Shutter Island (2010)
Just a breath of fresh air!
"Shutter Island" is definitely a breath of fresh air in the Thriller world of film. The Thriller genre was going down the drain with "Legion", "Twilight", and "From Paris with Love". "Shutter Island" kept the viewer on the edge of their seat, biting their nails, and wanting more by the time it was over. There were only a couple of "jump" moments in this film but when they came up on the screen they were absolutely affective. "Shutter Island" is what you would call a psychological thriller, those are the kind of films that keep the viewer thinking and paying attention and trust me you have to pay attention in this film. Leonardo Dicaprio was and is a phenomenal actor, he was perfect for this role. The way he showed emotion was remarkable. There wasn't really anything that I didn't enjoy about this film. But it is one of those films that you have to see more than once to understand it. I will tell you that I had a lot of trouble understanding the ending the first time I saw it, but not the second time. Martin Scorsese did an awesome job making this film, definitely one of his best works. I HIGHLY recommend it.
Avatar (2009)
Nothing special
Everyone is saying that Avatar was the most amazing film of the year, but I disagree. This film was not even close to being the best film of the year. It was nothing special. I'm not saying that it was a horrible film because it wasn't. There were some good things about it...well only really one. Which was the CGI. If it had to win an award for that it would most likely win. When it comes to the story it was so predictable and nothing really interesting. I love science fiction movies but this one was not for me. I am a huge fan of good stories and great plots, but again it was not any good when it came to the story. You knew what was going to happen at the very beginning. You knew that Jake was going to fall in love with Neytiri and that he was going to want to stay with the people of Pandora. I don't want to bash the film but I guess I am anyway. I did not like it...just another typical love story/science fiction movie.
Halloween II (2009)
Really Disappointed...
I had really high hopes for this movie because I am a very big fan of the Halloween series and I liked Rob Zombies first remake. This movie was a really big letdown, my friends and I were really excited for this film...I saw it and was just really disgusted with this film. It had way to much violence and so much language that the characters sounded like white trash. I hated all of the characters...they were not likable at all. I think that Rob zombie should not make another Halloween remake. If he does I am not going to waste my money and see it. Don't go and see it, you would be better off seeing shark attack 3. 1 OUT OF 10 STARS!
Smile Pretty (2009)
A little to straightforward...
I was at looking at Scout Taylor Compton's movies and I saw the movie "Smile Pretty" and I thought that I should go and rent it. I rented it and I will say that Scout did a really good job in it. The movie was a little to straightforward in a way where they didn't give any innuendos and it kind of made it just an OUT THERE movie. It is a very inappropriate movie for anyone under 18, a lot of sexual content and language, a little bit of violence and a child in adult situations. It was most likely one of Scout Taylor Compton's best work so far.It could have been a little better though...but over all it was good. I give it 5 out of 10 stars!
