One Cut Two Cut (2022)
Pathetic
One of the worst movies I have seen from the KFI in recent times. Extremely bad movie. Silly plot, silly screenplay and irritating acting even by Danish Sait. The only comedy that worked for me was the end credit snippet of the secret agent. Apart from that, there isn't any stuff even to giggle in the movie. The music was lame. Overall it looks like the director was just bored and he started shooting random nonsense. Expected something better than this utter waste of time. Even after using the fast-forward button, the movie felt like it was 3 hrs long. Many times if a movie is bad, we just brush it aside as just another bad movie. But sometimes if a movie is bad, you take it personally. This is that kind of a movie. Very bad movie. Avoid it.
Oomai Sennaai (2021)
Nothing new. Nothing better.
Has all external ingredients of a good thriller. Like dim lighting, close ups, inaudible dialogue delivery, husky voiced heroine, decent music. But the story and screenplay were pathetic. Runs just under 2 hours but it seems like its a 4 hour movie.
Better casting too was required. Only Sanam and Gajaraj did justice to their small roles. Michael was a pathetic selection and he was struggling to act.
First half is a bit tolerable as compared to the second half. Watched it on prime and felt the movie was dragging even after fast forwarding many times in the second half. Hope the next venture of the director would be better.
Maa Oori Polimera (2021)
Nice Attempt
Very good attempt by the director. Nice story. Story starts off slowly. But the twists towards the end makes it very worth the time. Runtime is crisp so it dosnt bore at all. Worth the watch. Movie ends but a few questions unanswered and new questions were posted. Waiting for the second part.
Lawyer Viswanath (2021)
Stupid Movie
One of the stupidest movies I have ever seen. Rape and women's safety are the main issues of the nation currently. This movie has made a mockery out of it.
Just because the movie has an underlying concept based on "women safety issues" doesn't mean it's gonna be a good movie. Shifting the blame from the culprits to something really lame like "provocation". With that lame logic the director uses, can I say I murdered someone because they showed murder in a movie, video, web series, books or newspaper? How stupid does it sound? That is how the movie is.
The only thing this movie successfully does is shift the blame from the perpetrators. Yes, all the women's safety issues are spoken about in the movie. But at the end of it all, the stupid director is blaming technology. Give quicker justice and harsher punishments. Only by the fear of punishments women's safety can be improved.
Even a snail would have more brains than this director. One has to try really hard to become as lame as the director. Such movies give such "great" bits of advice and steps to stop people from sexualizing women. Well, they have to start with the directors of the industry Ask them to stop sexualizing women in their movies.
There is a reason why movies like Pink are well appreciated. It doesn't shift the blame as this movie does. This movie isn't even worthy to be given 1 star.
Raame Aandalum Raavane Aandalum (2021)
Could have been way better.
Hero acting was decent. Ramya Pandian and Vani Bhojan were there just to try to make people cry. Ramya Pandian's Joker movie role was better than this. Kodangi vadivel is the only shining line in this movie. Hope to see him in many movies.
This movie reminded me of the Indian Idol judge Neha Kakkar. More than judging her work is to cry and try to kindle the emotions of the people. Likewise, this movie has tried its level best to cry and kindle the emotions of people. Maybe the hero's pain is felt a bit.
Mainly the Vani Bhojan parts were like "yengaluku azhugai varala". They are showing that Vani Bhojan is in the media who covers big political meetings too. But yet she doesn't know such villages with no facilities exists? Is she ignorant or just plain stupid?
Also saying "Hindi theriyadhu poda" to a blue-collar person is sort of stupid. Even he is trying to earn his simple livelihood. Say no to Hindi imposition but that has to be told to the white-collar people and the politicians. Hero, going to a slaughterhouse, what did he expect? Overacting by crying because he is "shocked" to see beef.
Also making fun of politicians and farmer association leaders without anything to convey is just useless. Too many aimless messages in the movie. Can be avoided.
Thittam Irandu (2021)
An important Message
With a better screenplay they could have this movie as a landmark movie. But hats off to the director for thinking this story.
All the characters have acted their parts perfectly. Of course there are few logical loopholes but well those can be sort of ignored. Music and camera are apt for the movie.
There are people who think only the oppressed are the people oppressed based on caste or religion. But there is a section of people who are being oppressed based on their gender, sexual orientation, etc. Those people are not accepted by the family nor the society in general. Lets hope better directors take up stories like this and give more impactful movies that spreads awareness and acceptance.
Kudi Yedamaithe (2021)
Interesting concept told in a simple manner
Time travel and time loop is something that hasn't been explored that much in Indian industries till now. Thanks to the development of OTT platforms we have JL50 and now Kudi Yedamaithe. A well-written story with nice performances and very apt music. The acting by the cast fits properly. There is no over-the-top acting. A complex happening told in a very simple manner. A lot of unanswered questions though. Waiting for the second season.
Karthikeya (2014)
The curse that haunts the country
Religion is the curse that haunts the country. From religion came superstitions. This movie is just a lame attempt to link all bad happenings to people and all good happenings to god. The movie gives a logical and rational explanation to every problem in the movie but in the last scene everything was just wasted away again with worthless religious superstition talks. Better to avoid it.
Story is simple and decent. Screenplay and acting was also decent. Where the story turns into a god rant is in the last scene. Dialogues were good. One dialogue that was, is and will ever fit India is "everything is possible in India with faith". Superb dialogue. Shows the stupidity religious people have in India.
One can watch this movie when they feel rational thinking is increasing inside themselves. They can watch this movie and start believing in lame worthless superstitions.
Kallachirippu (2018)
Bad. Very Bad
The female lead driven series and handles few sensitive topics. But just because one chooses a taboo subject, that dosnt mean the output is going to be good. Bad screenplay. There was a lot of scope for a decent series but very badly executed web series.
Story is the only saving grace of this pathetically made web series. A taboo topic taken up with good sensibilities too. Not pushing too hard on the topic to just make the web series run.
Character development was no up to the mark. Female lead's mom character was the only well written character. Female lead is made to look "revolutionary" but in reality she is just looking useless. She wants all the good things in life without struggling and again the character is written very shabbily. Father role was also not well written. Superb scope was there but it as not utilized.
Acting wise the female lead should have been the show stealer. But here she just yells most of the times. When she isn't yelling, her facial expressions are bad. There is anger in her but it just seems irritating when she is angry. There was scope for her to express many more feelings but she just isn't good enough for this role. The female lead's boyfriend character has taken acting lessons from Arjun Kapoor. So bad he is. The female character's father is just looking and talking like a combination of a scarecrow and a robot. The boy's mother is even worse. She has the constant frown on her face which is even more irritating. The only saving graces in acting are the female lead's FIL played by Cheenu Mohan, female lead's mother and the female lead's husband's boyfriend.
In short its a very badly made series. Has touched a topic which many would avoid because of "culture". But there should be a good screenplay to hold the web series. Karthik Subbaraj could have atleast helped the director to give a better product. A better screenplay with a better cast could have given a better web series. This one is just not worth the time.
Kadakh (2019)
Not good
Movie starts off really well. The situation is set up brilliantly. But the ending was so shabbily done that it feels that the movie is a waste of time.
Ponmagal Vandhal (2020)
Very good concept
One of the movies which has taken up an sensitive yet necessary topic. One of the best movies of Jyothika and a wonderful selection of script by their production house. 2D should keep up this good work.
Cast wise Jyothika has done a nice job. But Parthiban stole the show with his usual stellar performance. Prathap Pothen, Thyagarajan and Bhagyaraj have done their parts neatly. Pandirajan role was almost unnecessary as he has just three four dialogues in the movie. Music was apt for the movie. Screenplay lags slightly at the start of the second half but it picks up again. Twists are good and one of them is unpredictable too. Dialogues are excellent. Two dialogues where the lead gives a comparison between two different cases to prove a point. Excellent work.
Story wise. This is an absolutely necessary movie. Pedophilia is something that is rampant but not talked about often in India. After satyamev jayathey episode on child sexual abuse, this movie openly speaks about it. Along with that the issue of rape is also addressed.
This movie shouldn't be missed. Hope the recent unnecessary controversy caused Jyothika speech dosnt affect the reviews for this movie. Religion might differ but the parenthood feeling is same for all people. People should realize this before they think of avoiding this movie based on some stupid controversy.
Malang - Unleash the Madness (2020)
Unleash The Stupidity
Thin story line. Pathetic acting by the lead pair. Their in the movie were just their bodies. Kunal Khemu and Anil Kapoor did their roles neatly. Passable music. Not worth the time.
Kolaiyuthir Kaalam (2019)
Very bad.
One of the worst movies in Tamil. Talent is required to crap so bad even while doing a remake. Even though her acting was good, don't know why did Nayantara choose such a script. The director's talent of ruining originals has touched a new low with this movie. First he remade A Wednesday, then Scarface and now Hush. For a movie which has a lot of scenes where there are no dialogues, the BGM plays an important role. For such a movie, it looks like even the music director is hearing-impaired like the heroine. Unwanted cameos by Prathap Pothen and Rohini Hattangadi.
In short DO NOT WATCH this movie. Its not worth even 0.25 stars.
Walter (2020)
Okaish movie
This movie isn't as bad as the reviews suggests. Decent story line about a corrupt politician and his family.
Samuthirakani was wasted in the movie. Hardly comes for few scenes and dies off without advising. Sibi Raj has just the role that is an extension of his investigative role of Satya and he does what is expected out of him. Bava Chelladurai in the villain role could have emoted better. Shirin Kanchwala in the heroine role looked too artificial and horribly written. Riythvika, thought she is giving a path breaking performance, but just looked funny and irritating in her role as the villain's daughter. Natty pulls off his role with ease. Music of the movie is sort of passable.
The movie takes up many issues but addresses none with conviction. Starts off like a political movie, shifts to investigation based medical thriller and ends with a message to the audience. Movie isn't great or path breaking but it is a one time watch if you have nothing else to do.
Asura Guru (2020)
This is why a Zero rating is requied
One of the most horrible movies watched in the recent times. Not sure if the director has even watched any movie before making this film. No screenplay. A very amateurish story.
The basic story line is that the hero is a Kleptomaniac and he steals "only" money (ya the director specifies that). The "hero" steals from a running train (sorry dhoom 2), moving car, braking walls, etc. His cop friend is helping him with his deeds. Unfortunately the hero steals the money of a hawala dealer (a stereotype Muslim charter which is involved in illegal activities). So to investigate this a detective agency is being hired by the hawala guy and the heroine is the lead detective. Along with them he police also beings their search under the leadership of a cop who is requested outta retirement specially for this case. The heroine catches up with the hero and thinks he is an "interesting" character fall in love. Then the usual twist in the tale and THE END.
The characters have no depth. As usual a bad cop twist. A horrible justification for the motive. A stereotypical Muslim bad guy who is into hawala. Heroine who destroys the role of a detective successfully. Comedians retorting to body shaming and making fun about people more successful than them.
All the aspects of the movie falls flat. Just a mental illness isn't enough to make a movie but you need a good story. Just making fun of businessmen, politicians and cops through Yogi babu isn't enough for comedy, good lines are required. Just the intention to make a movie isn't enough, should know how to write a screenplay.
Couldn't sit through the movie even though watched it during the corona lock-down. In short the movie is so bad that it is an insult to tamilrockers for uploading the movie.
Viswasam (2019)
From a Thalapathy fan
Thala made me cry for the first time. He is the anchor of this movie. Vivegam was bad and damn hasn't Siva bounced back! He bounced back in an awesome way!
Awesome family movie. After Thanga meengal, a solid father daughter sentiment movie. Yennai arinthal sentiment scenes would look like comedy in front of viswasam sentiment scenes. Nice acting by all the 101 ppl acted in the movie.
Cast. Obviously Thala fans will adore the movie. But even people who aren't Thala fans, like me, can enjoy the movie. Thala awesome. Then Nayan. Egoistic woman who hides feelings. Nice performance. The kid, Yennai arithal kid, she was a surprise package. Along with her age her acting skills have also improved. Ramaiah and Robo decent performance. Vivekh wasted for sure.
Guys awesome movie. Don't miss this movie. As I said earlier, this movie is just NOT for Thala fans but for all.
Petta (2019)
Thalaivar is back
As a person born in the 90s, grew up watching Rajni movies. Later became a fan of someone else but Rajni is like the first person we adored on the large screen. Last proper Rajni movie was Sivaji.
Coming to the movie. First half is filled with Rajni-ism. Awesome first half. The second half looks to be bit dragging but the whole story sort of reveals there.
Cast. Obviously the first is Thalaivar Rajni! That man stole the show completely. Next is our makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi. Awesome performance. Simran and Megha did their roles good. Sasi, Aadukalam Narien and Trisha have very less screen space but did their roles well. And last but not least Nawazuddin. People who have seen gangs of Wasseypur 1 would find resembles of his role at the end of the movie when he is there in the flashback for sometime. Later when he reveals himself u would see shades of gangs of Wasseypur 2.
Overall good Rajni movie with a good story and strong star cast. Kindly don't miss this movie.
Thaanaa Serndha Koottam (2018)
Another bad adaptation
While one is doing a remake of a remarkable movie like special 26, the script and the screenplay should be top notch. Unfortunately both the departments lack the grip that was there in the original. The director had made a complete mess of it.
The cast has done the role given to them properly. Suriya, Ramya Krishnan, Karthik have done their role to the perfection. But since the screenplay did not give them any scope, they could not deliver the impact that the original gave. The main reason for this is that the total second half of the movie is changed and it wasn't changed for good. It just made a mediocre movie even worse.
Another problem in this movie is the "necessity" to show that the hero is always a "good" guy even though he is a thief. And to satisfy that "necessity" a lame flashback follows. Another unwritten rule is that the hero, even though he is a thief, he should be helping all others without keeping any part of the loot for himself. These "rules" and the extended heroine part made the movie even more intolerable.
Basically its like copying the first few lines of a math problem in a test and trying to solve the rest without knowing any concept. What should have been a nice movie, was made to undergo the "flavor addition" and was given as one of the worst made remakes. For the ones who haven't watched the original, then this movie might entertain to an extent. People who have watched the original, instead of watching this movie, please get a DVD of special 26 and watch it again.
Bogan (2017)
Really Good
The story is about body swapping. So people who expects logic in a fantasy concept, please avoid the movie. Jayam Ravi plays the role of a cop and Arvind Swamy plays the baddie. The support casts too have performed well. There are no comedians in the movie and no unnecessary romance scenes.
The movie has many heroes. The first one is the screenplay and editing. Even though some might criticize it isn't as crisp as other movies, please stop comparing.Fro this movie, this screenplay is apt. The director, as much as possible, hasn't overdone any aspect neither he has underplayed any. The editing has enhanced the screenplay by snipping the movie in a way to get the maximum impact.
The second hero is obviously Arvind Swamy. The man has style. At the age of 46, he still gives the younger heroes a run for their money. Arvind Swamy literally carries the whole movie on his shoulders. When he does the positive role or the negative, he does it to perfection.
The lead actors, Jayam Ravi and Hansika, have done a good job, but overshadowed by Arvind Swamy. Hansika's best performance in the movie is during the first fifteen minutes. Acted cute and likable. Jayam Ravi also has done a decent job both as a positive and negative character. The music is another good point of the movie. Songs are decent and the BGM rocks.
The only negative of the movie is the climax. It wasn't having the impact or well thought through as the whole movie was. The climax is a let down after a good movie. If a little bit thought would have given to the climax, movie would have been better.
So on a whole an entertaining movie which can be watched. Logic loopholes does exists but it is inevitable in a movie where body swapping is the basic concept.
Karma (2015)
Really good
This is regarded as the first tamizh movie released directly online without a theatrical release. And once you see the whole movie, one will realize that the release isn't the only "one" concept in this movie. Movie starts of with a cop investigating a crime novelist regarding his wife's murder. The cops get to know many suspects through the novelist. The rest of the movie is about whether the cop zeroed on the culprit or is the novelist misguiding him or is heading towards a different ending. With a running time of under 90 mins, the movie has the capacity of holding the audience till the end. The director/actor of the movie has done a commendable job. The music too is good in this movie. The title track is good. The background score is apt for the movie. In the end, what might look like a normal crime thriller, the climax has made the whole film a kind of a mirage. One can go to YouTube, pay and watch the movie. This is really worth one's time.
Singam (2010)
2hr 30 min of fun
This movie does not have a new story. Fights are also not new. The same village stuff. But the director has done the filming in such a way that these flaws are rarely seen. Many ppl are forgetting Surya is possibly the only actor to do both a classy (kk) and a mass (singam) cop story. This movie provides complete entertainment. One thing people should follow is that they should stop comparing mass movies. Mass entertainers follow a formula which is basically a logic-less formula. The main trump card in mass entertainers is the villain n the punch dialogues. So in short similarities are inevitable. So comparison is basically pointless. This movie is not for people who look out for art stuff in every movie. This gives you full value for your money if you like to be entertained. No unwanted sentiments. Descent punches. Prakash n Surya meetings are good. But there r few flaws. Comedy was not all that great. IN few scenes Surya was found to be shouting too much. So this movie is like going to a normal hotel and having hot tasty biriyani! You will enjoy it if u like biriyani!
