Next Gen (2018)
Thoroughly entertaining and Heartwrenching
Deep and emotional - especially for a kids movie - made me cry twice as an adult. 77 is by far the most complicated character and Krazinski's V.O. is surprisingly complex despite his robotic delivery (I mean, he's playing a robot so..) and the themes of pain and loss are delivered in a truly authentic way.
If you like Japanese animation, you might find the way this show makes fun of it to be hilarious like I did. I suppose if that's not your thing then the random melodramatic action sequences might feel kind of out of place.
Overall a great movie about a troubled kid with a ton of justifiable anger issues who learns to solve issues non-violently and a robot who grows to love with this kid who he spends all his days with, despite her massive and obvious character flaws.
Forever (2018)
Slow but hilarious
Might just be my style of comedy. One of the better pilots I've seen recently. Maya Rudolph is a treasure, Fred Armison is good at being himself.
Haters Back Off! (2016)
This is Not a Comedy
This is absolutely a drama. If you struggle with cringe comedy as I do, the first 5 episodes WILL make you want to kill yourself. But once you hit episode 6 and the exposition transitions to conflict/plot line, you understand exactly how deep and intense this show is. Miranda isn't the main character - but she has the ability of making the narrator feel invisible in her own story. And that's precisely the point.
Camille (2008)
Surprisingly touching.
I found this movie as a recommendation on Netflix.com. I have about 500 movies in my online queue and randomly go through it while working at home, cleaning etc.
I thought this would be a silly movie with some ridiculous "ghostlike" copies, but wow was I wrong. I'm not a sap and am a hardcore fan of action, thriller and sci-fi but i almost got a little emotional during this movie. James Franco is the ultimate guy's guy and a complete ass most of the time - which makes everything so much more believable and the feelings you feel at the end seem natural as well. I'm not familiar with the actress but her performance was amazing. And because the slow scenes give lots of make out opportunities, it's definitely a date-night movie.
