Children of Las Brisas (2022)
beautiful and sometimes heartbreaking documentary at the same time
Of all the documentaries I've seen in recent years, this is perhaps the one that has strucked me the most. The hopeless, poverty-stricken situation in which the young people grow up and the fiery passion they all have to escape that situation through music is beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time.
The fact that the documentary maker also followed the young people for ten years and Venezuela ended up in a deep crisis during those years gives the story even more weight. The movie tells so many stories. About the course of life itself, about Venezuela, about the hard fight the young people have to deliver to get something better for themselves. It's a pearl of a documentary, which I have watched with tears in my eyes at times.
David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet (2020)
A must see very important and beautiful documentary
A must see film for everyone on our planet. I've never given a movie the highest rating, but the message of this documentary is so important and moreover, this is the world famous David Attenborough, who (at age 93) can still tell a powerful story. And of course the images are beautiful, certainly alternated with the images of a young David.
Bankier van het verzet (2018)
Starting slowly
The film is starting very slowly. furthermore, the explanation of some of the most important subjects is stepped over too quickly. For example, the meaning of the 'Zeemanspot' was not really clear.
