The Batman (2022)
Who is this film for...?
After Snyder and Nolan, this version of Batman is a dramatic failure. Placing this Batman in the same 'world' as the Flash, Superman, Wonder Woman, and even Shazam, would make him into a joke.
This film may be a reflection of the times. This Batman is motivated by his emotions and lashes out. He doesn't even refer to himself as 'the Batman', but rather as 'the vengeance'. The story may work best as an alternate universe character.
Colin Farrel's Penguin is a definite highlight of this film. The actor virtually disappears into the role.
Sentinelle (2021)
Revenge... a temporary remedy for PTSD.
Kurylenko's intense performance is solid as a French soldier coping w/PTSD. Using it as a driver for revenge.
Story have very little exposition to slow it down.
Fight choreography is concise and adequate for the amount of violent encounters in a 80min runtime.
Witnessing the 'sentinelle' sacrifice nearly everything is reason enough to see this movie.
Annihilation (2018)
beautiful sci-fi horror
A soldier/biologist seeks answers in a natural setting corrupted by an unknown force. Visceral and beautiful. A resolution that will remain in the imagination for daze after the story stops. See it with a pretentious friend.
