Arrambam (2013)

Trend setter Movie of the year

After Kamalhasan's "Vishwaroopam", "Arrambam" is the movie with good technical standards with international style and making.

The plot is very simple. Especially the flashback scenes are very old. we had seen more like that in the movies of olden days.But the idea of presenting it in an interesting manner with latest technical aspects makes the movie more powerful.

Ajithkumar really the one man show of the movie. Definitely his fans would enjoy this movie.Because he did this movie on his own style as like Jamesbond flick. After "Billa" this movie shows him more stylish especially as a raw officer he steals the heart of everyone who is watching the movie by his stylish look and mannerism. We cannot imagine any other actors in the industry for doing this role.

I think Vishnuvardan written this script only for Ajith. Thats why the movie came out in as usual Ajith style after "Billa".

Arya on the other hand did his part very well.Fat Arya scenes at the beginning was more impressive. Right choice of an actor for the role of software engineer.

Nayanthara not having more scenes to do with lead actors but justifies her role with good acting. Tapsee was very cute and bubbly throughout the movie. Did very impressive acting as a drama girl.

other cast like Rana,Kishore,Mahesh and Atul Kulkarni given the best acting for their roles.

Vishnuvardan first time collaboration with writers Subha works very well. Even though the more was an inspiration of "Swordfish" it was written in an interesting manner by keeping Ajith and Tamil audience in the mind as well. Dialogs are more powerful. Ajith dialogs are very powerful especially at the time of Raw officer and at the climax sequences.

Technically the movie is very excellent. Om Prakash cinematography and Sreekar Prasad's editing work makes the movie to an international style and standards. Especially Saudi scenes are very powerful.

Music by Yuvan gives more support."Adadada Aarambame" is the treat for all Ajith fans."En fuse" is very lovable and catchy."Melala Vedikidhu" is the colorful song did really good. "stylish Tamizhachi" is the stylish item number at the end.

Yuvan's BG score was more powerful than songs. His theme for Ajith sequences are very powerful. After "Billa" and "Mankatha" this movie is the best movie for Yuvan and Ajith collaboration.

One more success for Vishnu-Ajith-Yuvan collaboration.

After Blockbuster "Vishvaroopam" and "Singam II" this movie "Arrambam" should become an another Blockbuster of the year and no doubt about it.

Overall "Arrambam" is the real entertainer for this Diwali. Especially this Diwali is Thala Diwali for all Ajith fans.

Must watch Movie of the year.

Maryan (2013)

A Soulful Tale of Love,Emotions, Pain and Tragedy

"Maryan" a typical movie came out this year with a very strong performance by Dhanush and Parvathy as the lead and also with A.R.Rahman's remarkable music.

Director Bharatbala who did "Jana Gana Mana" album with A.R.Rahman (an Oscar award winner) before given his first directional venture "Maryan" with some soulful love, emotions, pain and tragedy.

A real incident should be equally mixed with strong love and all commercial elements through "Maryan". But it is presented in a slow pace that creates the question "how this movie do well at box office collection?" "Maryan" plot remembers Manirathnam's "Roja" that's a major drawback of story narration by the director. Also the slow pace of the screenplay remembers the style of Manirathnam makings.

The plot is very simple and the scenes should be easily identified by the audience but through strong performance by the lead pair the movie gets more interesting towards the end. First half is packed with full of love and emotions by the lead pair. Second half is fully packed with tragedy and survival.

Dhanush (an award winning actor) has given a solid performance through the character Maryan and gives life to the movie. Definitely this year he should be the one who will give a strong competition to all other actors, those who are hungry to get the National award. As a fisherman and lover in the first half he shows all his skill of acting and as a hostage in the second half he is simply outstanding and brilliant. He goes to his next level of acting abilities through the second half. Especially in sequences like telephone speaking, just before Kadal Rasa song and at the climax portion. He should be appreciated for choosing movies like this after got an award. None of the actor can do this Maryan character except him. Hat's off to him.

Parvathy(who did "Poo" before)did an equally excellent role as Panimalar. She looks very beautiful in the movie and acted very excellent also gives a tough acting competition to Dhanush. One of the rare actresses who plays equal role to hero after a long time in Tamil cinema industry.

Other supporting characters should equally given their best acting. Especially Uma Riaz, Appukutty and Jagan did their job good.

The great plus of the movie is A.R.Rahman's music. Songs are already in chart-busters. All songs are done with beautiful emotions. "Enga Pona Rasa", "Netru Aval Irundaal", "Innum Konjam Neram" are the sweetest melodies "Kadal Rasa", "Nenje Ezhu" are packed with soul and emotions. "Sonapariya" gives the joyful pleasure. BG score also given more support to the movie. Especially in second half A.R did an excellent BG work.

Cinematography by Marc Koninckx is very valuable and shows technically brilliant in many sequences. Scenes like Dhanush waiting inside the sea and desert regions are brilliantly photographed by him. Editing by Vivek Harshan gives equal support for the movie.

Overall "Maryan" is a typical Tamil cinema and it should be appreciated for brilliant performance by Dhanush and Parvathy as the lead and for A.R.Rahman's best music.

Go and watch it for Dhanush and A.R.Rahman.

Singam 2 (2013)

Surya steals the show

Singam II (2013) released after huge expectations of previous success of Singam (2010), which do not be the best as like Singam (2010) but better in its own way.

Definitely this movie has some interesting knots to make the audience happy those who watch it without thinking of Singam (2010) on the mind because it is far away from it. It has lot of actions with high speed racy screenplay from the beginning towards the end.

Surya is the one man show of the movie. He carries the movie on his shoulders towards the end through his powerful acting. A great performance as a tough cop "Duraisingam" stands in the mind of the audience and steals the show. His walking style, dialog delivery, angry looks towards the villain's shows him a perfect policeman as like as a real officers. Hat's off to him.

Hansika as a school girl getting more screens sharing than Anushka in the movie and scores well through her charming character as Sathiya. Anushka is used only for song sequences and having very less screen sharing with Surya. Also she looks very aged in many scenes.

Santhanam's comedy gives support for entertaining the movie. Vivek did his role neatly through his performance as supporting artist. More villains in the movie, among them Rahman and Danny (Hollywood star) did excellent job.

All the other supporting characters having very less screen share in this action movie comparing to Singam (2010). But they did their job well.

Director Hari who always makes an entertaining commercial movie did this movie on his own style with high action package. Story is very weak and predictable but through his racy screenplay and powerful dialogs he makes the audience to sit inside the theater and enjoy the movie towards the end. Length of the movie is too big than Singam(2010), if they cut short this movie for almost 20 minutes then this should be more interesting and very racy.

Cinematographer Priyan did an excellent job. His camera angle makes the movie more effective comparing to his previous works. Editing by V.T.Vijayan gives very racy action entertaining movie through his editing.

Music by Devi Sri Prasad is the major minus for the movie. He cannot repeat the success of Singam (2010) album in this movie. Only BG score of him gives support for the movie.

Overall this movie is better but not the best like Singam (2010). If you watch it by thinking Singam (2010) on the mind then it gives you disappointment because of weak story.

If you watch it without thinking Singam (2010) on the mind then definitely it will entertain you because it has a racy screenplay with power packed actions and dialogs.

Finally watch it for Surya's powerful performance (one man show) and Hari's racy screenplay.

Man of Steel (2013)

Better attempt of superman movie but not the best one.

Man of steel released with high expectations because of the movie directed by Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan who written story along with David S.Goyer and produced the movie also David S.Goyer scripted the film. Christopher Nolan and David S.Goyer are the team who already given a different dimension for Batman series and made huge success over it, can come out with Superman this time.

As like Batman series, this movie also finds the same way of human-superhero movie concepts. Even though Superman having more powers and strengths he got beaten by villain and survive the life to make success by using his powers is the base idea of this movie and that shows the story was strongly written by Christopher Nolan. He always uses this methodology and one of the best examples is Batman series done by him.

Man of steel is a much better reboot of Superman series and comparing to previous movie Superman Returns (2006) of its series; this movie is very good and done with neat story line with lot of action sequences.

Zack Snyder who given movies like 300, Sucker punch directed this movie with high level of technical aspects.CG is very great throughout the movie and its Visual effects are stunning in action sequences.

All the cast are done very neatly. Henry Cavill as a Superman is the best choice and he has done a decent performance. Also the costume and looks of Superman as been changed to very modern that should be liked by all very much. Russell Crowe gives more support for this movie by his brilliant acting. Amy Adams looks very gorgeous throughout the movie and acted very well. Michael Shannon as a villain tried to make fear the audience through his acting. In all the superhero movies villain is considered as the most important than hero, but no one can beat the joker.

The reason for reboot the Superman again by Christopher Nolan is very clear the he finishes the Batman series and tries to make Justice League with Batman and Superman combo. That's why he given this Superman movie on his own style.

But this movie should not be the best like Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Because it lacks in screenplay and sound effects.BG score is not at all the best. Really felt very disturbed BG score. More noisy sound effects are done in this movie. And the screenplay should not be clear and having very lengthy fight sequences makes the movie to feel bore in the second half.

Overall this is a better reboot of Superman series but not the best one.

Naayak (2013)

very commercial mass film

"Naayak" a pure mass Telugu film includes all commercial elements which is equally mixed and entertain the audience well, but logic is missing at many parts of the movie. It is a very regular action story that we had seen so many like this before.

But the only thing is Ramcharan Teja, who did a dual role in the movie is excellent throughout the film. If you are a fan of him, you should never miss this film at any cost. He has done a very excellent dance in this movie comparing to his previous movies. Especially the songs "Layla oh Layla","Hey Naayaku" are visual treat. Also he is very good in fighting sequences..

Kajal and Amalapaul are used only for romance and song sequences. Kajal is good than Amalapaul and she has more screen presence than Amalapaul.

Music is very excellent. All the songs are composed really good and are visual treat for all.

Screenplay is good but because of weak story it doesn't create an any impact.

Overall movie is enjoyable and if you watch it without analyze any logic of the story, then definitely it would entertains you a lot.

Especially it is for die-hard RamCharan fans. And if you are a die-hard fan of Telugu Commercial Mass Masala film, then definitely you will like this movie.

Kadal (2013)

very disappointed movie

This is not the best one from the phenomenal director Manirathnam.Even his past movie "Raavanan" is better then this movie.The problem is screenplay and narration.Cast and crew was given more importance than the story i think.Thats why the movie fails to impress at the end.And while watching movie definitely a question raises in the mind that whether we are truly watching the movie of Manirathnam? because no impact of Manirathnam is seen in the movie.Such a great director fails this time.But the good thing is Gowtham Karthick did excellent job and Thulasi Nair is good.Also Arvind Swamy returns after a long gap should justifies his role with very good acting.Arjun is better in some sequences but worse in many times.The real heroes of the movie make us to sit and watch it are Cinematographer Rajiv Menon and Music director A.R.Rahman.Rajiv Menon did excellent job.Especially songs like "Eley Keechan, Adi-hey, Moongil-totam" are well picturised and music by A.R.Rahman is very good and they are already in chart-busters.Also he did very good BG throughout the movie.So finally i would say that this is not the one we expected from phenomenal director Manirathnam and if you want to see it,just go for Rajiv Menon work and A.R.Rahman's music.Else you just skip watching the movie and see whenever it shown on TV telecast.

Vishwaroopam (2013)

Excellent, Intelligent, Extraordinary

Kamal Hasan is the man who always thinks high about the technical standards of the movie, can did once again a fantastic technically high standard movie. This movie should be the best ever Tamil movie came out till date in Tamil cinema history because of its technical sound and having a standard of an international things with it. As an actor we all know that he is the best man in industry and he proved it once again through this film. Tremendous acting as three different characters. Being a director cum writer, after hey-ram Kamal Hasan Written a brilliant script with high thrilling line. Even Hollywood movies too not defines this much of things about USA and Afganistan. His style of making and narration holds the Tamil cinema to next level and make it as an international movie. This movie is the must watch movie and sure it is one of the best movie ever made. Go and watch it for the brilliance of Kamal Hasan. My rating is 10/10. EXCELLENT....

Ayan (2009)

Great Entertainment and one of the Best Movie of the year...

Ayan is a typical movie in Tamil cinema which makes the industry to next level.This movie is one of the best movie of the year with great action,songs and acting..

K.V.Anand being a cinematographer turned director, shown his high talent for making this movie and became a finest director in Tamil industry. His first directional venture "Kana Kanden" fails at the box office but this movie "Ayan" will make him a proud man.

Suba's dialogs and screenplay sharing with K.V.Anand are come out very excellent and intelligent.

Surya is the excellent performer and he shows it again through the character as Deva in the movie.This movie will never suit for any other stars in the industry.And he is the only man able to do movies like this..

All other supporting characters are very good and did their role very excellent.Especially Prabu,Karunas and Tammanna.

Haris once again given the best songs with massive rocking musics.BG also very good.

Stunt is the very plus of the movie.All the stunt sequences are choreographed very well.

Also cinematography and Editing are very good.

Ayan is the must watch movie and i recommend this movie for all who loves great Tamil entertaining films..

Skyfall (2012)

Worst Bond Movie Very Very Disappointed

Daniel Craig's movies are not that much good than other Bond films.. Casino Royale was his first movie as bond thats why it did well at the box office. But the remaining two movies are very worst one.

Better changing the bond character from next series will help the film to be a successful one..

SKYFALL is very bad movie with low technical aspects... It fails to satisfy the audience who expecting more from the bond movies...

Actions are too bad.. Bond girls are awful.. No helicopter chase.. car chase and all.. Those are all the icons of all bond movies but everything is missing..

Drama is high in the movie.. Lot of dialogs are spoken by the characters rather than action and stunts..

Only hope is MUSIC.... BEST BOND SONG is provided in this movie and BG score is very excellent..

Villain Acting is Excellent..

But apart from all of this, this is one of the worst bond movie till date...

Billa 2 (2012)

Below Average Flick

Expectations are very huge for this movie but it fails and disappointment finally........

Only for Ajith and his acting,style look its worth watching otherwise it is totally waste of time and money..

Songs Picturization are very much disappointing.. Especially GANGSTER song is so disappointed which is coming at the end of movie with bloopers...

Camera work is good but not create that much impression while watching..

Stunts and action sequences are very good especially at the climax.

PLUS - Ajith,Yuvan Music,dialogs....

MINUS - Weak Story,Screenplay and Making..

Overall BILLA2 is so much DISAPPOINTMENT for all.....

Mayakkam Enna (2011)

A painful life of photographer..

A much awaited movie of the year directed by Selvaragavan(who given super hit movie like KadhalKondean,7G,Pudupettai,Ayirathiloruvan)cast Dhanush(a national award winner)and Richa in the lead roles comes out an excellent painful emotional story of a man who wants to become a wildlife photographer..

Ineresting plot in the first half is missing in the second half of the movie.. Selva's screenplay is too slow comparing to his previous film. If he given a strong second half then this movie should become a masterpiece of his career.

Dhanush given a solid performance and film by film he is showing his abilities of acting at one level above from all others of his generation actors.. especially his body language and expressions are very excellent.

Richa a debut film in Tamil have scope for acting and delivered neatly..

Cinematography by Ramjii gives flavors and mind-blowing visuals to the film. His camera-work is amazing and pull one step ahead of an usual Tamil cinemas.

Music score by G.V.Prakashkumar supports very energetic to the film to reach youngsters.The songs are already in chart-busters say Voda-Voda,Kadhal-en-Kadhal,Pirai-Tedum.

overall a worth watching movie.First half is much better than second half.

plus-Dhanush performance,Ramjji cinematography,G.V.Prakash music score,dialogs of Selva.

minus-very slow screenplay specially second half.

Ra.One (2011)

Great in visual,but fails to entertain..

This is one of the highly expected movie in Indian cinema history..

Second sci-fi movie followed by "Endhiran-the Robot(did by Superstar Rajnikanth).

Movie is great in its visual and one of the best VFX in Indian cinema..

But the movie lacks in story,screenplay and direction..

Its too bore to watch the second half.. specially the climax fight is very worst and its look like made for kids to play video game like that..

SRK given his best and KK also did her part well,child did well..

Villain is horrible and music is excellent songs are good too..

But because of very weak story and screenplay it fails to entertain the audience..

obviously it breaks the record of collections of Indian movie but it should not place an important movie list in Indian cinema..

Only kids can like it.. and its movie for them only..

For excellent VFX and Graphics worth watchable.. and i give 6 cheers for that.

Velayudham (2011)

Average Movie..

This movie is not that much good..

But everyone telling this movie is so good and rocking.. its wrong...

Its usual vijay movie with heavy mass entertaining without logic..

Already he did movies like "Tirupatchi","Bagavathi".. and this movie velayudham remember those previous movies in screenplay and story..

Also they tried to give movie like "Anniyan -did by Vikram".. and its obvious in movie when vijay coming as mask man velayudham..

Its usual tamil cinema commercial movie ..

Nothing new in it..

so just for vijay fans its a treat.. and good comeback by vijay after 5 long failures..

Overall its very average movie.. my rating is 5 out of 10

A very good Different attempt by AR.Murugudos..

Surya as Bodhidharma is Execellent..

Sruthi did her character well..

Johny is Rocking the movie.. Good Villain..

First Half is little bit slow.. but First 20 minutes is mind blowing..

Second half gives hope and made film success..

Overall its welcome and appreciate one.. CHEERS TO 7AM ARIVU TEAM..

My Rating is 8.5/10.. Must watchable movie.. Don't miss it..

once again director hari and actor Surya given the movie that all mass elements added with a racing screenplay..

Surya as a cop did a very fantastic role..

anushka is so beautiful in the movie specially in song sequences.

prakashraj asusal performance is good..

devisri prasad music is treat for first benchers.

vivek comedy is good..

all technicians worked well for the movie.

overall its pure hari film.. with great acting by Surya..

deserves the best film for family entertaining movie of the year..

Kamal is an evergreen actor ,writer ,producer given the best once again..

Sivaji is the legend and did legendary performance..

Its the movie for narrating the culture of south Tamilnadu, with excellent script and acting..

Gowthami performed well..

Revathi such an excellent actresses performed really well in the character..

Illayaraja music are rocking elements..

Overall this movie is one the best movie of Tamil cinema history.
