Ghostland (2018)
WOW
I am a horror buff , some would say horror snob.
I am not going to tell you what this movie is about because you don't want me too. I am being honest when I say I actually walked a way twice after about 25 minutes each time. I thought it was just another lazy horror that didn't make sense. I can not, not watch only half a horror movie no matter how bad I think it is, so I sat for the third time and finished the last half. If I had not finished it, it would have been a huge mistake and me call myself a horror buff (snob).
This movie is well written, well thought out and well acted, directed, etc. It is fresh and if you are into horror a must see. It won't scare you to death, but the creepy factory will stay with you. Top five horror for this decade and if you are a buff or just a movie watcher, I promise you a ride worth taking. I gave it a 9 because I had the gall to think the movie was lazy when I started it and it turned me into a liar.
The Conjuring (2013)
Boy would this been a huge movie in the 70s
I am a huge horror movie fan. And this one will not disappoint.
This movies takes place in the 70s where most believed in Demons and possession. Hence the Exorcist. If you like this style of movie, do watch it. If you are not Catholic or a Protestant that believes that Demons can do anything. Then this may scare you as much as the Exorcist did.
The worst thing they did with this movie is call it "based on a true story". Because true horror fans know that if this really happened, everyone and their dog would be at this house today trying to experience if it was real. Which of course it is not, every TV show would be at the house filming it.
If you like horror, this is a real must see. If you expect that this really happened, than it will not live up to it.
Great story good acting, mistake on saying this was real. Takes away from it.

The Tingler (1959)
We all deserve this movie
This is a William Castle movie and if you don't know who he is then please look him up as possibly one of the best director, producer, screenwriters the horror industry has ever had. Hitchcock has real competition here.
This is a very well written and directed and more believable movie than most of our current talent in his category. Castle was known for his "gimmicks" as seen before this movies even starts. So he has lost some respect of movies goers. But not the real fans of horror.
On this film he uses one of his "gimmicks" at the start of the movie, but backs it up will a real horror film. I am a huge fan of horror movies in all the decades. If you want to see a movie that does not rely on a woman running and falling down because she tripped on a pebble, or the bad guy getting a small stab wound and "OK we can forget about him" so he gets up later. If you want to see a movies and bear in mind it is from 1959, that does not try to insult you just by watching it with predictable endings and lazy writing that makes no sense. Than watch this movie and then you will want to see the rest of Castle's movies.
Having said that I am a fan of stupid horror moves, but people like Castle and Hitchcock, we should all watch and know want real horror movies, be as it is in decades past should be looked up to and respected.
This movies is worth watching, it is not "Michael Mires" scary as in the first "Halloween". But it does deserve respect and I would like to see more of the true effort put into this movie to make it "scary" in its day, in new films.
But just my opinion, Oy
Seance: The Summoning (2011)
Yes another one.
Well I don't know if this will be a spoiler or not. But here goes.
This is very much a formula movie. And it is probably not the formula you are thinking off. This is the typical, a main character is either a non believer or in this case Pagan and their magic is not strong enough, but we have a true believer that conveniences her the true path is through Christ. It is a formula conversion to Christ movie. And like all the others like it, it comes off flat and lacks all the true horror feel. This is not a movie to scare you, it is a movie to convert you.
I will give them one kudo, they read a small part of a Pagan book to sound convincing but they really have no idea what Paganism is.
If you are Christian and like this kind of movie you will like it. If you are a horror movie fan and like even a glimpse of scary, well don't wait up for one. The female roles were really weak and Bobby Campo as the possessed had the only role that had any meat on it and he did what he could. But it is not the actors fault with this kind of movie they really don't have much to work with.
The Untold History of the United States (2012)
Should be a much watch by both sides
I am a huge history buff and know that history "Is written by the winner". This does contain a large amount of the untold stories of U.S. history that many of us did not learn in school. And just like the "told" stories of U.S. History it runs into it's own bias. I don't think that anyone would call Oliver Stone as unbiased in the stories he tells. As a true believer that you look at as many sides of history as possible and then the truth will lie someone inside of all.
As you can probably tell I am not a big fan of this series as our "true" history of the U.S.. I do consider it a "must watch" because it does bring different points of view to a large audience. I hope this will do what it does for me and that is to get everyone to "think". I don't see this series converting people into everything Oliver Stone will have you think this was really how it was. But I think it will get most people to think "well I did not know that also happened" and incorporate it into things that they also have learned. Again no matter what side you fall on it will make you think, so is worth watching.
Bikini Spring Break (2012)
What did you expect
This movie's plot line makes no sense, the acting is terrible all the girls are stupid but one. Has lots of breast action and little else. Although I will say they did not take the nudity too far and relied on the terrible acting to carry a good chunk of the movie. Thankfully Robert Carradine shows up and steals every scene he is in. This would be a higher ranking movie if they had the money to pay him for more scenes.
So how do I review this movie? Well it is what it is and for that it is a load of fun (no pun intended). These movies have been made before and will be again. This is a better than average version. If you like this kind of movie it is worth the watch. Judging it for what it is I give it a 5. If you just want to veg and watch a movie with just enough nudity to keep your attention without really having to think, well there you go.
Wound (2010)
Welcome to I don't know what
OK, if you read the other reviews you find out this is a bad movie. And I am going to help you out here.
This movie is about an insane woman that went through a disturbing childhood (Incest and S & M). So grown up she is much the same way. OK, why should you not watch this movie? It is very convoluted which is alright if they tie it together in the end. They do not. David Blyth who wrote and directed was clearing trying to tell a story. The problem is he never lets you know what story he is telling. There is a lot of artsy camera work, dream scenes, the whole "boy isn't this movie Vanguard" kind of thing, but you will keep asking yourself "why" and that questions is never answered.
Save yourself some time, this movie does not tell a story which is what movies are supposed to do, even bad ones. In the end it is just a bunch of scenes put together and that is it. The story David Blyth had in mind with this movie regretfully stayed in his mind and did not make it on the screen.
The Eye Creatures (1967)
A bad remake of a better movie
This is a remake of "Invasion Of The Saucer Men" (1957) While the original attempted to be serious, this version goes for a more comical attempt. It fails at this, instead of funny it can get boring at times by actors that over act being stupid and the writing gives them nothing in the way of comical. The special effect are very low budget and it appears to have been just kicked out without getting the "shots" that are done right. I think the director yelled "Print" way to fast on this one.
If you choose between the two movies go with the 1957 original, it has all the camp and magic that you get from old 50s Si Fi.
This version can be difficult to watch if you have seen the original first. If not, then it can be enjoyable if you don't expect too much.
Sweatshop (2009)
What a waste of great villains
OK, I will sum up the movie. The main charters are flat, no personality except there is no reason to care so when they die, well you don't have to worry about another scene with them. At one point I asked myself, hadn't this guy already been killed? No he hadn't the main charters just weren't worth paying attention too. I LOVE "B" horror, but this is the first movie I have seen that you "just don't care" when someone dies. You don't even not like them and wish they would die.
If you are a "B" horror fan such as myself, why sit through it at all? Well let me tell you, the villains are VERY VERY good. You have no idea where they came from, why they are doing what they do and they still pull it off. There a huge fat guy wearing a welders mask welding a huge pipe with a blacksmith anvil at the end. Along with a group of female minions that are a cross between the girl from "The Ring" and a Harpy.
This bad guy and bad girls need to be reused in a well written movie. Like I said what a waste of great villains.
