Just Henry (2011)
Poor version of good book
****Spoiler**** This is an awful film; nothing in it that matches the book at all. The book is superb but the characters in the film are travesties of what was written and changed beyond recognition and, in a number of cases left out completely For example Mrs Beaumont has become a teacher; Grace goes to the same school; Pip is left out altogether. There also appears to be no Molly and his grandmother is much more mobile in the early part of the film. These are just some examples of awful script and story. The book was a joy to read The scenery also did not seem to show that Ther had just been a war ( the book was good at painting a picture of 1949 Britain)
Childstar (2004)
No resolution to film
***CONTAINS Spoilers*** This film was very disappointing; it started of with a bratty 12-year old boy and his brattiness is completely explained by all those who surround him. One hopes that he will be redeemed by the end of the film somehow - but this does not happen and neither he nor anyone else comes out with nicely at all. It concerns me that neither his mother or anyone else was worried to see a 12-year old lose his virginity to a "purchased" bimbo and then moving on to alcohol and drugs (well he was smoking what looked to be a joint near the end). It didn't help that the boy star was obviously not 12 but probably more like 15 or 16 and was far more aware of things than a 12-year old should have been. It would have been better if there had been a good resolution at the end with Taylor becoming more personable and NOT still on the downward track to self destruction which he obviously was....
Ender's Game (2013)
Good Film
As long as you ignore the fact that it was ever a book it was a very good film; however if you did compare book to film it was very poor as so much was missed out and so much expanded unnecessarily. The "children" were all 5-10 years too old for their roles. The greatest miss was the development of Dragon Army from nothing to the last game. It was also a shame that more was not made of Bean's contribution to the story from Ender's Shadow. However the graphics and backdrops etc. were excellent and, ignoring the translation from book to film, all the characters did well and the "torment" felt by ender at the end was well portrayed
