Chloë 's leading role.

What a pleasure it was to watch miss Chloë Grace Moretz in this gritty film. She brought to life the character of "Luli" in a very realistic and oh so typical teenager kind of way. I enjoyed the way that the story telling was accentuated through "Luli's" drawings, and the occasional spoken word. Derek Martini's work here was impressive, and I was comforted in the way the ugly scenes were foretold. Andrea Portes book was somewhat more graphic. All the cast worked very well together, and it was cool to see Chloë and Alec Baldwin together again. My attention was held from the first frame to the very last. I hope they bring this out on Bluray, so I can enjoy the tale for years to come.

My views as a Chloe Moretz fan

Warning: Spoilers
The opening scene of Anne (Chloe) standing alone as the camera goes past her was great and showed promise of things to come. I was looking forward to seeing Chloe act out a different role, where she would have nasty things done to her like being abducted, tortured, and left in a swamp to die. Well she was abducted, presumably tortured, and maybe left to die, but as a viewer, you get to see none of it. This movie could have been great, and I'm sure Chloe would have been up to doing all of it, so why didn't they show us what she can do ? All you see of the abduction scene is a flash of a persons hand across her face. No struggle, not even a gasp. Next you see of her is when the police find her in the swamp. She is tied up with ropes and close to death, but you never get a good view of her. All you see is her being cut free and taken away. As they get her back to the car, she looks like she is freshly showered and with clean clothes on. How could this be when she has just had a "end of her life" ordeal with her killers in a swamp ? Did they film all the good stuff, and then delete it all? Did Chloe perform so good that it made everyone else look bad? Was Chloe unable to act the scenes out with any belief ? Did she need a "double" and they couldn't find one ? Something must have happened, because it just lacks so much of what really had to be seen. Even the shot of Anne, with her mom slapping her face when at their house was done so poorly. Why ? Did they need to wrap Chloe in cotton wool so she wouldn't get hurt ? Well, there were some good parts to her role. The skipping rope song was good as well as other little bits here and there. When Chloe's mom, brother, and her read the script prior to going for the audition, they probably thought that the storyline showed lots of promise and that there would be opportunities for Chloe to sink her teeth into some real action scenes. They too, must be disappointed with the outcome. The movie could have had someone else play Anne, but would it be any better? So, what now for Chloe Moretz. She is to do another movie with Jeffery Dean Morgan called "The Rut" I thought they showed good chemistry here, so I am looking forward to that. Next for me will be to watch her with Blake Lively in "Hick", and then with Johnny Depp in "Dark Shadows". Then, I so hope she does "Emily the Strange" and "Kick-ass 2"
