Bodies Bodies Bodies (2022)
Not A Slasher!!! Leave Your Expectations At The Door
I don't know who needs to hear this but just a heads up that BODIES BODIES BODIES is a murder mystery and not a slasher film (think AND THEN THERE WERE NONE through a social satire/gen z lens). If you go in expecting a slasher film you *WILL* be disappointed. Like I don't know why it's being sold as a slasher film. It's just setting up unrealistic expectations for the horror crowd. Basically a group of friends meet up and play a game of Bodies Bodies Bodies (aka "Mafia" or "Werewolf") and one of them gets killed. Then they start to turn on each other trying to figure out who the murder is.
It's not a slasher film lol. Don't be upset if you go in expecting a serious horror film and you walk out saying "that was dumb" (despite the fact that that was the film's intention)
Selena: The Series (2020)
Get Past The Art Style and Enjoy The Story!
I was one of the many that did not like the style of this series but once Part 2 came out and the story delved deeper into Selena's life, I appreciated it more.
Get past the art style. The wigs, the green screens, the sets, you name it. It comes off cheaply made at times but once you forget about that and pay attention to the story, you'll appreciate this work more! I really broke down at the finale. I knew what to expect but the way it was delivered on screen really broke me. I didn't know I was going to be so heartbroken in that moment. All the actors did a phenomenal job throughout the series and I gained more appreciation for each one of them.
I really enjoyed this series and as a Texan, I hope more people give this show a chance and open their hearts to the story of Selena Quintanilla.
7/10.
