Glass Onion (2022)
Swing and a miss
I was looking forward immensely to this film, as the original film was one of my favorites I've seen in the past couple of years, however, honestly, almost all of it is one big let down. I really can't see any reason why there is so many high rating other than they bought them.
The cast did their best to work with a horrible script. It doesn't make much sense, and is way to predictable at other points. The cinematography, whilst looking good, does not serve the story at all, the moving shots are more distracting than anything else. It seems like the filmmakers didn't understand what effect certain decisions have on the vibe of the film. All it really does is make it look flashy, but very often the more minimalistic approach can serve the story much better, somehow I get the feeling they got a big budget and wanted to use all of it, and that kind of ruined it.
I do like how the writer wanted to make a different film than the original, but really, to me, the only really good thing I can say about this film, apart from the production design, is that they tried. Sadly, in my opinion they failed horribly in all aspects of filmmaking.
Ordinary Man (2005)
Horrid to see through: Can't wait to see the sequel
An 'ordinary' man who commits a murder to 'save' a woman; how romantic. The movie starts out as a horror movie with the standard horror elements. Black screen but noises, dark roads, forest setting, unexpected sounds and visuals and other easy scare tactics. Slowly the plot evolves into a guy having troubles at home, recently having even more trouble than before. In the break I almost left the theater, but I reminded myself I should give every movie a chance and sit through to the end to give it a chance, so I stayed. In the second half there's more of a story line and the horror elements are left out, but still at the end there are a lot of actions just not logical for a human being to do. I left the theater tonight without any clue why the filmmaker made this film and have people paying money to see it. If someone can enlighten me, contact me.
This film is pulp and I can't wait to see the sequel.
The Matrix Revolutions (2003)
Expectations can ruin things
It's a bad thing to see most of my friends disliking the second and third part of the matrix trilogy, because they're really good movies. Of course, I agree, they're not as perfect as part I, but because of it's greatness, you tend to expect even more from the sequels. Comparing these to the first one is unfair, so you shouldn't. All I can say is that the second and the third one (as I see it as one movie) are very good movies, that one should watch, but don't go there expecting it to be as surprising as the first part of the trilogy!
