Luther (2010–2019)
9/10
Artful crime solving skills
2 July 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Elba as DCI John Luther is what makes this click. He's awesome as a highly intelligent dynamic loose cannon who is on the verge of being what Dexter Morgan is to the Miami Metro. With a little help from a former suspect; Alice Morgan (hehe) who slipped in and out of an unresolvable murder case, he unwillingly gets out of very sticky situations.

The suspects are not your usual petty crime thieves and crooks but rather intelligent, self absorbed and twisted minds who think that they are going to get away with the awful crimes that they are committing. The stories are told at a fast pace and Luther always has a lot on his plate apart from his broken marriage that he's trying to repair.

Big up to the writers who allowed for this series to be so detailed and dynamic. And also to the cast who together shine and do great performances. I am entertained! Thank you!

Who is the stranger?
27 May 2006
Saw this flick again for the ??? time. But this time I saw something that I hadn't seen earlier. "The stranger" is like a biblical figure that has the ability to see, feel and have indicative dreams about "evil". Rides into "Lago" from nowhere only to find himself in a town whose residents are consumed by dark forces. Without provocation he is dragged into situations where he has no choice but to take care of the problems without hesitation. Even when he encounters the first woman in town whom he takes, she was only seeking contact even though through insults. They reluctantly realize that he has the ability to help and save them from outlaws. And since they were unable to ward of the threats from the outlaws themselves, they painfully needed "The stranger" even though it meant to sacrifice themselves materially to his demands. When asked by "Mordecai" at the end what his name is, "The stranger" only says that he already knows. This film has it all and that's why I gave it a ten.

A Work of Art
4 February 2003
Not only is Al Pacino's contribution to the film as an artist magnificent, as one of his most outstanding role interpretations. The film as a whole is timeless. The whole cast is outstanding and every moment is accounted for. Shows with deliberate proof that directors do have they moments in artistic manifestos. Just as painters have done some of their best works. The American dream is everyone's secret fantasy and Al takes it to the maximus. This is the type of film that keeps Hollywood alive because of it's timelessness. Few films have such an impact and this is mos def - one of the few.
