I Care a Lot (2020)
A dark brilliantly written (satire? / thriller?) of a movie.
Do not believe all of these negative reviews!
Do not!
I looked at the reviews before I watched the movie.
I could not believe how every review was negative! Dozens and dozens of negative reviews and only one positive review!
Many of these reviews say something like "terrible movie", "don't waste your time", "I would rate this 0 out of 10 if I could", etc.
I really have no idea what these people were thinking of when they wrote all these negative reviews, and frankly it's a waste of time to even try to figure them out. Some people like ketchup, some people like mustard!
To each his own, I guess.
But do not let all of these negative reviews scare you away from watching this movie.
All of those negative reviews almost scared me away from watching it, but at the last minute I remembered how in the past, many times people would condemn a movie, I would watch it, and I would think it was a great movie.
This is such a movie I believe.
Is this a blockbuster movie? No.
Is this going to win any Oscars? No.
Does this have a $100 million or $200 million budget? No.
Does this have tons of special-effects? No.
But what this movie does have is a very very dark and brilliant sense of irony and satire and humor.
I really enjoyed this movie! It is true that all of the main characters are people that you really just hate. And you don't really want to root for any of them.
What that means is that the actors are really doing a great job!
Because the 3 main actors are actually great actors.
And they have helped make other great movies great.
The fact that you really hate them in this movie, means that they are really great actors that were actually able to make you hate them in this movie!
And even though you may not like the subject of the script, the script was really slickly written. The casting was right on. All of the acting was right on. And the music was right on.
It's true that you must go with the flow and pretend that some of the things that happen in the movie could happen. Even though you know that in the real world, laws don't work that way, and various other things don't really happen that way. And a few things are a little unbelievable.
But If you're going to sit and nitpick a movie, you could find fault with just about every movie made.
I can guarantee that you will not know ahead of time what is going to happen.
And I can guarantee the twist at the end is really a twist.
And I think that the ending was a fitting ending.
I have to be careful because I don't want to say too much.
When the movie was over, I found that I had had at good time.
If the goal of a movie is to entertain you, then this one succeeded for me.
Yes the subject matter is inhumane and wrong and improper. But the execution of the movie itself was brilliant and cynical.
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.
Me You Madness (2021)
Kooky but very funny movie!
I have to say that when I saw that IMDB rated this as only 3.5, I almost didn't want to watch it.
But then I said to myself that the plot sounded like it could be a funny movie.
I'm so glad that I watched this!
When it was over, I was sorry it was over because I was having such a good time watching it!
You will Never be able to tell what is going to happen next.
Do not listen to all the negative reviews! I can't believe that people thought it was a stupid movie.
Yes, it was over-the-top.
But it Was a funny movie!
Do yourself a favor and watch it.
I thoroughly enjoyed it! And you probably will too! Kooky but very well done Funny movie!
Breach (2020)
Someone must have really needed some quick money badly.
First, let me tell you that I like Bruce Willis.
BUT
He must have really needed some quick money badly.
I think this might just be his worst movie to date!
If you want to watch this movie because Bruce Willis is in it, DON'T.
It's better to remember how he was in better movies he was in.
I am giving this movie 2 stars ONLY BECAUSE they at least went through the motions to try to make a movie.
This movie is truly bad!
You have been warned!
You will never get these 92 minutes back!
I'm not even going to waste my time listing all the reasons that it IS bad because I have already wasted too much time TRYING to watch it.
I couldn't watch more than 15 minutes of it!
In fact, I wanted to stop watching it after about 8-10 minutes, but I decided to see if by some chance it might get any better.
NOPE!
Everyone who knows Bruce Willis knows he is capable of much better acting then he shows in this movie.
But you can only work with what you are given,
And he was given a truly terrible script!
Even he couldn't save this movie!
I should have known by the fact that he got 2nd billing after an UNKNOWN actor!
If you don't believe me and want to watch it anyway, then you go right ahead.
And if you do, I am officially telling you right now ahead of time;
I TOLD YOU SO!
Monsters of Man (2020)
What an excellent, excellent movie!
This is a slam bang, action-packed, thrilling, roller coaster ride of a movie!
Believe it or not, this movie did not come out of a major US motion picture studio. It was crowdfunded! It's actually an Australian film. I believe the majority was filmed in Cambodia. And I also believe that their website says something about it being filmed in 4 countries.
I'm really not quite sure what the budget was. The film's website does not specifically state what the budget was. What it does say is that so many people donated so much money each. And it says that twice with different numbers, so it's kind of confusing. I may be wrong but it appears that it cost approximately fifteen million dollars. I may be doing the math wrong, and I may be way, way off. And if so I apologize. So to be honest, I guess I should probably say that I do not really know how much it cost to make.
What their website does say though, is that the film was produced for only a very small fraction of the amount that it would have cost a major motion picture studio to make.
I have seen movies from major motion picture studios that cost $150,000,000 that were not as well done or entertaining!
I would have to think long and hard to think of another movie that had entertained me so well! Don't get me wrong, there are lots of other movies that I have seen that were very entertaining and well done also. But that's not the point. The point is that this is an excellent film.
From the very beginning the action starts and it never ever really lets up! Every single aspect of the film was excellently done.
You won't want to step away for a second. The acting was excellent. The music was excellent. The Special effects were excellent. And the scenery was excellent and beautiful.
The whole movie was top-notch. I could not find fault with a single aspect of the movie. Well, there is one little tiny little nitpicking detail at the end that I could complain about. But to do that would require telling too much. And I don't want to do that. And to be truthful, it's not really something that was wrong about the movie, it's just that I think that I would've preferred something different to happen. But that's just my opinion.
Anyway. I could go on and on and on. But suffice to say, that it was the best 2+ hours I've spent for a long long time.
It never dragged, and the movie kept my attention the entire time.
Kudos to all who were involved in the making of this film. I have seen many, many films come out of major motion picture studios that were much lower quality compared to this film!
In fact, I will even go so far as to say, that it was one of the best movies that I have seen in a long, long time!
Do yourself a favor and do not miss this movie! You will not regret it. The ratings here do not allow half stars. But I think it deserves at least 7 1/2 out of ten! Go see this movie. You WILL enjoy it.
Greenland (2020)
Very well done, action-packed, end of the world film.
First, let me confess and get this out of the way, I do like Gerard Butler.
However, that is not why I think this movie is so good.
This was a very well done, action-packed, end of the world film.
Was this film totally perfect? No.
Were there any mistakes made in the film? There may have been, but you would have to look very hard to find them.
The production values were very high. The acting was very well done. Everything had an expensive, polished look to it.
The cinematography, acting, editing, sound and SFX were all up there.
The budget I believe, was $35 million; and every single penny of that is up on the screen for you to enjoy.
DO NOT allow the negative reviewers to scare you away from watching this film!
If you do, you will be robbed of experiencing a very good action movie.
It seems like some people watch a movie with the sole intention of trying to pick it apart!
Some people say that all of this is been done before. Well maybe in a way, it has.
Think about it. Just how many different ways can you make an end of the world film?
Look where we are. It's 2020. Do you know how many end of the world movies have been made?!
Hundreds, if not thousands! So to be honest, it's kind of hard to come up with an idea that is completely original. They say the devil is in the details. The truth of the matter is that in all of these end of the world movies that have been made so far, the differences between them is in the details!
For instance, we already know (from the trailers) that a planet killing comet is going to hit.
And yes, we know that there are going to be people panicking, and experiencing hardships, and all kinds of destruction, etc., etc., etc.
So when you consider all the movies that are made with that general plot outline, the only way they can vary from each other is in all of the many details.
For instance, take a movie script, copy it 100 times, and give a copy to 100 different directors and film crews. When everything is said and done, you will end up with 100 movies all about the same thing.
But all of these movies will be completely different from each other. They will have a different look, feel, atmosphere, technical expertise, flavor, etc.
And the reason that they are all completely different from each other, is because there are so many 1000s and 1000s of small details that make up a movie that cause these movies to be completely different from each other.
So like I said, the devil is in the details. And the details are what make a movie either good or bad.
All in all, I think that Greenland is a very well done movie.
So yes, when you sit down to watch the movie, you already know that supposedly, a comet is going to destroy the world. But you don't really know exactly how it's going to happen. And you don't know exactly all of the infinitely small details that join together and ultimately bring you to that event.
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.
Is it the 'comet ends the world film' to end all, 'comet ends the world films'? Probably not.
But this film is definitely worth watching. You will be thoroughly entertained.
All of the main actors are people that you actually end up caring about.
Were some aspects of the movie glossed over at the expense of other parts? Perhaps.
So all in all, let me just say this:
This was a very well done, action-packed, end of the world film.
And I believe that you will really enjoy it!
Because ultimately, the goal of a film such as this, is to entertain you.
And Greenland really succeeds.
Blindfire (2020)
You'll be scratching your head at the ending!
WARNING! SPOILER!
Yes, it had a good message.
Yes, the acting was fairly well done.
Yes, the plot was good.
Yes, it was tense and you didn't know what was going to happen.
Yes, the production values were fairly decent.
HOWEVER
The problem he and his wife had was NEVER even touched upon.
He kept making REALLY STUPID decisions.
The film had some glaring plot holes, ESPECIALLY police procedures.
As a few examples:
He would have NEVER been allowed to keep his gun and badge.
He would never have been allowed to visit the victims.
The department would have been making sure that he didn't screw up the case.
The victims would never have been allowed anywhere near him.
And at the end, what in the world ever happened to the person who started the whole thing?!
It was like a big meal in which , even though there was a lot of food, the cook left out some key ingredients!
All in all, I feel that when you're done watching this, you're going to feel somewhat cheated at the fact that the ending was resolved so stupidly!
