Caffeine Free Diet Star Wars
7 July 2010
Let's face it. Star Wars has officially became a children's film. We true Star Wars fans have to suffer because there are a few eight-year-old brats in the audience. Where do I start. Jar Jar Binks, just a scam to get kids under the age of five to watch the movie. He doesn't add really anything to the movie accept stupidity. And Anikan, Lucas had to go and make the future Dark Lord of the Sith a soccer playing brat. And Suebulba, All they had to do is put a white t-shirt and leather jacket on him, slick his hair back, and put a pack of smokes in his shirt sleeve. That would have made it fine. Obi-Wan being the wise old hermit that he is should have more lines than "yes master". The other wise old hermit that we new as Yoda is now a bumbling know-it-all. At least Samuel L. Jackson gave a great portrayal of Mace Windu. Darth Maul should have been seen more than a ten minute lightsaber battle (which was amazing). Qui-Gon is a very wise Jedi but takes up too much of Obi-Wan's screen time. Viceroy Gunray and his partner are (very) bad Chinese imitations. Too many bad guys for one movie. I think the total number of them is five. That's just too many. And how obvious is Lucas making it that Senetor Papatine is going to be the Emporor.

This movie is okay but Lucas has gone mad with the CGI. I can understand that he loves being able to use it but almost every other character is computer generated. Back in the Original Trilogy Lucas used real people in very convincing costumes, puppets, stop-motion animation, and models that were all hand built. IF was good then than why couldn't it be good now.

THis movie is good but lacks the greatness of the Original Trilogy.

I Have a Bad Feeling About This
4 July 2010
This movie does not get the credit that the first two movies get. It kinda lives in the shadow of the first two. I guess so many people expected so much out of this movie. Technology definitely had come some length from the first movie. The movie still heavily relied on human acting and emotinons, yet still maintained comical seriousness. But there is something about this film that just doesn't live up to the first two.

I know a lot of people dislike the Ewoks. I do agree that they take away from the seriousness of the situation. Lucas did not direct this one either. The acting and storyline is still phenomenal and great.

All the cast does a great job at portraying the characters. Yoda and Obi-Wan still offer guidance throughout. And Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford are at there best.

It definitely is a great Star Wars movie and great way to end the trilogy. But it burns me up so much to see that Lucas has went back and "added" CGI effects to the original trilogy. It ruined the prequels. I guess Lucas was just not satisfied with them. The original three could not get much better. And it makes me so mad to see Hayden Christianson at the end of this film replacing Sebastion Shaw as the ghost of Anikan Skywalker. I hated seeing him in the prequels. Lucas just wants more money I guess.

Do or Do Not. There is No Try
4 July 2010
Warning: Spoilers
This movie took the the first movie and amplified it by ten times. The budget was bigger. The actors where better. The Special Effects were better. And the fan base was established. George Lucas did not direct this one. Maybe that's what made it good. Some one else had delivered his message.

The addition of Yoda is phenomenal. Frank Oz delivers his finest as the puppeteer and voice of Yoda. The seriousness and humor is well balanced in him. The way he speaks and the way he does things makes him appear so much more wiser than Obi-Wan. Then Sir Alec Guiness delivers again as Obi-Wan Kenobi. The rest of the cast is also great, especially Billy Dee Williams as Lando Callrisian.

This movie is possibly the best of the saga. It definitely is a competitor.

May The Force Be With You. Always
2 July 2010
Warning: Spoilers
There really is no way to describe this movie. It changed everything in film after it. It is one of the top grossing films in history. But what made the movie so great? It was the fantasy. It gave people hope when there was little hope left. It recaptured people's imagination. When it came out in May 1977 America was in bad shape. The Vietnam War had just ended which took 58,000 young mens' lives. President Nixion had let the country down. And the hippie movement had swept the country. Then a low-budget movie called Star Wars comes and takes America to a galaxy far, far away.

The story is powerful. It tells the story of young farm-boy Luke Skywalker's journey to heroism, but along the runs into quirky characters and mishaps. It truly tells the hero's journey from pion to victorian.

The characters all have there place. Mark Hamill truly delivers the role of Luke Skywalker. Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford played their characters of Princess Leigh and Han Solo very well. Princess Leigh broke that princess stereotype that many people knew and Han Solo is the rough-and-tumble space cowboy that you love to hate. And Peter Mayhew defiantly captures the feat of playing Han Solo's wookiee co-pilot Chewbaca. And the best of all is Sir Alec Guiness's portrayal of Jedi Master Obi Wan Kenobi. His elegance and sophistication. And who could forget James Earl Johnes and David Prowse as Darth Vader. And C-3PO and R2-D2 and comical relief to the situation.

And John Williams couldn't have done a better score. It adds excitement and enchantment to the story.

And the Special Effects is there to compliment the story. It was truly futuristic and amazing for its time.

Finally the story reminds us that there is Good and Evil and Evil has to be defeated. And Good shall conquer!

All in the Family (1971–1979)

Those Were The Days
30 June 2010
Warning: Spoilers
This television show changed everything on TV after it. It broke so many grounds. It was one of the first sitcoms to deal with prejudice, politics, war, and was the first television show to feature the sound of a flushing toilet. The main character, Archie Bunker, is an old-fashioned bigot who represents the working man in America. His wife, Edith Bunker, represents the old-fashioned house wife in the 1950's. Archie an Edith's daughter Gloria and her husband Micheal live with the Bunkers in a suburb of New York City. The Show took on so many controversial topics of the time such as the Vietnam War and Watergate. It could always find humor in everyday suburban life. It was mostly dealing with the old-fashioned way of life (Archie), being confronted by the easy-going hippie lifestyle (Micheal) during the 1970's. All the humor is in Archie and Micheal's feuds and bickering due to the twos different beliefs. This sitcom is one of the best.

M*A*S*H (1972–1983)
10/10
The Best Medical Sitcom Ever
30 June 2010
Warning: Spoilers
The show brought a whole new genre to television, the medical sitcom/drama. M*A*S*H* has a wide array of characters that are all humorous alike. The two main characters, Hawkeye and Trapper John are surgeons in the United States Army's 4077 M*A*S*H* during the Korean War (1951-1953). The bickering between the two and the other characters gives the show its humor and drama. There are sticky situations and sad moments on the show but are overrun by the comical relief. The main struggle is between the older, standard military (Col. Potter) and the new, laid back military (Hawkeye). The whole base is full of characters of all types. But the show was great. It lasted 10 years. It laid new pavement for shows after it.

The Andy Griffith Show (1960–1968)
10/10
The Old Fishing Hole
30 June 2010
The Andy Griffith Show aired back when television shows had moral fiber. Every episode had a lesson to be learned, with a good combination of humor and seriousness. The characters were likable and funny. They all had a purpose. The pairing of Sheriff Andy Taylor and Deputy Barney Fife is absolutely hilarious. And Goomer and Goober Pyle mad the show even more comical. But it had its serious points. They could obviously not air a show like this nowadays because people nowadays don't really care about moral fiber. All they want to see are the stupid and mediocre programs to day.

The black-and-white seasons are better than the Technicolor ones. Mostly the black and white one have Barney Fife. The show wasn't the same without him. Aunt Bee ads a moral standard to the show also. And Opie is the typical American baby-boomer generation kid. The show is great. It is as American as Aplee Pie.

Sanford and Son (1972–1978)
10/10
The Junk Is Here To Stay
30 June 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Sanford and Son is the classic 70's sitcom. It has the schemes and antics of Fred G. Sanford, that's S-A-N-F-O-R-D period. And his open-minded, easy going son Lammont. The show features many other characters like Fred's best friends Grady and Bubba, and Fred's Bible toting, Halleluga saying sister-in-law Esther Anderson and her alcoholic husband Woodrow. Fred is the typical old-fashioned elderly senior citizen. Having moved from St. Louis to the low-down, bad neighborhood of Watts California(Watts is a neighborhood in Los Anglelos). His wife, Elizebeth, died when Lamont was young. So Fred had to take on the challenge of raising a son and running a junk business. It is now the 1970's and Fred is a catankery old curmudgeon and Lamont is now in his thirties and is the working force in the junk business, Sanford and Son. The house is often full of commotion. Either Fred and Lamont bickering or another person is bickering.

The running theme on the show is Fred's feud with his late wife Elizibeth's family, non more prevalent than her sister Esther. Esther often visits the Sanford house. Fred has a strong disliking to her, often making fun of her appearance. Fred often compares her to fictional mounters like Godzilla or King Kong. In which Esther usually calls him a "fish-eyed fool." However Fred and Esther have put their differences aside to reach certain goals, most of which are Fred's schemes.

Fred can usually can be spotted in his "TV watching chair", watching TV. He prefers his leisure time to be watching monster movies with his best friends Grady Wilson and Bubba Bexly, both of which are also elderly.

So, all in all, this show is a very humorous. I love to watch reruns of this great show. They just can't make humor like this any more. And I doubt that they will stop showing reruns for a while.

A Look At The New History Channel: All Big Bucks And No History
25 June 2010
This is what the History Channel has come to. They are so jealous of the Discovery Channel that they are putting anything on to get money and ratings. This is a pretty stupid show that has no historical value whatsoever. All that happens is this stupid man slices things open just to see what's inside. Think of how much money is being wasted slicing some of those expensive items. From what I have seen, it doesn't even belong on the history channel. If any thing else, the show is an advertisement for the different power tools used. And the host, John McCalmont, Is just lighting himself up for the spotlight. Who cares how a honey bun falls from a vending machine.

Finally Lucas Has Done Something to Match the Success of the Original Trilogy
21 May 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I went and saw this on opening day thinking this was going to be the end to it all. It was going tho complete the saga. It did. But the problem is, Lucas held back so much with the previous two movies so that this one could deliver the goods. This movie is definitely up to par with the Original Trilogy, but it has some flaws. The only bad acting comes from Hayden Christianson, who plays Anikan. The rest of the cast is phenomenal. Another thing is that George Lucas has went a little overboard with the CGI. I have to admit that this movie actually used a lot less CGI than Episode II. Mabey George learned his lesson from the box office blunder of Episode II. But still there is still too much of it. Almost everything was sot in front of a green-screen. But at least the CGI is realistic looking in this film, unlike Attack of the Clones. But this movie has the greatness and originality of the Original Trilogy. I know people give a lot of crap about this film. But it delivered the Star Wars gold standard. At least there was no Jar Jar. If you want to dump your crap on a Star Wars movie, do it to Episode II: Attack of the Clones.

Guess who's coming to dinner
19 May 2010
The perfect weaponry show. 1 hour long. It gives a detailed description of each weapon in an one hour episode. Each episode has a different genre of weaponry.(Rifle,Machine Gun,Ammo, etc.) The host, R. Lee Ermey is a movie actor and ex Marine. The Gunny (as he is called) was in the United States Marine Corp. for 9 years (1963-1972). He was a Drill instructor at San Deiago Recruit Depot for three years before going to Vietnam. He rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. After retiring from the marines, he became a movie actor, most famously playing Gunnary Sergeant Hartman in Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket. In 2002, The History Channel got him to host Mail Call, which was a military oriented show in which the Gunny answerers viewers e-mails. when canceled in 2007, the History Channel brought the gunny back in 2009 for Lock and Load. To bad they canceled this show too.

Pawn Stars (2009– )
6/10
This Gold and Silver is starting to rust
19 May 2010
These Pawn Stars are alright, but are extreme rip-off artists. The items that are brought on the show are extremely rare and are sought after by collectors due to their rarity. The sellers are obviously hand picked due to their rare items. The Gold and Silver Pawn Shop is owned by three generations of men. Richard "Old Man" Harrison is the patriarch of the family and started the pawn shop in 1988. Rick Harrison is the son of Richard and is the star of the show. He knows the art of rip-off like the back of his hand. Corey "Big Hoss" Harrison is the son of Rick and grandson of Richard. Having worked in the shop since youth Corey is now in his twenties and is being groomed to own the shop one day. Corey's best friend since childhood, Austin "Chumlee" Russell is an employee at the shop and butt-end of the others joked. The Old Man is the often picked on due to his age and the fact that he contributes little effort to the business. Corey and Chumlee probably weigh more than the whole shop and really contribute nothing to the shop or show unless your looking for some very fat person with a lot of tattoos in Ed Hardy jeans acting like some kind big shot. The constant bickering and fighting between the four is often annoying and irritating. the constant mention of "making a profit" by Rick is annoying.

The show consist of a seller who come in to the shop and either Rick, the Old Man, or Big Hoss trying to buy the item he/she is trying to sell. The pawn stars only goal is to buy the item for as little as possible and maximize their profit by up to 1000%. Do not ever ever ever sell tho the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop. These men will rip you off royally. Do not go in there expecting retail for your item because if you do you will be constantly reminded by Rick "we have to make a beacoup profit." An offer of 30-50% is reasonable. Experts are frequently called on the show to appraise an item. Most pawn shops have an in-house appraiser that works for the shop. Rick has admitted on the show that he hates sellers that know the price of the item they are selling. Rick often rolls his eyes at experts because they reveal the true price of the item and its rarity to the seller. When ever there is no expert needed Rick and company usually act as if the item is not that valuable when in fact they are extremely valuable. This often gives the seller the impression that the item is worthless.

Most sellers go in the shop with little to no knowledge of what their item is worth. This allows Rick and company to take advantage and and downplay their interest so that they can lowball the heck out of the seller. Whenever an expert comes in for certain items they often give a price that is from such a price to such a price (like from $1,000 to 5,000). It would seem that the seller could give a price in the middle and the pawn stars would still be able to make a profit.

When it comes to negotiating, the seller does it all. Rick and company will offer a lowball, el cheapo price and WILL NOT BUDGE one penny above that. Say an item is appraised by an expert. The expert says the item is worth $5,000. The seller will ask for $5,000. Rick will jump all the way down to at the most $2,000.The bickering will go on until either the seller gets angry and leaves or finally excepts the price and falls right into the scam that the pawn stars run. There in no negotiating whatsoever. The seller will go up, down, and all around but Rick will not move his cheap price.

And you have to admit that Rick and company have their own private collections in which they can get items for cheap prices. They have even admitted on the show that they keep things for themselves.

And from what I hear, off the camera, these guys are rude and mean. I have read some things on the Internet from people who have been to the shop. They said that the Pawn Stars weren't even there. And some one got yelled at and cussed at by a director that was filming a scene in the parking lot when the person tried to leave. They said during filming that the entrances to the parking lot are barricaded and blocked off.

All in all these guys are rip-off artists not unlike the Amreican Pickers that are misrepresenting collectible items. Don't get me wrong both shows are interesting to watch.

Gone from gold to crap
18 May 2010
Spongebob Squarepants used to be Nikelodeaen's signature series. All the characters were good and the plot lines had meaning, and the show had talent. Nickelodean said in 1999 (when the show was created) that they would do three seasons and then do the movie. and that was it. until after the movie in 2004 the show boomed with popularity. so nickelodeon renewed the show for a forth season. After the movie, series creator and creative writer Stepen Hillenburg basically left the show and Paul Tibbit basically took over everything. This is when the show started going down hill. Then more rookie writers were hired and gave the plot lines dry, stupid humor. Everything that the first three seasons and the movie had set in stone was then defied and questioned in the past three seasons. all the characters have just became stupid. Spongebob has become high-pitched and annoying. Patrick is just oblivious to anything, now. Sandy is too smart and is overused. Mr. Krabs has become TOO cheap and his cheapness has been reused in too many episodes. Squidward has become too sarcastic and obsessed with himself. TOO many plot lines involving Plankton trying to steal the Krabby Patty formula. Spongebob has just become a whiny baby. If people thought he was gay when he came out, they should look at him now! It isn't funny any more. All of the plot lines are extremely predictable.(Plankton tries to steal the Krabby Patty formula, Mr. Krabs pinches a penny, Spongebob cries.) Nickelodeon is just bleeding this show dry, such as what FOX is doing with the Simpson's. They know people will continue watching it and they will keep on bringing in the MONEY. They will sponge off of this show for as long as they can.(pun intended) The show used to be for adults and kids alike, now it should be put on Nick Jr with Dora and Deiago. I would have given this show a ten star rating for seasons 1-3 and the movie. Now a one. I 100% recommend seasons 1-3 and the movie(especially season 1) Spongebob used to be the Coupe De Ville of Nickelodean, know it's just like the rest of the shows nick is limping out to the barn with.(Mighty B, Penguins of Madagascar, Back at the Baryard.)
