The Vanilla Ice Project (2010)
VIP Baby!!!
Plenty of people give Vanilla Ice a bad rap, but I ask possible viewers to at least give it a try because his show is GREAT!
The Vanilla Ice Project is a reality TV series on DIY network that showcases Rob and his crew renovating and remodeling homes in the Palm Beach County area of Florida. The Vanilla Project is currently filming season 7.
Vanilla Ice and his crew take neglected homes and transforms them into something SPECTACULAR. The Vanilla Ice Project is 30 minutes in length, and takes you through different sections in the home week by week. For example, week 1 could focus on the kitchen area of the home and week 2 could focus on the master suite of the home.
Vanilla Ice is blessed with a green thumb and is a great teacher when he focuses on the landscaping of the property. He offers advice on what type of palms are better for your yard, and lets the viewer know what types plants require more maintenance and upkeep. Rob is kid-friendly, and often times utilizes outdoor space catered specifically for the young ones so they can have there own sense of a "retreat".
Rob and his crew create homes that are move-in ready and feature very high-end touches that simply make the viewer say "WOW" once we are shown the finished project.
Since I have watched this show, I have learned many tips on how to create a grand focal point in any room. Along with his team of professional interior designers, he shows the viewers what types of fabrics complement accessories in a home. Rob teaches us how to bring the pow and the wow and really makes things pop!
He has a great eye for detail and the proof is in the work he and his team produce. There is never a dull moment in the show, especially with Rob's right-hand man Wes present. The show is great for any home renovation enthusiasts and anyone looking for ideas in home design.
Sweet Home (2015)
Could have been named Trapped
I'm always on the look-out for a good horror flick and Sweet Home was a delightful treat.
I admit, at the scene in the beginning of the movie where the girl was speaking Spanish with the older gentleman,I stopped watching. I understand Spanish a little, but it seemed like the movie flipped to a foreign language altogether. At that point, I gave up. The next day I decided to continue the movie, simply because the movie is short in length(only 80 minutes). To my surprise, the Spanish dialogue was only a few minutes long and really didn't affect my viewing pleasure nor hinder my ability to follow the story.
I'm glad I decided to give it another try because it was honestly a pretty decent movie. Of course a few cliché moments in the film, but I've certainly seen worse. This film had me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was going to happen next.
The movie moves along pretty quickly and has action throughout. I found myself thinking what would I do in this situation?
Although a fair amount of the reviews are negative, In my opinion, if you like horror/slasher films, check this one out! Honest rating 7/10.
The Ridiculous 6 (2015)
Absurd but hilarious
I just recently watched "The Ridiculous 6" and truly enjoyed it!! "The Ridiculous 6" has an awesome comedic cast, and bonus, Vanilla Ice plays Mark Twain, with a twist! The plot for the movie is basically about an outlaw who discovers that he has 5 half-brothers, and together they go on a mission through the West, circa 1875, to find their wayward father. The brothers are Adam Sandler as "Tommy" aka "White Knife", Terry Crews as "Chico", Jorge Garcia as "Herm", Taylor Lautner as "Lil Pete", Rob Schneider as "Ramon", and Luke Wilson as "Danny". The rugged dead-beat and wayward father is portrayed by the always classy Nick Nolte. I really like the entire cast, but I was especially delighted by Steve Zahn as "Clem", and Rob Schneider as "Ramon". I liked the fact the "The Ridiculous 6" wasn't afraid to throw in off-the-wall scenarios. One scene in the movie that made me laugh until I cried, was the scene involving the brothers and the shoot-out at the Saloon with "Smiley". I admit, I don't love every movie that Adam Sandler has made, but for real fans, you're in for a treat. Sure, this movie isn't winning any academy awards and haters are gonna hate, but sorry haters, Adam Sandler is laughing all the way to the bank with this one!! Netflix knew what they were doing when they signed a 4 picture deal with Mr. Sandler. I think the viewer has to appreciate Adam Sandler movies to understand where this comedy is coming from. "The Ridiculous 6" is around 2 hours long, but I felt the plot moved right along and didn't drag at any particular time. "The Ridiculous 6" is worthy of a PG-13 rating due to some adult humor. In conclusion, I think people who will enjoy this movie will have a sense of humor, and they won't have hang-ups about being politically correct. Relax, have some wine, kick-back and enjoy some genuine laughs!!
Jem and the Holograms (2015)
I really enjoyed this
OK, yes I'm a 30-something year old person, yes I did wake up on Saturday mornings as a child to watch Jem and The Holograms, yes I have also indulged in re-watching those same episodes streaming through Netflix. I was impressed with the movie. I know it's not exactly like the cartoon, but this movie was done very well. Unfortunately I do not have children, but I would have enjoyed watching this with my young daughter. The characters, the plot, and the music all very good. I was especially inspired by the music. I rented Everest and Jem and The Holograms, and had to pay for an extra night with Everest because I wanted to watch Jem and The Holograms again. I thought it was a feel good movie, and since I'm a bit of an old schooler, I will buy this movie on DVD. Definitely enjoyed the movie, and wish others liked it as much as I did.
