Would Have Been Perfect Except...
22 April 2024
I seriously disliked the portrayal of the skeptic. It is obvious a mockery of James Randi, a man I have a ton of respect for. I am kind of sick of movies trying to make frauds like Ed and Lorraine Warren look like heroes while makiing great men like Randi look ridiculous.

It's all about money, I understand. People like to believe this nonsense of the supernatural is real without any real evidence. So sucking up to people who want to believe in it creates cash.

I was a believer in the supernaturaly until my mid 30s. I did so much investigation and obtained no proof. And then I began studying the videos of so called psychics and realizing they are full of crap.

So if they hadn't done that, it would have been a perfect 10.

Dislike For the Wrong Reasons
30 November 2023
A lot of the bad things I see in people reviewiing this movie are thinking bad things about Andy Kaufmann. The movie portrays him as unprofessional, unfunny and just a completely unpleasant person all around. And the the people who don't know Andy seem to think that Carrey gave a brilliant performance.

I used to agree with those people. I loved this movie when it came out. I had a low opinion of Kaufmann but thought Carrey was brilliant.

However, the movie made me want to learn more about Andy. I watched a lot more of his work and he eventually became my favorite comedian of all time. And as my opinion of Andy grew, my opinion of this movie sank.

Carrey was bad at playing Latka, which should have been easy. This movie also made it falsely seem like Andy was an unprofessional and soiled his legacy.

I lowered my score from a 10 to a 2.

The Simpsons: Itchy & Scratchy: The Movie (1992)

Major Flaw
23 May 2023
I love this episode, but it contains one major flaw that actually destroys the entire premise.

Bart, a 10 year old boy, is put in charge of watching his infant sister Maggie when his mother Marge is out of the house. Bart neglects his duty and Maggie steals a car and crashes it. Bart is then punished by Homer with never allowing him to watch the Itchie and Scratchie movie.

This is nonsensical. Marge was out of the house. Homer was in the house. Homer was an adult and therefore responsible for Maggie. However, due to his laziness, he put his ten year old son in charge of an infant.

In reality, Homer was the on at fault. In fact, he should have faced criminal charges for his neglect. But all of the blame was put on Bart, which was total nonsense.

They should have picked a different offense for Bart to be punished for because this wasn't his fault. It was Homer's.

Good Boys (2019)

Very Funny
14 February 2023
I find the reviews criticizing having twelve year old boys saying the F word over and over amusing. Hell, when I was 11, that was how boys talked. In fact, the boys in this movie are actually a lot more innocent than the boys were when I was that age. 11 and 12 year old boys can be VERY VERY dirty and that is what makes this movie hilarious. Us boys KNOW we were like that and it is funny to see a movie actually address that rather than make us look like we are innocent when we totally are not.

So honestly, I really enjoyed this movie. I laughed a whole lot. The kids were hilarious and so much more naive than I expected going into it. That I found a whole lot more amusing than the raunchiness of the movie.

The only part of the movie I really didn't like was the running across the street with the cars rushing by. Although, yes, we did similiar things when we were boys, but the cars were going so fast that it was more dangerous than anything else.

But if you want to watch a movie showing tween boys acting like tween boys and getting a good laugh out of it, watch this movie. It is very enjoyable. If the content offends you, I assume you probably think high school kids don't have sex. Superbad was funny because it showed high school kids acting like they truly act. That is why this movie is funny too.

Absolute Garbage
11 November 2022
Aileen Wournos killed my uncle David Spears. David was a really good man who actually had an overbearing wife. He was hen pecked but he didn't seem to mind it.

When David disappeared. His wife had him declared dead and she went on a huge spending spree. She kept bragging about how she had so much money. The family actually believed that she had him killed for quite a while.

But we soon learned the truth. He was killed by this souless, reprehensible piece of garbage, Aileen Wournos. And she claimed he tried to rape her which is completely a lie. She murdered him in cold blood.

Reading many of these reviews where people are like "I love Lee!" and "I wish Lee was my friend!" make me sick to my stomach.

This movie is fiction. It paints this evil, souless, disgusting human being as a victim.

Absolute garbage.

Chucky: Halloween II (2022)

A Very Poor Start
13 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Although there were good things about this episode, it ultimately set up a season that I am sure I am not going to enjoy.

First, I don't like when people are punished for crimes that they did not commit. Further, I don't like when they are punished by having to take part in religion.

I see there is very likely to be displays of homophobia toward Devon and Jake. I know I am not going to enjoy that.

So, this was a bad opener mainly due to how it ended and set up a season that I am sure is going to annoy the hell out of me. I am very disappointed in this.

Not only did I get to see a little kid die, I now get to see three innocent children punished for it. I am going to see religious people discriminate against gays. Chucky better make it interesting.

Garbage
17 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
We have this thing in our bodies called the parasympathetic nervous system. It has a built in response called fight or flight. So it's unrealistic and stupid to believe that only would the parents just do as they are told at the end when they knew they were going to be killed.

Their fight or flight instinct would take over until they were dead. That is a fact.

It is too bad, because this could have been a better movie. But the writer/director is completely out of touch with reality. Thus, this film is complete garbage.

I have seen this in other films, when people just give up when they know they are going to get killed. It just doesn't work that way.

Remarkably Bad
14 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
When you have a low budget movie and can't hire known actors, have special effects, film anywhere you want.. then you have to concentrate on two things: good acting and good writing.

I am not going to get into the acting here because I really don't care. But the writing of this story REALLY irritated me. The plot twist was so stupid that I can't recall ever seeing one as dumb in my entire life.

In psychology, there is this thing called informed consent. People involved in a psychological study have to sign a form detailing the details of the study. In this movie, the people sign a page in a guest book and the police say that is good enough. Wrong. The signature has to be on the exact form that explains the study. So there is strike one.

Strike two, you cannot consent to take part in an unethical study. The study in this movie was so unethical that it made the Stanford Prison Experiment look ethical. No one could consent to take part in a study in which a person gets shot. One of the characters is shot during the study. You cannot consent to that.

Strike three, consent has to be informed. Everyone has to be aware that they are taking part in a study. They have to be made aware that they are free to exit the study at any time. At several times in the taping of the events, the people begged Sylvia to stop. She never did.

Strike four, any official study has to be approved and documented by a university. No university in the civilized world would approve this study and anyone who suggested it would likely be removed from research.

The guy who shoots Sylvia coudln't be charged with a crime. The fact that he is renders the entire movie a pointless dreck and a waste of anyone's time.

Missed Opportunity
8 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Wow, they really screwed up big time with this one. They had a chance for a not really unique but at least ironic ending and instead, it failed hugely.

This is the story of five friends. One of them gets into Yale and they are having a camping party to celebrate. These friends have a prank playing culture with each other. As one of the friends comments, the pranks got mean over time because they liked seeing other people miserable.

Anyhow, after a prank, one of the boys accidentally gets killed. The boys try to cover it up a la "I Know What You Did Last Summer." But the dead friend seems to be animated after death. And then the friends keep dying until the only friend left is Pete, the boy who is going off to Yale.

Suddenly all four other friends come back from the dead to torment him. And they eventually kill him.

What WOULD have made sense was that when the four dead friends were terrorizing him at the end, they should have revealed the entire thing was yet another prank. I really was expecting that, but it didn't turn out that way.

Too bad. It would have been much better.

Utter Tripe
11 October 2021
I am shocked that anyone ever believed this was real. Low budget movies are fine, if they make up for it with decent acting. The serial killer in this movie was such a horrid actor, a child in a first grade play could out act him.

Not scary. Not convincing. Not realistic in any way. Absolutely among the worst movies I have ever watched.

Decent but slow at times
3 August 2021
This movie wasn't too bad, but it's not something I am going to go out of my way to recommend or to watch again. For a one time watch, it was great.

There were a few dumb parts and dumb decisions. I won't point them out, but I will point out these were young kids and you cannot apply adult logic to boys there age.

In regards to the bumper sticker on the car, people need to get over it. If the Trump supporters watching the movie had seen a Hillary sticker on the bumper, they would have thought it was hilarious. You can't have it both ways. QAnon supporters have falsely accused Democrats for years of being child traffickers. If you don't condemn that, don't condemn this. It is SO unimportant to the movie.

Unwatchable Due To Mimi

I just couldn't go on with this movie. The girl Mimi was too annoying and you want her to be the first one killed.

It was awful and spare yourself any second you would waste on this trashy, bad and annoying film.

Style is mere self plagiarism
27 February 2021
If Alfred Hitchcock had directed "The Crow" he would have never directed "Dark City."

Hitchcock wanted to create new things and new ideas and he refused to copy his own work. Alex Proyas gave us nothing original and tried to milk his success with the Crow.

Where is he now?

Point made.

Not As Bad As it Seemed
8 February 2021
This show wasn't bad. I wouldn't give it a rave review because it did have some problems, but it was watchable enough for me to come back and watch episode 2.

Plus, the character didn't originate with Denzel. The character originated with Edward Woodward in the 1980's. However, both of these Robert McCalls have different strengths.

The commercials made this look bad but I gave it a chance and it was decent.

Not As Bad As I Thought It Would Be
8 February 2021
Okay, first off, I am not giving this a glowing recommendation. I am also not going to pretend that Queen Latifah was the correct person to step into the role originated by Edward Woodward and continued by Denzel Washington. But it wasn't as bad as it looked in the commercials.

The show mixes some of the traits of the two Robert McCalls. Right away, you see Robyn McCall exhibit some of the traits of Denzel's character in her fighting. But you also get to see further in the episode, some of the chess playing that made Woodward's McCall so brilliant and iconic.

It wasn't great. But it was good enough for me to watch the next episode and see how it goes.

I Love Bad Slashers BUT
5 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This movie was awful and there was really nothing that can redeem it.

First off, I am so sick of the token gay character in a horror movie nowadays that is friends with the girls, makes sex jokes when someone tells him that he "doesn't suck" and nearly always has to be femmy. If you are going to put a gay guy in your horror film, you can try to make him a PERSON.

But this movie just is both boring and stupid, even compared to most slasher films. First, her parents blame her for being read ended. Wow, smart parents there. In part of the movie, she just walks around her house doing nothing for like 15 minutes. This medium size house has the most basements of any house in North America. No one calls 911. They eat a cake left by someone they don't know without considering it might be poisoned.

Really the movie is just so stupid and you should avoid it with your life. The only true victim was me.

An Amazing Penultimate Episode
23 November 2020
This episode is why I love Fargo so much. I know some people thought the previous episodes may have been slow. Although I don't agree, I do agree that this episode was far above any of them so far this season.

I won't give away anything. But the last scene is absolutely brilliant.

Deeply Overrated
11 November 2020
First off, this film is not what they tell you it is. It's not really a fantasy film. It's a war film with about 15 to 20 minutes of fantasy thrown in. But no doubt about it, it is not mainly a fantasy movie.

I watched this film because the ratings and the advertisements for it. I have never seen one trailer that shows it as a war movie. It always concentrates on the fantasy side, which honestly tells you nothing about the movie.

This is how I see this film. Del Toro had about 20 minutes worth of fantasy written and that is not enough for a feature film. So he puts together a completely unrelated war story with the bits of fantasy awkwardly thrown in here and there.

This movie tries to be "Spirited Away," but fails miserably. Like that movie and "Alice in Wonderland," the majority of the movie takes place in the fantasy world. No one really learns much of anything. There is no lesson. In fact, I felt no connection between the two worlds.

Maybe the most disappointed I have ever been in a film hailed as a masterpiece.

Perfect
24 December 2019
This movie was the right movie at the right time. This movie is a slasher with a behavioral explanation.

So many people at the time hated this movie. They didn't give it the credit it deserves. It is a film that examines the psychological abuse that Billy experienced from Mother Superior and other things.

This movie is scary and true. A Christmas and horror classic.

This is the episode I have been waiting for all season for. We finally get to see the development that leads Annie Wilkes into becoming the Dragon Lady. I enjoyed the first part, but the best was watching Annie and seeing what happens with her.

I am literally breathless. Lizzy Caplan better win and Emmy for this great episode.

Deeply Stupid
2 December 2019
This may be the first of the Into the Dark movies that I cannot find a single good thing about it.

The positive reviews for this movie seem to give it a pass for not taking itself seriously. The sad thing is, this movie takes itself very seriously. It takes its nonsensical premise to the heights of stupidity but it absolutely takes itself seriously the whole way.

I enjoy cheesy B movies. But there has to be some entertainment value. This deeply stupid film had none.

Worst Children On The Show
5 October 2019
The plaintiffs on this show deserved to go up against Judge Judy. They were truly awful people who needed to be put in their place. Their complete disregard for their father's wishes simply because they want money is terrible. If you want to see two worthless and despicable people get owned by Judge Judy, watch this episode.

I am not sure, but this has been excellent. These are the movies I grew up on and which gave me my love for horror. Perfection.

Good Until the End
5 August 2019
I would have given this movie 8 if it had a better. honestly, I am sick and tired of horror films that build up a mystery, only to never solve the mystery. This was a promising movie. I was hooked into it. There was an intriguing mystery and clues were thrown all around.

And for what? An ending with almost NO explanation at all. This is so freaking cliche now. I am sick of horror movies doing this. We want to know why these things were going on. We do NOT want to always have to write the ending on our own. That is the screenwriter's job. But people nowadays make films without and ending that explains what was going on.

Ambiguous endings have their place, no doubt. But only when the clues that came before it are meaningful to the end. Here they are not. It was lazy and the ending invalidated the whole movie.
