a list of 39 titles
This is an incomplete list of BBC television series of the 1930s. It does not include the many one-offs produced by the BBC during the 1930s. I might be wrong, but I think that much of the BBC's output during the 1930s consisted of one-offs. For example, most of the early drama was "one-off" presentations.

Please note that nothing survives of these series today, as methods to record live television were not invented until 1947 (and the BBC very rarely used the technology until around 1953).

Some of these have been listed on here for years. Some only recently had pages made for them, sometimes by me, and sometimes by others.

a list of 183 titles
The following is an incomplete list of Australian-produced television one-offs of the 1950s. These range from variety specials, to music recitals, to local drama and comedy, to adaptations of foreign plays, and other stuff.

The list is incomplete because some one-offs of the period currently do not have pages on IMDb. The list will be expanded as more of these one-offs are listed on IMDb.

Most of what is on the list was broadcast by non-commercial ABC.

Many of the one-offs on this list were kinescoped. "Kinescope recording" was an early method to record live television. However, in many cases it is unknown if the kinescope still exists.

a list of 25 titles
This is a list of "TV movies" (actually live TV plays) which were produced for Australian TV in 1958. All of these aired on ABC. Most of them were based on overseas stage plays.

a list of 32 titles
An incomplete list of television series which debuted in 1946. These include US series (NBC, DuMont, and CBS) and the UK (BBC). Although perhaps a couple other countries had TV in 1946 (perhaps France and Soviet Union?) I don't know what if any series debuted in those two countries in 1946.

If anyone knows of any additional series to add, please let me know.

a list of 85 titles
Television one-offs (such as specials, unsold pilots, TV movies etc) that are in my DVD and/or Blu-ray collection.

Please note that, while I have viewed most of the things on this list, I haven't viewed all of them. (Note: I had removed "What Now, Catherine Curtis" and "Happy Anniversary and Goodbye" because the disc broke. I have since acquired a new copy.)

The list is slightly incomplete because some of the TV one-offs in my DVD collection aren't listed on IMDb. (for example, "ABBA Special" from 1978, "Meet the O'Briens" from the 1950s, etc).

a list of 30 titles
A (incomplete?) list of surviving episodes of the 1950s BBC series "Sunday Night Theatre".

a list of 28 titles
This is a list of feature films I have watched during 2014.

It excludes the TV movies I watched during the year.

Films viewed on DVD/Blu-ray unless otherwise noted.

I tend to watch films during the night. I have very erratic sleeping pattern...I rarely know what time I will get to sleep or what time I will wake up.

This will be updated every time I watch a film.

a list of 56 titles
The following is an incomplete list of Australian television series which debuted in 1959. Even on schedules that were dominated by US and UK series, there were still some room for locally-produced content.

Nevetheless, this list is incomplete. This is because not all Australian of the 1950s have pages on IMDb. This list will be expanded as more Australian series have pages on IMDb.

Note: Australian TV was not networked in the 1950s. There was no "Seven Network" or "Nine Network". Many series aired in a single city only. The Sydney commercial stations were ATN-7 and TCN-9, while the Melbourne stations were HSV-7 and GTV-9. Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth began television operations on 1959, and while they likely had some series of their own, the only ones on IMDb are "Adelaide Tonight" and "Spotlight".

The archival status of many of the series is unknown, but when known, I have noted the status.

a list of 106 titles
Title explains itself, doesn't it? Kind of a useless list, I admit,

As you can probably tell, I have a player which plays all regions...

Note: Being that I was born in 1990 and am autistic, I regret to admit that I still live with my parents. This is why series like "Bewitched" don't appear on the list...they have it, and when I want to watch it, I borrow it from them.

The list is largely in random order.

a list of 67 titles
This is an incomplete list of Australian-produced television series which debuted during 1957. The schedules were very US-dominated in those days, but nevertheless as you can see there were still a fair number of locally-produced shows on the stations of the era.

Though this may seem like a lot of series, please remember that most of these only aired in a single city, and that some of these series were fairly short-lived.

It is an incomplete list, as some Australian TV series of the 1950s do not have pages on IMDb...however, the list is being expanded over time.

This was before video-tape was available in Australia, but there was an earlier method of recording live television known as "kinescope recording", also known as "telerecording". Some of these programs, particularly pre-recorded series like "Leave It to the Girls", are known to still have episodes in existence, but for most series on the list, the archival status is unknown.

Note: Melbourne commercial stations for 1957 are HSV-7 and GTV-9, while Sydney commercial stations are TCN-9 and ATN-7. Many shows of the era aired in a single city only. This was prior to the creation of the "Nine Network" and the "Seven Network".

Note: As you will notice, some of these shows aired in 15-minute time-slots. The actual running time of these series was between 12 to 14 minutes.

a list of 48 titles
This is an incomplete list of Australian-produced television series which debuted during 1958. The reason the list is incomplete is because quite a few 1950s series are not listed on IMDb. Even on schedules that were dominated by U.S series, there were still room for some Australian-made content.

Nevertheless, it's worth noting that it's likely that less Australian series debuted in 1958 compared to 1957, partly because the many series of 1956/1957 continued through 1958 and even sometimes into 1959. Also, the broadcasters were becoming more reliant on US imports.

Again, I'd like to note that this is an incomplete list, which will be expanded later on.

Note: Melbourne commercial stations were GTV-9 and HSV-7, while Sydney commercial stations were TCN-9 and ATN-7. Many Australian shows in those days were shown in a single city only.

The archival status of these series does vary, and in most cases the archival status is unknown.

a list of 19 titles
This is an incomplete list of surviving episodes of television content from the year of 1948...there is also some additional surviving episodes from that year.

At the time, the only way to record live television was to directly film the TV monitor screen itself, using equipment designed for that purpose so there wouldn't be flicker...these are known as "kinescope recordings". This was how live TV was recorded before the invention of video tape in the mid-1950s.

Only complete intact episodes are listed.

As you may have noticed, none of these series survive as complete runs except perhaps for the Toscanini specials. The oldest series for which most of the episodes aired were kept come from 1949, and include "Admiral Broadway Revue" (NBC), "Let There be Stars" (ABC) and the second version of "The Morey Amsterdam Show" (DuMont).

I know I am being captain obvious, but some of these series also have surviving episodes from later years (many of the 1949 episodes of "The Morey Amsterdam Show" survive, for example)

Note: DuMont, one of the first commercial television networks, operated from 1946 to 1956. It several popular series including "Captain Video" (1949-1955), "Cavalcade of Stars" (1949-1952), "Down You Go", "Rocky King, Detective" (1950-1954), "The Plainclothesman" (1949-1954), "The Magic Cottage" (1949-1952), and "Life is Worth Living" (1952-1955, moved to ABC as DuMont shut down and continued to 1957).

a list of 25 titles
Actually, for the most part they are live television plays rather than "TV movies".

Not sure how many of them still exist as kinescope recordings or early video-tape.

Many were performances of overseas stage plays, a few were versions of works originally written for overseas anthology series, but a few were locally written. The list is probably slightly incomplete.

The following is a list of Australian television series which debuted during 1956. Although the early Australian TV schedules were dominated by US programs, there were still a fair few Australian-produced series during 1956.

Please note that the list is missing several series, including "Australia Unlimited" and "Women's World".

At the time, Australian-produced series aired in a single city only. "TCN-9", "ATN-7" and "ABN-2" series aired in Sydney, while "HSV-7" series aired on Melbourne.

Although several of these stations had access to "Kinescope recording" (a method used to record live television in the days before video-tape), I don't know if anything exists of any of these series. I do know that 1958-era episodes do exist of "Hit Parade", though.

This is a list of daytime/afternoon TV series aimed at the housewives, which aired in Melbourne Australia during the late-1950s. Note that this list is incomplete, in particular it is missing an important ABC series of the era called "Women's World"/"Woman's World" and a couple other series.

The list excludes overseas-produced series.

TV episodes I watched from 11 May to 17 May 2014.

All viewed on DVD.

A list of feature films shown on TV in Melbourne Australia during May 1957. Excludes short films.

Note: GTV-9 is a commercial station, ABV-2 is a non-commercial station. I might be wrong, but it appears HSV-7 didn't show any feature films during May 1957.

a list of 17 titles
Yes. Films shown on television in Melbourne Australia during April 1957. I may have made some mistakes or omissions. I only included feature films on the list, I excluded shorts.

Note: GTV-9 is a commercial station, ABV-2 is a non-commercial station. I might be wrong, but it appears commercial station HSV-7 didn't show any feature films during the month.

a list of 11 titles
It is a myth that most 1950s Australian TV shows were game shows. If anything, variety/music shows and "women's programmes" (such as cooking and decorating) were more common among local content. Nevertheless, quite a few game shows were produced in Australia in the 1950s. Importing US game shows was impractical, though they did import "People are Funny".

This is a list of 1950s Australian game shows based on US formats. The archival status of most of these series is not known, however I have added some info when possible.

This is a list of television episodes I watched from 13 April to 19 April 2014.

Not listed:

a list of 31 titles
TV episodes I watched from 31 March to 6 April 2014.

Not listed:
"The Big Payoff" - Unknown episode from 1962.
"Make Me Laugh" (US version) - Unknown episode.
"Take a Good Look" - Unknown episode from 1959.
"The Monkees" - Unbroadcast version of the pilot.

Of the things I watched, I enjoyed most of them, but there were three things I did not enjoy in the slightest.

This list is possibly incomplete.

While there is missing/lost episodes for every TV broadcaster of the 1950s (regardless of country), the survival rate of DuMont Television Network series is much worse than that of NBC, CBS and ABC. Many DuMont programs are largely lost. The following is a list of series for which nothing is known to survive. Please check your attic.

A few series are missing from the list as they are not listed on IMDb.

If any episodes exist of these series in an archive or private collection, please let me know.

I read that these series survive intact. Hopefully there are others.

a list of 13 titles
An incomplete list of Australian drama TV series, up to and including the debut of "Homicide", after which Australian-produced TV drama became more common. The list is incomplete (it's missing the anthology series "Shell Presents" which isn't listed on IMDb, and there may have been others I've over-looked), if anyone has any additions they'd like me to add, please let me know.

I've excluded one-off drama specials.

a list of 36 titles
The following is a very incomplete list of "local" series which aired on New York City television station WABD.

WABD is known as being the flagship station of the DuMont Television Network, though this list also includes a few shows from before and after the run of the DuMont Network itself.

Little remains of these series today.

If anyone knows of any additional series to add to this list, please let me know by sending me a PM (private message) or by making a comment on the page for this list.

This list is incomplete, due to many local WABD series not having pages on IMDb. For example, other local series on WABD included "Morning Chapel", "Between the Lines", "Letter to Lee Graham", "Swing into Sports", "Stars are Born" and various others.

Based on their plot descriptions, which of these early African-American television series would you most like to see? (note: some of these series are lost).

Hooray for pointless lists! This is an incomplete list of 1940s/1950s US TV shows whose title follow the following structure: "The (given-name) (surname) Show". Some of these series also went under other titles: for example, "The Milton Berle Show" was originally "Texaco Star Theater". It also includes a few "local" series like "The Dude Martin Show".

There are also some not listed on IMDb, such as "The Roy Doty Show", "The Jane Pickens Show", "The Martha Wright Show","The Sonny Kendis Show". Please note this.

If you know any additional shows to add, please let me know!

A list of TV episodes I watched during the week from 26 January to 2 February 2014. This list is purely an experiment, I don't know if I'll do additional lists with this idea.

I also watched the following TV episodes not listed on IMDb as of the time of making this list:
"Computer Chronicles" - Decision Support Systems
"Computer Chronicles" - Programming
"The Perry Como Show" - Episode telecast 28 February 1955
"The Perry Como Show" - Episode telecast 4 March 1955
"Computer Chronicles" - Computer Graphics

In addition, I could not figure out how to link to the first and second episode of "Here's Edie" (episodes telecast 23 October 1962, and 13 December 1962, respectively).

Hello Everybody! I read the following ITV one-offs of the 1960s still exist. I read this on "lostshows.com". I hope they are correct. Indeed, some of these are on DVD!

If there's any mistakes on this list, please let me know!

The DuMont Television Network was one of the first commercial television networks. It broadcasted from 1946 to 1956, and aired a wide variety of shows of many genres. At the time, the idea of preserving television shows for later-use was not taken seriously by many people. Also, what the network did keep was disposed of in the late-1970s.

The following is a list of DuMont network shows that have footage surviving at the Paley Center for Media. Some of these may be duplicates of stuff held by the UCLA Film and Television Archive, but much of it is not.

Furthur DuMont Network kinescope recordings survive at other archives, such as the previously mentioned UCLA Film and Television Archive, Library of Congress, and in private collections (such as an episode of "On Your Way").

Stuff at Paley not listed below: "Adlai Stevenson Speech from Salt Lake City" - 1952 recording of a television broadcast by the US presidential candidate.
Possibly 1 episode each of "Stop the Play" and "Swing Into Sports" - Was these local series from DuMont flagship station WABD?

DuMont Television Network, one of the first commercial television networks, broadcasted from 1946 to 1956. The network existed in a time when preserving television programming was not taken seriously, also, it is well known that the archive of the network was disposed of some time in the 1970s. Nevertheless, a surprising amount of DuMont content has survived.

The following is a list of DuMont Television Network programs for which episodes are preserved by the UCLA Film and Television Archive. It is probably incomplete, for example, 2 episodes of "Chance for a Lifetime" that aired on the network may exist at the archive, but this is unconfirmed. UCLA has 30 episodes of "Boxing From Eastern Parkway" and three episodes of "Boxing With Dennis James", neither of which are listed on IMDb.

Please note that more episodes of DuMont series surviving at the Museum of Broadcast Communications, The Paley Center for Media, the Library of Congress, elsewhere, and in private collections.
