The Notebook (2004)
Heartwarming romantic movie
Being a sucker of romantic movies, i couldn't stopped myself loving this movie.
Ryan Gsling and Rachel McAdams acted brilliantly. There was a great chemistry between them.
This movie had a message and it was that true love never dies. You can watch this movie even after 15 years and still connect and feel to love and be loved.
Storry-telling at its best with a clean, touching romantic movie that is bound to be remembered for years.............
---------------------------
Final Verdict:
Fall in love and be loved as thats the best feeling one can ever have!!! Highly Recommended :)
Donnie Darko (2001)
Most over-rated rubbish I've EVER watched
well, IMDb Rating:8.4. Seriously?
OMG!I couldn't hate myself for watching this movie at first. Its a sheer waste of my time and intelligence. So quickly i sum up up my review before wasting more time on this piece of crap ------------------------------
Positives: None (Not even if I see the movie with a magnifying glass to notice one) -----------------------------
Negatives:
- The entire movie. I don't understand why this movie was even made
- Poor use special effects in showing the rabbit
- No script and story : I beg people to let me know what this movie was all about? I believe even the writer is clueless of what he wanted to portray
- Terrible acting
----------------------------
Final Verdict:
This Plot isn't intelligent. Creating a movie nobody would ever understand (unless its explained in a book) is not hard to do. This film is the dullest, most over-rated rubbish I've watched!
The Prestige (2006)
Nolan at his best
I was really impressed with this movie, the way it was written, acted and directed.
I call this as film-making at his best!!!!!!!!
-------------------------------------- Negatives : None --------------------------------------
Positives:
1- Story : A very original and gripping story 2- Acting was superb 3- Good dialogues 4- Superb direction 5- Fast paced 6- Intelligent film-making
-------------------------------
Final Verdict
A movie with the power of becoming a cult classic, ''The Prestige'' is magical. In every sense of the word.---10/10
The Dark Knight (2008)
Simply mind blowing!!!!!
I am a very strict critics and rarely i give a good rating to any movie unless its a masterpiece or is offering something special.
Below are my thoughts about this movie: Negatives: None Positives: 1- Acting: It was a never seen before acting by Heath Ledger. Terrrific. He deserves an Oscar here.Bravo!!! 2-Pace: The movie was very fast paced. It was engaging edge of the seat action crime thriller 3- Direction: Superb direction by Nolan especially in the scene when Ledger blows the hospital 4-Action: Wow!!!! This is called as an action Final Verdict: It was the only movie where I loved the villain to win and it happened. Very entertaining, great acting and direction.
Highly recommended
Inception (2010)
Utterly disappointed
To begin with, let me inform that Christopher Nolan is one of my favorite directors as 2 of my favorite movies (The Dark Knight and The Prestige) are the work of the genius.
Expectations were very high. However below are the points which i would like to highlight: The Good: The sets were beautiful. The concept seems something new The bad: 1- PACE: Thts the first thing that defines a good or bad movie for movie.I got bored within 20 minutes. The screenplay wasn't convincing enough to keep me glued to the screen for 2 hours and 30 minutes.
2- Trying to be over-complex: I feel Nolan tried his best to make this movie as complex as possible. It was unnecessarily stretched for 2 hours adding layers after layers. I don't understand why someone would like to watch this movie twice to get the point. Why should one care if at the end he was dreaming or not? 3- I felt that the shots that were shown in snow were unnecessarily and could have been avoided.
final Verdict: Highly over hyped as i don't understand what people liked about this movie as when i ask people who have given high ratings to this movie about the story they have nothing much to say.
Give it miss. Not recommended
Fracture (2007)
Mindless movie with dozens of plot holes
I had planned to watch all the courtroom dramas movies this weekend and fracture was one of the shortlisted movies.
IMDb Rating : 7.1 One Question : Why? On what ground? Positives: Hardly anything Negatives (Don't know from where to start): 1- PACE : The never never starts. The story gets stretched & stretched without progressing at a very slow pace. After almost 45 minutes you feel bored and disintrested 2- Not typical courtroom drama you expect to see 3- There were not any evidence inspite of the cameras being placed all over 4- Courtroom drama got over within 2 minutes without any actual debate 5- Lots of plot holes 6-Ending was terrible (Why he need to kill his wife when she was already in coma? and while he was supposed to leave the country?) Final Verdict: Give a miss to this movie.Instead watch "Few good men" for viewing a better courtroom drama and well acted movie
The Godfather (1972)
Highly overrated Movie...
IMDb Rating: 9.2 Major awards : Won 3 Oscars Best actor award :Marlon Brando
One question : Did it deserved? Answer: Absolutely Not
I didn't grow up in the 70s, and I understand that every movie belongs to its generation. After watching this movie, although I cant say I didn't enjoy it, I am far from considering it best movie ever; and certainly it is absolutely preposterous to make it #1 here.I sat down expecting to watch the most spectacular cinematic experience of my life - but instead I ended up sitting rather bored for the good part of 3 hours.I had a very high expectations from this movie after reading lots of user reviews that this movie is a classic cult and base for all the upcoming mafia stories.
My problems with this movie:
1- Pace : the movie was 3 hours long. I couldn't watch it at one go as it became too boring in the middle
2- Character development : There was no character development. I couldn't understand why Al pacino fell in love with the gal in Sicily spite of having a girlfriend and how shamelessly he came back to his x girlfriend after loosing his wife without giving any concrete explanation
3- Editing: The entire trip to Sicily was unwanted and could be avoided to shorten the movie. There were many unnecesarly scenes in the movie
4- Acting : Personally I don't think Marlon Brando was suitable for this movie. As for a gangster I would consider someone with a very high vocal. I don't feel he deserved the Oscar as he did nothing extra ordinary
The Good:
1- James Caan acting 2- Good start to the movie 3- Few good scenes here and there 4- Good acting by Al Pacino in the climax
Final Verdict: Highly Overrated. Definitely not the "best movie ever material"
Body sob 19 (2007)
No more Horror movies...please!!!
I am highly surprise that why these kind of movies are labelled as "horror".This movie is more like a psychological suspense movie rather then horror.
The plot is taken from various movies like "Identity","Fight Club" where personality disorder is depicted at the end of the movie.
I am a huge fan of Thailand horror movies but this was movie was a letdown in terms of script and the climax.
Final Verdict - Acting:5/10 Script:3/10 Cinematography:6/10 Direction:4/10
Is this movie recommended : No (Give it a miss)
Intacto (2001)
Could have done much better !!!!
I watched this movie with a very expectation as the plot was kinda similar to one of the Indian movie "Luck". However this movie didn't live upto my expectations due to poor storyline & climax.
The movie started at a good pace.In fact the movie was fast paced till climax.Below are the plot holes or unresolved mystries that I observed:
1)What was "Tomás" going to win after being labelled as the "luckiest man in the world"?...
2)What "Federico" got by doing all these and was afterall was he blessed with luck? If not then why he was not allowing Tomás to touch him?
3)Why the lady cop was 24 hours behind them? Was she the only one from the entire police department to go behind Tomas(Thief).
4)It is stupid to consider the lady cop as lucky just considering the fact that she survived a car accident
5)The luck games were very few and short
Final Verdict:
The Good: a) Beautiful Locations b) Camera work c) Dark look of the movie
The bad: a)Script b)Average direction c)Poor dialogues
- Better watch the Indian version "LUCK" then wasting time on this Spanish movie
Avatar (2009)
Sheer waste of 300 million
James Cameron's Avatar was publicised and marketed well....the film got a thumps up from the critics all around the world.....After watching 2012 & experiencing one of the best special effects in my life ,i hoped to feel the same for avatar as well.
However,i was very disappointed after watching this mega budget movie which had very few to offer.Below are the negatives:
1) Pace & Length of the movie : The movie was 2 and half hours long.i have no problem with the lenght.however the movie was very boring .the first 20 minutes is wasted in useless dialouges.the movie picks up the pace in the final 30 minutes.
2)CGI : I was not at all impressed with the 3D CGI...I was expecting something mindblowing in terms of effects just like 2012....however that didn't happen.....I was wearing glasses and didn't feel anything real as mentioned by all the critics....I didn't feel any difference in the 2d version & the 3d version of the movie....the effects used in the films were no where near to 2012
3)Story: It was a meaningless and predictable story....It became repetitive in the middle and don't feel like movie is leading anywhere.....Only the last 30 minutes were worth watching......
4) No good dialouges I don't recommend this movie to any1....It's a sheer waste of money exactly the way James Cameron did with this movie......
Janghwa, Hongryeon (2003)
Horrific joke for the audience!!!!!!!
I was truly disappointed after watching this movie with my friends.I had researched a lot about the best Asian horror movies and heard a lot about this movie.Even the ratings are high everywhere....I started my horror movie collection with the Shutter followed by Alone(Both Thailand horrors)which were excellent. This was the third horror movie i watched this week, but then this was not at all scary or even close to being labelled as a horror movie.
The sorry started at a very slow pace. Both the gals were cute..after an hour passed i expected that some scar scene will pop up .but nothing of that sort happened.
The ending was so confusing. No one understood what happened.I understand this movie is labelled as physchological horror movie but then for that u need to at least understand the story.the story was neither gripping nor interesting.i felt i wasted 2 hours of mine coming with nothing at the end. There is not a single scar scene in the movie.
Truly a big disappointment.I recommend ppl not to see this movie and waste your time, else your condition will be just like mine........Frustrated!!!!!!!!!
