One of the best programs for a beginning Poker player!
26 June 2012
I LOVED this show and when I was starting to play Poker, there was no better method by which to learn the basics of the game. The reason for this is that most of the celebrities play horrifically on Celebrity Poker Showdown and it provides plenty of opportunities for Phil Gordon to explain where they went wrong and why. Viewers also get a great chance to see how a smart poker player can easily dominate play when they have good cards and when they don't. While I enjoy High Stakes Poker and WSOP shows very much too, you simply don't get the chance for beginner lessons like you did with Celebrity Poker Showdown (and, really, it's worth the price of admission to see Scott Stapp of 90's band, Creed, "play." It's AMAZING). I really wish that they would release it on DVD!

The Walking Dead: TS-19 (2010)
Season 1, Episode 6

I HATED this episode!
22 January 2011
Warning: Spoilers
As someone that adores the comics and loved most of the AMC Series, this episode could not have been any more disappointing, poorly conceived and out of place.

First off, again, as a fan of the comics, the sight of seeing Rick become hysterical and pound on a metal door was woefully out of character. Rick is usually a master strategist, but to learn that he had depleted all the group's resources in order to reach the CDC only added to the notion that whomever wrote this sorry episode seemed to have no idea of Rick as a character, of just what makes The Walking Dead a great narrative.

Add then the notion of a CDC Scientist allowing people into his safe house only to complain about how they might contaminate the facility was madness, but absolutely nothing compared to the utter lunacy of deciding that the best thing was to instead kill them all by trapping them inside during detonation of the facility once power runs out. Never did it make sense in the episode why someone seemingly fighting to find a cure would just open the door of his safe house so he can bring others in to die.

At the end of the episode, more illogic enters in when the group hops back into their caravan and drives off despite the fact shared earlier that all resources were depleted. The only thing that could have made this all worse was if the episode had alluded to Aliens having a part in this mess (akin to the joke in issue #75 of the series).

Once this sorry episode was done, I PRAYED that future episodes would stay closer to the actual series as this episode was woefully bad.

The Walking Dead: Wildfire (2010)
Season 1, Episode 5

If you're a fan of the comics, you'll LOVE the first 45 min., BUT STOP THERE!!!!
22 January 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I have been reading The Walking Dead series since the very first comic book and had mostly adored the series to this point (aside from episode two, which was much weaker and broke a lot of rules from the comics - running zombies, smart zombies, climbing zombies, etc.) but the last 10-15 min. of this episode was so jarring in terms of narrative change that at first I thought I was watching another show.

In what felt like a complete rehash of Lost Season 2, we're introduced to a new character and provided his perspective from his place of relative safety. Such a notion could not have felt less like The Walking Dead and I could not help but watch aghast while asking why they would complete abandon the survivors and so clumsily introduce a new character while seemingly tease a reason for the zombie outbreak - something Robert Kirkman vowed would never occur in the series. At the end of this episode, I was completely disappointed and worried about what might occur in the final episode. Sadly, the final episode was astoundingly worse than I had initially feared.

A Powerful Motion Picture That Needs To Be Seen
27 June 2004
It was truly amazing, as someone that lives in Utah, I never expected to hear such thunderous applause fill the theater as the credits ran. This is an incredible motion picture and Moore's best film yet. In fact, regardless where you stand on either Moore or the current administration, you owe it to yourself to watch the film and determine whether or not your or the nations best interests were really being represented in the time since 9/11. After the film showcased the human damage suffered by both American and Iraqi families, I find that I can no longer bear the arrogant ignorance of this administration and will be doing my best to rectify matters within the voting booth this November. Every person of voting age needs to see this film.

Watch only if you're dying and you want time to pass more slowly.
20 October 2003
I love Plan 9 From Outer Space, so naturally, I thought that I should see this too. Bad decision. Plan 9 is fantastic for the terrible lines, the bad acting and the quick pace. The best moments of this misguided monstrosity can easily be seen in other movies (Ed Wood, It Came From Hollywood, etc.), so there is no reason to sit through Glen or Glenda unless your life is coming to an end and you want time to pass much more slowly. In all honesty, I have never seen a longer eighty minute film.

Incredibly thought provoking, funny and harrowing
14 January 2003
This is exactly what you would want from a documentary. The film is an interesting exploration of many troubling issues. I have never before left a film so shaken by so many things we take for granted, like for one item, the nightly news. Be warned though, some of the events in the film are quite disturbing. The footage from Columbine's cafeteria matched with 911 audio and victim stories will haunt you for days. This was truly a film I hoped all Americans would watch for it truly makes you question so many fascets of our country. An extrordinary film that I cannot recommend enough.

Perfect family adventure!
14 January 2003
We took my two daughters to this film and had a delightful time. I was worried about seeing it since I am not a big fan of the television show, but the voice acting was superb and the soundtrack was incredible. After the film, we immediately needed to pick up a copy of the soundtrack if only to get the Paul Simon song. Since this Christmas didn't have too much for families with very young kids, we were extremely happy we saw this film. Our girls (3 and 1.5) adored it and their folks had fun too!
