This rare horror film, is very new to me. It was never advertised in any way. Kinda of a reversal version of "Psycho", only cornier. You have a woman who was institutionalized after seeing the deaths of her father and mother. But the real mother died when she was young. That trauma seems to never go away. Her doctor takes her back to the big house she's inherited. Her stepbrother comes by to visit. He is a big schemer. He wants to have the house all to himself. The woman has issues with the stepmother. She never connected with her. Takes a picture of her shrink with her. Like her stepmother, she had issues with the fiancee. Turns out that she was a victim of herself. Her father and stepmother didn't drown accidentally, they were murdered.
Cheesily made, and I saw a part of the prop in the film being seen. That film could use a lot of work. It was something. Great for a rainy day. 2 out of 5 stars

Baron Blood

Mario Bava is known for his horror movies. This one, "Baron Blood" is finest is it can be. A tale of the supernatural, and revenge on the accursed. An American student who visited his uncle in Europe to help restore a castle. Only to later acknowledge that it once belonged to a sadistic baron. The baron was known for torturing the villagers, and he executed a witch after she puts a spell on him. The nephew and another student joined him in the castle one night to resurrect the baron. They succeeded and he went killing new victims. They had to have outside help when the paper he had got blown into the fire.
The plot was fascinating, the scenery was outstanding. With a nice cast like Joseph Cotton and Elke Sommer, this movie is a fine hit. Gave birth to other horror movies later on in years.

This movie ends the "Bloodfist" series with a BANG!

Don "The Dragon" Wilson has done the series of "Bloodfist" justice. Ended it with a Bang. In the first two, he played the same character, 3 through 8, he played different characters. In the 8th installment of the movie, he's a former agent whose teenage son gets to know who his father really is. His son is good at making explosives. Since he lost his mother in a car bombing, he would act out for attention. When his father's past comes out of hiding, he would know what he really did in the past. Fortunately, he can hold on his own, when he gets kidnapped in Ireland by his father's former boss. The fight scenes are top notch. Nothing was lost in this film.
To me, part 4 didn't sell me. I enjoyed the series. Only a non fan can say that. What a way to go, Don!

Rabid

I remember watching the first David Cronenberg movie called "Shivers". That movie was feast for the eyes. In "Rabid", this is a whole new story. This second films deals with a pandemic following an emergency surgery on a biker who was involved in a fiery accident. Her upper body was damaged, and needed to have grafts to repair the body. It's a success, however a orafice developed below the armpit and a phallic protrusion is made causing Rose(Marilyn Chambers) to feed on the victim. When she got out of the hospital, she goes in a barn and tried to feed on the cow. But it made her sick. So when the drunk farmer finds her, she makes the move. The act made by her caused a panic and chaos ensued. The clinic that saved her life may have caused her to be a zombie-like killer without going for a certain organ like the brain. More like a hybrid like fiend.
This low-budget film is worth the watch. Just like the first movie Cronenberg made. I enjoyed it very much.

John Ritter is known for his silly antics. I remember him well in "Three's Company"
Pam Dawber is known as Mindy in "Mork & Mindy". Two former ABC stars in this comedy, "Stay Tuned". Together, they play husband and wife in a marriage ready for disaster. The wife is successful and suffering from neglect, because her husband, who is a couch potato is in his chair about 24/7. A man come by his house with a TV offer, he couldn't refuse. The only catch is, the cost of the offer, is himself. The satellite not only pick up good quality TV, but he and his wife would also be in it as well.
So the couple decided to fight for survival in order to get out of the hellish world of television.
The truth is too much TV isn't good for you. Even I don't do binge watching, this movie parodies the biggest hits of TV and movies. Definitely a keeper. It would open the door to Adam Sandler's "Click". But that's another movie. This John Ritter film is a must have, must see film of all time!

Bloodfist VII: Manhunt

This version of Bloodfist is an improvement from the latter. A better storyline. A lot more action. Don "The Dragon" Wilson returns as a different character. His character always a one man army. This time around he battles the law. He takes out a cop in self defense. Dealing with the new police captain who is no-nonsense. And a witness who ran off with his Cadillac. Leaving a BMW behind is kinda questionable. If it was something fancier, that's way more suspicious. Following the arrest, he would make his escape. When the captain finds out more about the cops killed, he questions the surviving cop.
A cop killing is unforgivable in any rate, but if the cop is crooked, then he or she won't be getting any honorable mention. I remember Steven Williams on "21 Jump Street" when he played Captain Adam Fuller. He still has the same stuff in this film. Way more action than part 6. A lot less disappointing as well. A keeper here!

Don "The Dragon" Wilson always did well in Bloodfist. But the 6th installment of the film, falls short on the action.
He plays a courier in the Air Force when terrorists take over a missile silo. Unknown to the terrorists, he is a one man army. He took out the post watchman easily. And the other men who try to dispatch him fall short of the order.
Cat Sassoon plays the insider of the group. I knew about her fighting skills, wished that she could have done more there.
This movie has some thrills, it could have done more there. Part 4 was a bigger bummer. This movie could have been more fun.

Walking the wastelands of America is a bleak future. The only thing for a companion is a dog, man's best friend. True to meaning. Only here, that man's best friend may be his only best friend. Vic(Don Johnson) and Blood combs the wastelands for food, but Vic wants a woman to have sex with. And the last woman he saw was cut up. Vic is an orphaned teen with no education scour the wastelands for survival, Blood is a telepathic canine who can find food for both he and Vic, and can sense a woman in ways Vic can't. When they find a woman for sex, he would later go to a secret underground world which is decent in one way, but nightmarish in another. The nightmare part is slightly artificial in repopulating the community. Goes to shows that he's much happier up there than here.
This science fiction movie is more cheese than scifi. A lot of comedy in in. I like it still. No need for cut downs. Don Johnson would go on to make bigger hits. This is good for the buffs.

City of the Living Dead

With a film like this, you can't go wrong. The man who made the film did an excellent job.
A priest who hangs himself, a psychic who comes back from the dead. Connection? On the Northeast side of the US. A town called Dunwich which was close to Salem, home of the witch trials. The priest's death caused all the chaos. Many deaths of loved ones resulted in the dead resurgent. Female victims have been turned inside out by the priest, and other grisly acts of violence. I enjoyed every moment of the film, it's a first that really got my interest. Not too bad.

George Romero is a horror genius. "Day of the Dead" is a horror movie to be reckoned with. Like the other zombie films, this movie is well made. The zombies are not hungry for brains, they are waiting for a feast of flesh! A group of scientists and soldiers are in a compound in Florida, trying to survive and escape from the zombie apocalypse. When their commander died, the new guy who replaced him, is a egomaniac, and tyrant. After the scientists discovered that the comrade is doing more than experimentation on the zombies, they instantly decided to escape from the compound. The treacherous commanding officer wants nothing but escape, has later paid the price for his ego.
This movie is fine. The zombies were less brainless than most you see in other zombie films. Especially, "Bub" who knows how to handle a gun. These zombies are cannibals!

Tank Girl

Why do people rush into judgment on a film? Maybe it's not their taste. For me, "Tank Girl" was based on something good, but it didn't pan out for some people.
Lori Petty plays the title character of the film. Foul mouthed, tough, rugged, and ready for anything thrown at her.
Naomi Watts plays Jet, a mousy, yet efficient mechanic who joined Rebecca, aka Tank Girl.
Tank Girl gets thrown in the prison ruled by an evil water corporation, gets her tank, find her friend, gets help from mutants, and not a drop of water be wasted on the villains.
This movie is very adventurous to say the least, it has a few famous stars. So there's no need for cutting down on it. Since it is a cult classic, it is also a keeper.

Finders Keepers

Train rides is something to look forward to. But in "Finders Keepers", it's a train ride you'll never forget. You have a con man who has run a roller derby team. He stiffed the team, after the guy he bought from, stiffed him. When he hears the stadium his team was using is about to be torn down, he rolled out of it letting the team be out for his blood. Earlier, the daughter and her partner steals $5 million dollars from her father's safe and puts it in the coffin heading to New York.
Both movies started in California, but headed towards different destinations. "Silver Streak": Chicago, Illinois; "Finders Keepers: New York. One movie made to the destination, this one did some rerouting. Both movies have good star quality. Only this one avoids a train wreck.
Funny and adventurous at the same time, it's a rarity for some since this is a Jim Carrey beginning of his early career.
The caper of the money is intense, and everyone involved was going to get their share of the action. Seems like the crooks are the smartest in the film. The law knew only of the people, but not the money involved. It's thieves vs. con men. The law was in the middle. Add a scatterbrained actress, and it's a trainwreck ready to happen. This is a must see movie. If you like the open rails, take a ride in "Finders Keepers".

Funeral Home

20 years ago, Alfred Hitchcock created "Psycho". Later, Canada comes up with their version called "Funeral Home". A young woman who comes home from college to stay at a room and board house which years earlier was a funeral home. Her grandmother is living there, and she once said that her grandfather was an very unpleasant person. He runs the funeral home a lot. And he was an alcoholic. Most of the guests there check in, however, they don't check out. The granddaughter has suspicions about the place when there's a lock door in the basement. Her suspicions are true when she finds out what kind of a person her grandmother is about the disappearance of the grandfather.
This is a early slasher film. So many dark scenes. Not too graphic. The granddaughter would later play a leading role a year later in "Happy Birthday to Me".
A good movie for a rainy day. Slightly more entertaining than "Psycho". Close to "Phantasm" without the supernatural effects.
A keeper.

Gloria Guida is known for her sultriness in her films. Playing a school girl tart in this film has its perks. Playing with every guy in school can be fun or cruel. During class, she would reveal much as possible to make her teachers see red as much as possible. The first teacher got sent to the hospital. He didn't have a weak stomach, but he should have had his heart checked out from the first. The second teacher almost got canned for a scandal. But seems like he watched a lot of Jackie Chan films.
Unlike "Blue Jeans", this film has a lot more comedy. Seems like my insides took a turn for the worst. I couldn't stop laughing.
You must be in the best of health when watching this film. Ciao!

The Hills Have Eyes Part II

More flashbacks than the first

Who would have known that there was a sequel to the first HHE film? There were some survivors of the first film, both good and bad. Michael Berryman returns to reprise his role.
The son of the family who was traumatized by the experience returned.
This time, it's a group of dirt bike racers that were participating in a race. They have one of the members of the team who was blind. They also have a dog, like the family who made the wrong turn on the trip. The group was diverse, and they were trying to test the super fuel they were about to use. The surviving freaks from the first film returned to wreak havoc on the new victims.
I'm tired of hearing about the negative responses of this film. It's a slight touch of reminisce about the first experience of the tragedy and it opens up a new scar to a new generation. Wes Craven did well on this film. No additional information to the title, it's just good that a third installment didn't brew.
It's good for a rainy day, just less gore.

I've seen a lot of anthology movies a few times. This one is no different than the other. Not too gory, plainly understandable to say the least.
A unfaithful man is dropped off on the wrong block. Enters a building in which is the mortician works at. Gets the soaked man comfortable as well. When he entered the room, he sees coffins with the bodies in them. The mortician tells the story of each of them and how they have met their fate.
1. A teacher with a sheer disdain for children.
2. A man who killed 6 women, and was executed a year later.
3. A detective with a big ego.
4. A selfish office worker.
5. ?
This is not "Tales from the Crypt", or any other anthology, but it is just as fun.
I remember Bernard Fox from "Bewitched" as Dr. Bombay. It's not a boring film.
Subtle, yet interesting. Highly recommend this piece of work.

Promiscuity is a feature in these ladies. 4 beautiful cheerleaders with no shame to their names. Running wild as much as they can. Their reputation is known at the school they attended. Debbie, Patti, Sharon, and Chris are their names, everything they do is their game. Along with their coach, Ms. Johnson, they are never apart. But there's a sinister situation going on in the school. The janitor, Billy is an agent of a satanic cult. He spies on the girls, put a hex on their clothes, and caused the car to break down. What he doesn't know that Patti, the cheerleader is a witch. He tried to sacrifice her, but her aura caused him to passed out. They go to the sheriff, only to find out that he's the leader of satanists. He and the wife are involved. Only if he listens to her about Patti, he would be understanding. However, they all ended up learning things the hard way.
The movie had Yvonne DeCarlo, "Lily Munster". They called this movie "Satan's Cheerleaders". It's the biggest sexual romp ever. The words said is like "WHAT?" It's a barrel of laughs and eye rolls. Enjoyable to say the least. Talk about nothing to hide!

Horrors of Spider Island

The year "Psycho" came out, this piece of work is made. It's kind of slinky in a way, and close to a cheesy porn. If you thought being on a Island with women is something, well this is for you.
A talent scout and his partner are en route to Singapore for a dance show. The plane caught fire, and crashed into the ocean. The survivors raft toward an island hoping for a rescue. The professor who was living on the island was found dead in the shack. Cause of death? Found in a spider's web! It turned out that he wasn't all alone on the island. Turns out the giant spider was inhabited there years ago. The group decided to make themselves home until help arrived.
One man, and seven women? It looks like a harem. But he didn't have time to fool around, he had to go get help. Only to become a mutant caused by the spider bite.
Alfred Hitchcock made his movies well. The same goes for Corman. The movie here is in questionable quality. It goes in and out too much. Some of the scenes were too dark.
There were fighting of all sorts. And a lot of sex appeal. The movie was not too bad, but it did needed a lot of work to it. But I enjoyed it very much to say the least. Great for a late night romp.

Alligator II: The Mutation

The first Alligator movie was a good horror film. The sequel, kind of mirror the first movie, but a little more on the comedic side.
Both have fine cast of stars. The sequel has a few more stars than the first. The violence level is lower.
The baby alligator from the first one raised terror as an adult. Another baby alligator was flushed. It survived the sewers by eating carcasses of lab animals. It killed two fishermen here. An unscrupulous politician trying to turn a housing complex into a shopping mall. Another cop for being a lone wolf or "Solo Lobo" trying to find the mutant reptile. Unlike the first movie, the sequel deals with the dumping of chemicals. And more hunters trying to take out the mutant.
Joseph Bologna, Brock Peters, Dee Wallace, and other actors did help out this movie. Only if there's more action to it.
The first movie has more horror, this movie has more star power. No putdowns here.

The Children

Should have been called, "Beware of The Children"!

This is a very low budget movie about dangerous children. Yet, it was highly entertaining. "The Children" is like the poor man's "Children of the Damned" in a way. A small yellow cloud hovers around following a leak in a nuclear plant. During a bus ride home from school 5 children who were left on the bus get exposed. Following the cloud pass, the police in the town look desperately for the children. It turned out that they were relatively unharmed. The bus didn't wreck, but no one could find him or the children.
The exposure of the gaseous cloud has turned them into murderous zombies. The only distinct features are the black nails. One touch of the children, and the unlucky victim is toasted. Bullets couldn't take them down, but maiming them was key.
The movie was entertaining, despite the budget done, it's obvious. If they had more money, they could have made the children a lot creepier. They couldn't wear contacts for a sinister look. More medical staff.
Oh well, it's still a good movie.

Alligator

Alligators in the sewers. Some call it a urban legend, but this story really comes to life. In "Alligator", there's nothing else to say. A family goes to Florida, see a alligator show in a tourist trap. A little girl buys a baby alligator, take it to Chicago, Ill. The next day, her father flushed her pet down the commode while she was in school. In ended up in the sewers. Twelve years later, body parts started floating in the water sheds. People are getting killed in the sewers. The police want to know who or what is doing the killing. It couldn't be a man. Teeth marks don't resemble. It's a animal. But what? It's the girl's pet alligator named Ramon. It didn't die from being flushed. It grew up in the sewers, feeding off carcasses of lab animals injected with growth hormones. So it grew bigger than usual. At that size, it wrecked the Cadillac like a wrecking ball.
Robert Forester played the policeman known for losing his partners. Bart Braverman who played Benzer on "Vega$" played the reporter who hounded the policeman and goes to get photos of the killer gator.
Plenty of action and entertainment, it's like no other reptile film ever made. A hit! 4 out of 5 stars
The Godsend

When a blessing becomes a curse...

Killer kids movies are becoming the rage. You got "The Omen" in 1976, "The Brood" in 1979, and now "The Godsend" in 1980. It's a British version of "The Omen", only creepier in its own way. A family of four children take in a pregnant woman(Angela Pleasance) stays with the family, giving birth to a daughter one night, and disappeared from the home the next day. Thinking about having a additional child to the family would give you joy. In their case, it's the exact opposite. When the daughter is placed in the crib with the youngest sibling wouldn't be harmful. How wrong they could be! The youngest one is found dead next to the newest addition. And the downward spiral of pain inflicts the others. They can't find the mother of the daughter, and the father wouldn't be part of the girl's life if he wanted to. And the mother who lost her family would have to bring in the "daughter" as her own even if she feels that the others are instantly out of her life due to Bonnie's influence on her.
"The Godsend" is a British version of "The Omen" with a reversed role. And no biblical matter. It's fun. I enjoyed it very much. Worth it!

In Broad Daylight

A nice thriller

A whodunit film for the ages. An actor who recently lost his sight, an unfaithful wife who is later murdered. Not bad. Richard Boone from "Have Gun-Will Travel" plays actor Tony Chapel, a recently blind man who has to learn his way around him. Stella Stevens plays Elizabeth, his wife who spent a lot of times with his lawyer friend. Suzanne Pleshette, plays Kate, his therapist.
Tony is known for his over-the-top performance. His outbursts of knowing his wife's unfaithfulness, and his feelings of having a seeing eye dog. Unlike the reaction of his wife's indiscretions, he takes the liking of the dog.
A year before his big part of the bedroom scene of "The Godfather", John Marley played the police lieutenant who investigated the murder of the wife.
A lot of clues to be found, this TV movie is out of sight, literally. Boone played his character out well. It would be hard to be a murderer if you a blind. Everyone was seriously in their work, and it was made well.
Liked what Aaron Spelling did. It's a keeper.

The Big Sleep

This remake

Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall did the 1946 version of "The Big Sleep", and I heard about the mixed reviews of the 1978 version. This version got a lot of classic actors in it. Robert Mitchum, Jimmy Stewart, Richard Boone, Oliver Reed, Joan Collins, and Sarah Miles.
What can go wrong?
The original which I haven't seen yet, is a classic.
In this film, there are some things that the original version didn't have. It dealt with homosexuality, pornographic themes, and nudity in the film.
There was more skin, yes. And one of the daughters arrived in the bed of the detective. And he really changed the sheets!
I looked at the film, and they changed the scenes slightly. Keeping it 1940's is one thing, adding a touch of modernity was also key.
Despite being updated, it was a good film.
This movie would have been really bad it was full of unknowns. When you see stars that you know well, you don't jump into rash judgements and start spewing negative reactions. You can compare the two for yourself and be the judge. I liked it.

Blue Jeans

A lot of foreign films are needed to take advantage of. They are a little more extreme in the sex appeal,but they can have good taste. In "Blue Jeans", Gloria Guida has started a trend that got Catherine Bach and others actresses to follow. The skimpy short shorts.
Guida plays Daniela "Blue Jeans" Anselemi, a young street-walker who was involved in a trick cons her way to be the daughter of a restoration worker. She falls for him, upsetting the girlfriend. Meets Sergio, a drifter. They tried to work up the biggest scheme of all. But he has other plans. So Blue Jeans, uses her wiles and wits to get her way.
There's plenty of sexual energy in the film. Lots of great scenery. At least it's not in Rome.
Great for adults. Not too trashy in my view. Gloria Guida gives it her all in this film. A masterpiece.
