was so thrilled to be watching something that is just plain FUN! That's all it is! just fun, fun, fun!

You people that have posted nothing but negative comments about this title don't know a great movie if it slapped you in the face. so relax a little, sit back again and realise that your watching another fantastic movie from will ferrell, and lets face it: when has will ferrell released a movie for families? (excluding ELF)

Just stop your complaining and enjoy a non-stop, exciting, unpredictable movie that has everything you could ask for. and even more---- what do you really expect from a movie based on a TV show created by someone who practically lived off acid? Three words to sum up this movie: trippy, adventurous and fun!

Another masterpiece from foreign cinema...
5 June 2009
OK.. so let me set the record straight, those of you looking for a cheesy, predictable horror film (and don't even get me started on those) then just stop reading now, get off this page and rent yourself a copy of 'Freddy vs Jason vs Leatherface vs Jigsaw' This is not only horror at it's finest, but also European cinema. I, for one, am a great fan of foreign film, in fact, i think it's better than all this mainstream crap you get down in Hollywood nowadays, so that's why i loved watching 'Let the right one in', every single second of it.

The cinematography was artistic and outstanding, the acting (especially the children) was jaw-dropping, the direction was near perfect, and on top of all that the storyline was the best, most immense vampire story i have ever seen on film.

For every fan of European cinema, or for anyone looking for something beyond your average, cliché-ridden horror film, choose 'Let the right one in'

You will not regret it!

While your here, why not check out my own movie and see what you think, just click the link to watch it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftnsUZRD-o0

Swingers (1996)

Dispointing
1 April 2009
After hearing tons and tons of great reviews and recommendations i thought i would give this film a try, and seeing as Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau are, at the moment, some of the best comedy performers/directors in Hollywood, i was really waiting to be amazed by Swingers.

All i can say is what a letdown! The first 20 minutes had me going as i was getting into the swing of things but the movie just appeared to drag on and on and half way through the movie i simply didn't care. The acting is spot-on and the chemistry between the two main characters is unique, what this film lacked was it's storyline.

Swingers dragged on so much that i nearly drifted off into a deep sleep, and this was half 2 in the afternoon. I turned the film off after an hour, hugely disappointed and in disbelief that this was the film that made these two actors who they are today.

Swingers may be fun for a lot of people but it certainly wasn't for me, and it has been one of the most disappointing films i have seen for a long time.

I Hate Huckabees!
1 April 2009
This movie was like watching paint dry: boring, slow, unfunny and no-one gives a sh*t.

I knew that i wasn't going to see a masterpiece when i put the movie on as i read various reviews beforehand, but wow, i never in a million years realised it was gonna be so damn rubbish! I heart huckabees tried and tried to mix intelligence with humour but it just didn't work! Every time an interesting piece of information came to the screen, whether it was about life, existence or whatever, it was just overblown by the biggest amount of stupidness ever appeared on screen.

I am actually in disbelief that so many great actors have wasted their talent in this movie only to be humiliated with their childish antics. When the film tried to be funny it wasn't, and when it tried to be smart it really wasn't! I don't really know who this jason schwartzmen as this is the first movie I've seen him in, but to be honest i really don't care, i just want my 100 minutes of my life back which i lost when watching this crap.

Hollywood, if your reading this, get sorted! Maybe if you spent a little more time focusing on your scripting, characters and actor's hairdos than you could have actually made a classic, instead of making this horrendous piece of sewage.

Excellent British Film!
30 March 2009
I watched 24 hour party people for the first time today and all i can say is what a great film this is! It's so fantastic to see the cream of British talent merged into a film that not only details events leading up to the what-we-now-call the rave culture but it displays a thoroughly in-depth representation of lifestyle in the country with so much British humour pouring out of it. Not knowing much about the punk-rock culture that gripped the world at that time, i was unaware of what to expect and probably thought i'd be seeing another 'Human Traffic', but i couldn't have been more wrong. '24 Hour Party People' sends you on a journey through the life of TV presenter/founder of Factory Records Tony Wilson, a production company that put such world-famous bands on the map such as 'Happy Mondays' and 'Joy Division'. With so many characters bursting with charisma and energy along the way, it's so hard to believe that such a wide variety of British actors (John Simm, Paddy Considine, Peter Kay, Shirley Henderson and Rob Brydon to name but a few) can actually make a film like this work, but not even these so talented performers damage the pace and genuity of such a work of art.

This film sometimes had me believing whether what i was watching was fact or fiction, with the film largely based on true events and shot in mockumentary for, i sometimes struggled to realize history from point-of-views, but this only heightened the originality and structure of the movie. At of everything great about this movie, Steve Coogan has to come out at best. Everything he does is so down-right hilarious yet meaningful, bringing all of the brilliant characters to the height of their game. He basically moulds the entirety of the film and never shows signs of stopping when all has failed. OK so i could see hints of Alan Partrige in him (most notably the first section of the film when he hang-glides) but this only jolted me into hysterics more. This is a quality actor who should never be overlooked as one of Britain's all-time performers.

Overall, i don't really have anything particularly bad to say about this film, and that's usually not the case for me! So if your a British citizen, whether or not you want to explore the origins of a key culture in our society (even today) this film is for you! I don't really know how it will go down with the rest of the world as their could be many mixed reviews, this is all down to the distribution and making of the film, you don't know whether it could be mainstream cinema or British indie. But this shouldn't put you off at all, so to see the best British comedians and actors with more chemistry (and chemicals) than a science lab, go out and get 24 Hour Party People! You will not regret it!

p.s. the only thing it was missing was Lee Evans! :P

Weeds (2005–2012)

love it!
11 February 2009
I don't really get hooked on a TV series, i usually just watch a show if it's on or not or if I'm in the mood. But i have to say Weeds got me more hooked than a crack-addled prostitute. Every episode just wanted me to watch the next one and i ended up buying every season. Gotta say season 2 is the best if i had to choose one but its a hard decision. Every time Doug comes on screen I'm in stitches, has to be the funniest, wittiest and dopey character ever invented for TV. This is the most creative, most hilarious TV show since friends, and definitely the most addictive. Once you watch Weeds, you'll want to watch it again and again and again.

Absolute crap!
11 February 2009
Watched this about a week ago and couldn't even finish it. Maybe one of the most appalling films I've seen, so dramatised and utterly stupid. Want a scary hand-held movie? My advice is to watch REC, you'll be scared out of your wit.

Compared to the horror masterpieces like REC, Cloverfield and even Quarantine which are all shot in the same way, it seems like a group of teenagers who have a video camera and don't know what to do with it. This film tries to be something it's not, the zombies aren't scary and the film just drags on and on and on. DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE! you have been warned.

I think it's time for George A Romero to go back into his grave.
