The Other Side of the Door (2016)
Reminded me of Pet Cemetery
I enjoyed this movie. It had what a horror movie should have, nothing more , nothing less. However the story did remind me of Pet Cemetery where there is a tragic loss of a young male child and the parent is so grief stricken they will do anything to see them again. Even if it means horrible things will occur because of their actions. Being a parent myself I could relate to the main character and how she felt she needed closure after such a terrible accident which took her son. I was familiar with the actress from the Walking Dead series so I knew she would deliver. The little girl also does a great job playing the possessed instrument of evil for the final moments of the film. There are some "jump out" scares but I believe the lead actress does a good job of playing a woman who is first pleased then regrets what she has done to her son & her family by not heeding the warning she was given before the ritual. It was a good movie and had all the elements Pet Cemetery had way back when, evil dead kid, grieving parent, "the warning" don't do this but character does just that. Worth a watch.
Dracula 3000 (2004)
Avoid
When I saw the cover to this title I thought it would be a good movie. I was very wrong. The actors pictured on the back of the cover also lead you to believe that if they were in it this flick it might be good. Wrong again. It is very slow paced, boring, no gore, and least of all frightening. I could not believe I sat through the whole thing hoping that the action was coming soon. Finally I looked at my watch after about one hour and thought that there was no way this film was going to end well. I was right. Total waste of time and money I should have rented cat in the hat at least I know what I'm getting into there. I did see Dracula 2000 and foolishly assumed that this was the sequel but once again I made the wrong assumption. No gratuitous nudity. What a waste all the way around. Avoid this flick is my advice to anyone who even thinks of renting this one.
Hulk (2003)
Great Effects
At first I did not think I was going to like the CGI effects but the movie as a whole was really good. I also liked the cameo by Lou Forigno (not sure of the spelling). I like many others enjoyed the T.V. series of the Hulk. I never read the comics on the Hulk but I still enjoyed the movie very much. All the action scenes were perfectly done. My seven year old and I walked out of the theater satisfied. I will be buying the DVD when it comes out. Another Marvel movie classic. I recommend this movie to everyone, it's great!
X2 (2003)
great movie
I enjoyed it very much. I saw the first one and this one was better. Nightcrawler was a great character. The begining of the movie really shows off his talent. Cyclops did not get that big of a part but when he does come out he makes it count. I guess they were just trying to show off the other characters parts. There are quite a few new ones. You have to love the Magneto escape scene. My son and I really enjoyed this movie.
River's Edge (1986)
Great Soundtrack!
I do not know to much about the acting in this movie but the sound track was great. I only rented the movie because of the music. The one and only Slayer play all their hits from the their Show No Mercy album. Goes great with the movie. A guy kills his girlfriend and finally gets killed himself by another psycho for not killing for love. Great plot, music, unknown (at the time) actors. I recommend this movie it is a real Gem.
Without Warning (1980)
Good Horror Flick
Man I still remember this one and I was around 9 years old. I believe I saw it on HBO one night and it scared the crap out of me. Yes those blood sucking flying disks were very cool. I do not really remember the alien but those disks still freak me out. I have not seen it since but if I ever do see a copy of it on DVD I will add it to my collection. My kids would love it.
