Das Signal (2024)
Don't expect an alien action series
The series were deep and mostly focused on us, humans. I loved it. It surprised me in so many ways. It got my attention from the first to the very last second. The ending got me unprepared, too. Unpredictable endings are something I miss in the movies nowadays and this one was a nice getaway from the typical forseen stories. If you want something different and character oriented, I strongly recommend this one. If you are expecting the next "alien against humanity" type of series with battles and guns, don't start. As a movie is closer to "Arrival", but amazingly different in so many ways. Just give it a chance.
Leave the World Behind (2023)
Read between the lines
Dispite my expectations it was a pretty good one. It holds you on the edge waiting for something that is never happening. Very few movies can do that in a satisfying way like that one. The ending surprised me and, I admit, it is a rare thing to happen to me when it comes to movies. I have to rewatch after certain time. I am sure there will be more to discover the second time. Overall I like the tension and the unexpected turs. If you expect action, don't bother watching. It is not that type. It needs attention to detail while watching and reading between the lines. You cannot watch it without you fully diving into it.
How It Ends (2018)
Bad
If you wanna watch two guys riding in a car, constantly looking for gas and shooting from time to time, this is the movie for you. No idea, no plot. I lost two hours trying to figure it out and, I admit, I'm not smart enough, because I could't.
Mortal Kombat (2021)
Not my Mortal Combat.
Didn't like it. If you have never seen the first two movies, there is a slight possibility you might like it. The acting is not bad. The plot is missing the main idea of Mortal Combat according to me. It is so messed up. Sorry.
Blade Runner 2049 (2017)
I got lost
It was like when you're reaching for something in the dark. You know it is there, you reach for it but could not touch it. And you get lost. It was too misty. Like the idea in the director's head wasn't clear enough. The acting was amazing. But it couldn't compensate the missing point. I'm sure some people would love it but it's definitely not my kind of movie.
Watchmen (2009)
Didn't get it
One of the worst titles I have ever seen! The story was lost in all the blood in it. I didn't get it (may be it is my fault). I like films about super heroes, but not this one. The end was unexpected (I admit that), there are some good sentences that people can learn, but... I didn't like the director's point of view. There was too much darkness. Like forgetting for the script and redeem it with battles and killing. Too much pessimism in a story about heroes. This is my point of view. It was different from other super heroes pictures. Different in a way I didn't like. It was like watching a storm on the sky, you see sometimes rays of light, but after all it still remains an awful storm, leaving you in bad mood. Sorry!
