A meek movie.

An artificial movie that cannot be digested. Evoked no emotion at all. Acting is over the top and doesn't fit with the story line.

A Light and Enjoyable Movie.
18 July 2018
Movie has a decent plot and acting is good. It combines little stories of all the characters and that makes this movie holistic. Humor is kept plain and simple and doesn't go overboard like most of the comedy genre movies.

Overall, a very light and fun movie to watch.

Another great Irfan Khan movie
18 July 2018
This movie is a fine piece of art. Story is a perfect blend of humor, sadness, and realities of modern life. Acting of Irfan Khan, as usual, is superb. Divya Dutta, even though plays a side role, still manages to impress by her acting. Other major actors like Kirti, Anuja, Gajraj, Pradhuman and Arunaday have also given brilliant performance.

The movie is not rushed and proper pauses builds up the interest and shows creativity of the Director. Ending is quite fulfilling as well.

Brilliant movie.
17 July 2018
In many reviews people are talking about the book. But this review is from point of view of a person who hasn't read that book. This movie immediately grips the attention at the very beginning and has every element that makes a movie memorable.

This movie is relatable to Black Mirror's concept, Wreck it Ralph concept and Zootopia concept at the same time. Animation is gorgeous, story is wholesome. Twist and turns are not unexpected but beautiful to watch nonetheless. The mild romance is quite childish but rest of the movie more than makes up for it. This movie satiates this viewer to the fullest.

Action movie without any story.
17 July 2018
Movie has no plot. I repeat Movie has no plot. Story is a pure stereotype and unimaginative. Some scenes have no relevance to the story and are mere patchworks to give viewer a sense of non-emptiness.

That being said Animation and Action scenes are quite enchanting. And that alone makes this movie a must watch.

Artificial movie.
17 July 2018
Nothing special in this movie. Plot has holes and is average. There is no excitement, no emotions invoked in viewer's mind.

Also, all characters except Jenifer Lawrence have rather very low intelligence levels which makes this movie look like a very artificial leaves this viewer in frustration. Overall, Looks like a movie made solely for Jennifer Lawrence to "overcome" her iCloud leak trauma.

Watch it, Enjoy it, Forget about it.
5 June 2018
Heist movie are either supposed to be very funny which do not care about realities of life and every flaw is supposed to be a joke or they are supposed to have a mind boggling ending. So either the funny type or the serious type. This movie was neither. Story had a lot of loopholes and just didn't seem plausible even by liberal interpretations. Problem is it was intended to be the second type of movie i.e. the serious type. Gerard Butler portrayed Big Nick whose personal life story had no relation whatsoever to the main story, and thus, story was all over the place.

Aside from that, if we don't analyze the story; action scenes, acting and cinematography was not bad. So, if you are just looking for a mildly intriguing movie after a tiring day after work, I suppose this movie might work for you.

Unexpectedly a good movie.
27 July 2017
This is one of those lesser popular movies after watching them you feel satisfied that it was worth your time, not only because they were good but also because very few people had the luxury to enjoy that movie.

The story is able to get emotions out of you. Movie has great feel of prison life and crime inter-linkages.

Cliché elevated from Gutter to BlockBuster by Fanboys.
5 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Test whether this movie was a cliché or not? 1. Pathetic romance where hero woos a beautiful actress by stalking and harassing her. And after one song they are in love. 2. A sad mother waiting for his son to take revenge. "Mere karan Arjun aayenge". 3. Hero has enormous superhuman like strength and intelligence without any battle training and can beat 20 people with weapons bare handed. 4. Physics is just ignored. 5. Plot copied from movies 300 (Trishul battle defence), Troy, Matrix trilogy (the chosen one concept, multiple fight scenes), Lord of the Rings etc.

People said this was best VFX ever. Best VFX is the one where after watching the scene you say - I wonder where they shot this movie-this place is so beautiful. Which means although movie looks aesthetically pleasing but VFX is "undetectable". The moment you are able to VFX is being used, it becomes pathetic VFX.

This movie highlights starvation and craving of us Indians for watching a half a decent movie, so much so, that a clichéd with non-existent plot is said to be the best Indian movie ever and is reinforced by the fact that everyone else likes it - Typical Herd Mentality. This movie is Andho mein Kaana Raja. (One eyed man is King among blind people). It is almost like religion, people have desire to give their life a bigger meaning even there isn't one, and they hold on to this meaning so dearly that all logic seems to become their enemy.

Talvar (2015)

A story may have many versions, but this story has only one.
16 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is based on true story of what happened in Aarushi Talvar's murder case. It is a beautifully orchestrated movie which shows the deep realities of functioning of police administration in India.

Other than the story part of this movie, which is at focus here, Direction is great. Vishal and Gulzar have done a tremendous job to get the best out of all the actors in this movie. Acting is simple and superb. Irfan Khan has time and again showed us how powerful an simple act can be.

Now to the story part, All that is needed to know what actually happened in this case is common man's logic and official statements from court, police etc.

You know Who is a caged parrot? CBI That's who. And these are not my words, these are words of Supreme Court of India. The law regulating CBI is structurally flawed and it is deliberately so. We need separation of CBI from Parliament and politicians like in U.S., if we want any positive change.

India needs more movies like these.

Lesson of the movie : Delusions can kill people.
22 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
2 Christian Missionaries go to Japan and try to find father Ferreira (Liam Nessen) who was their teacher. They meet Japanese Christian people and re-energize their delusions about existence of fictional character called God which only increase sufferings of these already poor people. And their delusions survive in their heart (it's the brain, heart cannot think) even though they denounce Christianity in public. End of story.

Japanese inquisitor portrays a very wise man, true patriot and cruel strategist. I simply love this man which is why I am not rating this movie 1. He thinks that religion is a method of acquiring territory for Europeans (which it was). He also wants to preserve the native culture while being open to reform it, which every person should. Yes, his methods of torture are the definition of cruel and evil, but so is CIA's torture of its own citizens in the modern era(and people aren't complaining enough about that).

This movie tries to show "power" of "faith". But what it shows is "sufferings" due to "delusions". Movie makers are using the gullible religious people to fill their pockets.

Magnificent waste of huge potential.
17 February 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This movie had a new idea which no other movie had, this idea was the new fictional way of how time travel could work. But the way they wasted it is just magnificent.

They should have simplified the story for people to understand or at least they could have extended the runtime of this movie and introduced more actors to explain better who is Rachel, their boss, the gunman etc. And they could have compressed the part where they invent time machine, it is utterly boring and redundant to story.

However, explaining movie lesser does give the audience to use their imagination to fill the gaps themselves. But that is not why audience go to a movie theater. A person can read a book if he wishes to enjoy "using his own imagination".

The effects, sound quality and acting in this movie are below average.

In the end, plot of the movie has huge loopholes in plot. They use word "paradox" many times to hide clear inconsistency in storyline. They try to imply that paradox works in other ways than thought before.

Firstly, they go back in times so many times that they should be much older than they are shown. But then again they never make it clear how many times machine is used and for how much duration.

Secondly, according to A->B and B->A they can also travel forward in time, which is never used, as they always "wait" in hotel rooms in isolation for that simultaneous time (when 2 Abe and 2 Aaron exist) to pass out time to maintain symmetry and to avoid altering timelines drastically.

Thirdly, why would Aaron need Abe's help to save Rachel (by the way about whom we have no clue who she is) when he can save her himself.

In any case, in such a low budget it still is a marvel to watch.

Almost Famous (2000)

Gripping! Enchanting! Brilliant!
19 July 2016
Warning: Spoilers
You have to watch this piece of class. They just don't make them anymore.

But what makes this movie so great? Acting, Storyline, Direction, and most importantly how emotions & continuous search for identity in the people leads them in their journey of life.

Russel says- " But… it's not what you put in, is it?

It's what you leave out. Listen to… listen to Marvin Gaye…

A song like "What's Going On." That single "woo" at the end of the second verse – you know that woo – that single "woo."

That's what you remember. The silly things, the little things… there's only one, and it makes the song.

It's what you leave out. That's rock and roll."

And this movie is full of these silly little things.

A simple and honest high school boy(William Miller) gets an assignment to review a band. He meets Miss Penny Lane, who is a "band-aid" (euphemism for groupie).

Miss Penny Lane's constant desire to do something exciting is what leads her life, and Stillwater's music is what excites her the most. She looks like a free bird who can go anywhere, do anything. But as it turns out this very freedom restricts her from seeing the reality of life, right in front of her.

On the other hand, William is just the opposite of Penny, bound by her mother's control.

And when these two opposites meet, They make them see the entirety of life and its balanced beautiful nature.

Depressing First half destroys the whole movie.
19 July 2016
Warning: Spoilers
It was a total bullshit movie. There was nothing new in the story. No great punchline. Plot was completely directionless. They tried to create a sense of grandiose by merely adding more and more characters.

Story was so bad that Story writer, somehow, managed to create a total detachment from the characters. Other than stupid dreams of Batman (which were pretty dumb) there was nothing to develop a character. In the end, Characters just felt too artificial.

When Climax approached, I felt Emotionless towards all the superheroes. Only character I could empathize with was Ancient Cryptonian who was angry at everyone in the movie and wanted to destroy them.

In a nutshell, this movie was an absolute waste of the resources. This movies had everything but a story.

Cut Copy Paste of previous versions. It is like Over-hyped Twilight movie..
31 March 2016
Warning: Spoilers
There is nothing new in this movie in comparison to previous six parts. Exactly same story line. Only difference is that new Jedi is a female character who looks like Jennifer Connelly. And other than Harrison Ford, acting is pretty dull. There is not a single good punchline in the whole movie. Sci-fi movies have a huge scope of good punchlines but they failed to capitalize. But who needs to capitalize when you have huge capital which can be rather used in the advertisements. Right?

Basically you'd be surprised about the wonders internet search engines, social media, and critics rating can do. They can make you feel that twilight or Mad max or Justin Beiber is awesome. If you have internet search engines, critics and social media on your side, you can make people believe anything.

A bad dream that keeps on going on and on.
11 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Movie starts in a post apocalyptic world (perhaps after nuke war). And then Tom Hardy is a Survivalist. Potable water is scarce which can be extracted from only deep underground via pumps using Gasoline and elites are using religion to control people. Corruption and Filth in the barren desert. Shortage of food, fuel, etc. So that's the beginning and your hopes will be raised about the movie.

But then it begins.. The illogical mad car chase in barren desert and then there is virtually nothing in that story afterwards. Also, Guitar will pour out fire using Gasoline to motivate army. Or maybe it is just a pretentious way of saying our movie is cool and artistic because Guitar is spitting f**king fire.

Seriously, you will regret every second of it.

And then you compare ratings of MetaCritic and IMDb and you will realize Critics can be bought and Crowd will rate a movie highly if properly advertised.
