I had a blast with this movie
16 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I saw this last night at the premiere in Denmark and I loved it. So did my partner. This is a spy movie and a comedy with a healthy dose of feminism and whacky hijinks.

Few spoilers in this text - no big ones.

Audrey just got dumped on her birthday by her boyfriend and Morgan, her best friend, tries to cheer her up by making her burn said ex-boyfriends things. Ex-boyfriend really doesn't want that though, so he calls her up and begs her to stop. The thing is, he's a spy and left something very valuable in her possession and suddenly Audrey and Morgan is on the run thru Europe trying to stay alive.

There's loads of little gems in the script and the 2 women headlining the movie are doing an awesome job being normal girls put in an danger while not going the route of damsels in distress. My favorite scenes were in Amsterdam and Berlin, but I must admit I was thouroughly entertained all the way through.

The plot is different, the female actors are funny, the man-candy is delicious - worth the trip to the cinema.

Interstellar (2014)

An instant masterpiece
17 November 2014
I liked SciFi to begin with so this movie was just icing on an already delicious cake, but I was still blown away. I do not usually buy movies. I stream them from HBO or Netflix and see them in the cinema but for me to buy a movie, it has to be spectacular. Interstellar is such a movie.

It's not just that all the actors did splendidly. Especially the two leads; Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway and the actor we are introduced to in the middle of the movie - I won't spoil that surprise. The chemistry between all on set was amazing - you don't get that as often as I would like. Standing applause to the casting done on the movie! And thanks to the director for not taking the easy way out of anything and for making me feel a pack of emotions during the 3 hours the movie lasts (and no - it wasn't winded at the end).

It's not just the script which works as it should all the way through, the science behind the story which is solid and well explained or the stunning pictures... It's all of it combined. I'm so glad I caught this in the cinemas and I will definitely buy this upon release.

If this doesn't get into SciFi Hall of Fame and receives an Oscar, I'd be very surprised and disappointed.

Started out good - got bad real fast...
6 March 2011
I started with the pilot episode, and I really like the promise of that episode. Then came episode 2 and shortly after all the others where the screen writing seems to have gone from lovingly and witty - to fat jokes and the normal relationship hysteria that surrounds the airing shows. I hate it when you first describe two people as mature and wise - just to transform them into stupid people who can't read the others signals at all. The thing that the couple is fat were adoring at first, now it just feels like an excuse to fire up under the puns and squeeze a few laughs out of the viewers.

I don't find it funny anymore, and I've quit watching.

Outsourced (2006)

A different kind of movie
22 January 2011
So I have been following "Outsourced" the series and found out that it was a remake of this movie. I thought "what the heck" and rented it to watch - thinking it might not be all it was cramped up to be. But actually it was.

The cultural differences, the Indian portraits, the plot and the actors were all superb. I really like that the director choose to portray India and the different people as ordinary people and not the stereotype you usually see in movies about foreign countries. The culture might be different from mine but that doesn't mean it lack charm or warmth.

These Indians are as I expected them to be and it's obvious that the producer have thought about how to respect the Indian culture while still producing a western movie.

I really loved it. And the actor playing Asha really stole my heart.

Nice little Christmas flick
14 December 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Don't think to much - just be entertained Christmas-style.

Normally this concept wouldn't really work - you know how it's gonna end - and all... normally I would get bored fast. Since Queen Latifah was in it I wanted to give it a try (I just love that woman), and it paid of.

First of all: Gabrielle Union (as the mother) and Morris Chestnut (as the deserving nice guy) has a sweet chemistry together: it's not passionate high-lows, but more the lasting love chemistry they portray.

Second: the supporting actors does great in their parts. Faizon Love as Jamal is delivering some solid comic relief and still maintains his character as someone you would like as a best friend. Charles Q. Murphy has a great time being the career-oriented dad with an ego as great as his bank account and the empathy missing in action. The kids are cute too - especially Mallik Hammond's take on the little kid that want's mom and dad back together by all means. The Angel following Latifah was hilarious in his many disguises - a subtle humor but an acting performance that kept my focus on him when he was on screen. As always I loved Queen Latifah - here as a Christmas spirit.

Third: while the story is quite easy to figure out, and there's a few spots along the way where you do the face-palm, it's written well, it's sugar-filled, but not without sense and I ended up feeling all Christmas- y.

Quite a surprise
1 April 2010
I was offered this movie viewing for free and didn't expect that much of it. I mean: sounded a bit too American (didn't quite get its Canadian origin until after the movie started) - for the emotionally challenged - but I've got to hand it to the producers behind this movie: it's actually quite great. The actors work together like hand in glove and the story behind the movie is actually rather well put together. I like the way the "gay" issue was handled: not as a pariah but as an alternative lifestyle... And I loved the kid actor. He is really not the usual hindrance for a good movie, as some kid actors are: he appears realistic, although a bit of a different kid, than I've usually seen. works well with the other actors.

I'm so adding this to my Feel Good Christmas Movie List.
