Life of Pi (2012)
Boring unrealistic animated film
This film was a first for me, the first film in my entire life that actually had me snoozing through it from boredom. The storyline is quite slow to take off as it meanders through his humdrum life, they get on a boat in a storm and out he goes on the the apparently in jest trying to incite the storm gods but apparently they were in a bad mood and slapped the boat around even more than before. Pi goes to escape with just one or two other people, where is everyone on board??? and ultimately after a wave or two hes on his own,.. oh except for the bizarre suicidal leap of a zebra over the rails into the descending boat. So contrived and obviously animated that it was ridiculous. Now getting away from the the story for a few moments (what a relief) my other complaining is that nothing in IMDb or in the cinema describes this film as animated or being based on computer generated images, which it so obviously is and very poor ones at that. Science fiction and other fantasy environments yes you would expect it and they are often fantastic but they are crap in this movie and not openly advertised for the public make an informed choice. Getting back to the story,... the kid spends almost all his time afloat on a lifebuoy which over time is somehow upgraded into a raft like structure. Ultimately they do get together in the boat after a another terrible storm but weakness from near starvation has the tiger incapacitated an no threat at all. Throw in a mysterious floating "carnivorous" island that eats lifeforms (yes supposedly eats people) and you will be close to bored witless. They escape from the island and eventually wash ashore where unlike Robinson and Crusoe PI and the tiger go their separate ways never to see each other again. OMG boring boring boring, silly animation that just doesn't look natural and leaves you wondering what you are actually looking at, is it computer generated or is it some kind of robotic device. Huge disappointment extremely boring.
Paranormal Activity 3 (2011)
The absolute worst film I have ever seen
I am not really into horror, there's enough real life bad stuff going in the world without watching it on the screen however I went to paranormal-3 with a friend as a birthday gift to them. The film was so dull and boring it should be given to insomniacs as cure for their insomnia, it will certainly put them to sleep.
We sat for an hour bored witless watching the equivalent of endless home movies. There was little kiddie chatting to imaginary friend, a door mysteriously shut, a light broke and a door was locked when it shouldn't have been but wow it took an hour to get to that point! Both of us were actually yawning and desperately trying to stay awake. I took a break and played some video games in the foyer for a while, apparently didn't miss anything at all. My friend went out for several very long cigarette breaks and missed nothing, ultimately we walked out because the mental torture of being bored witless was just too much.
On the way out we we bought a drink and mentioned how bad the film was, only to be told that by the young lady that a lot of people were telling her that, she went on to say that staff get to see the films before the public and she wasn't frightened by it even though she cant handle scary films.
If IMDb had negative ratings I would have given this film a -10
Senna (2010)
Disappointing and boring
As someone blessed to have witnessed the Senna Era, I found the film extremely disappointing the family footage was very grainy and in many instances didn't add much to the storyline. Very little footage was actually shown of his races, his pure genius as a driver seemed to become lost in the story line of politics and double dealing and while all of that was true and Ayrton was cheated out of several world titles I don't feel that the film did justice to his driving and the younger generations have missed out on something very special.
Ayrton was the greatest driver formula has/will ever see and the film failed to to fully bring home the brilliance of the man and his career.
Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
The most boring film to hit the screen in years
Film started out with the story of how this physically inferior guy blessed with great determination and strength of character ended up in the army after repeated past rejections that part at least contained moments of comedy and human interest worth watching but then it took a turn for the worse. How he became Captain America was a bit ordinary his almost sideshow lifestyle was boring and silly and painfully drawn out to the point of total boredom. Eventually he went off on a little escapade that did provide some momentary relief from the stupidity of the story line and boredom of watching that didn't last long before the filmed turned into something that could sold as a sleeping remedy.
I would not recommend this film to anyone it is a total of time and money and the worst film I have seen in decades.
