Clerks III (2022)
5/10
Missing the target
8 March 2023
The 5/10 star is only from my happiness with seing another clerks movie, but sadly Clerks III is nothing compared to the earlier installments.

It lacks the quick and sharp dialogue and the art style from the 1st movie, and it lacks the heart of the 2nd movie.

We saw the same thing with the Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. Both these films came a little too late and with the feel just not there anymore.

The jokes and acting and overall story feels forced and not funny at all. Instead Clerks III is an homage to the earler films but fails to create something unique. Better to watch Clerks I and II instead of this one.

Watchmen (2019)
7/10
For the fans but could've been better.
13 March 2022
The first thing you notice at the start of Watchmen (2019) is how similar it is in style as the movie Watchmen (2009). I love how it's dark and unfiltered both in regards of language and in the visuals - Even though it's inspired by, and based on the the world, in a graphic novel it's a show that's not for little kids and I love that.

The "Watchmen atmosphere", if you like, is what kept me going for the full nine one hour episodes. However there are some flaws:

1. The Charachters: Angela Abar is not really that interesting... same goes with "Looking Glass" or for that matter "Lady Trieu". The Watchmen comic book from the 80's created its own vigilantes/heroes from scratch and it worked with them all being unknown by the readers. This means that the heroes must be very well developed in order to catch the interest of the new readers/viewers (which was everyone in the 80's).

The vigilantes you care for the most are the ones you remember from the movie or comic book but these are not the focus of the show which is a bit sad since a lot of times I found myself wanting to know more of for example Ozymandias and Dr. Manhattan.

2. The storytelling. It takes more than 6 episodes (6 hours) before revealing what is really happening, so the first 2/3 is just a bunch of events which you know are connected but could never guess how. During the first 6 episodes it's a lack of the classic detective work and revealing piece by piece what's going on. This meant, for me at least, that I wasn't as invested in the story as I could've been.

Overall it's a good show, with great atmosphere, visual effects etc. And it's for the fans of the comic book. If you watched the movie 100 times but never read the graphic novel you will never get the squid references.

The actors are extremely good and well casted with Jeremy Irons and Jean Smart being perfect in the roles of the older versions of the Vigilanties we knew from before. Dr. Manhattan sucks though which is a shame since Billy Crudup did the role to perfection in the 2009 movie.

I liked the show but as with the original graphic novel/movie you're dying to see more but of course with the original characters - A "Before Watchmen" TV Show woul've been more interesting to see. The show is good but mostly made me want to see the 2009 movie again.

More than meets the eye
3 January 2022
The series starts as the typical mystery comedy, but evolves to a story with a deeper meaning where you have to question what is right or wrong under specific circumstances and what i means to be humane.

The acting is great with a cast of Swedish stars where Alfred Svensson does a remarkable performance, planting him as a really good actor far from the role as "Billy" in "Leif & Billy".

A true gem of a mini-series!

The Witcher (2019– )
9/10
The show is ready for take off (Season 1)
11 September 2020
The Witcher is a well produced series in every aspect and must be one of the best Video Game adaptations ever.

Henry Cavill is perfect as Geralt of Rivia and My God is the Child actor Freya Allen portraiting Ciri absolutely perfect in her roll!

The 1st season is a mix of a Main Story and the "Monster of the week" formula. It's good for casual viewers but I would've loved to see more Main Story since it's the best part of the show.

It's impossible not to campare The Witcher with Game of Thrones. GoT shines more in the script and overall lore but The Witcher is just a BIG surprise and I can't wait for the next season, hoppfully with more Main Story.

Raw and Powerful
14 July 2020
Stockholmsnatt is about Swedish Paolo Roberto and his violent behaviour in the streets of Stockholm City by night.

Even though some of the acting sucks, it's surprisingly well put together with great 80's music and a believable story that you feel had happened for real. The high pace is also adding to the watchability even now in 2020.

Stockholmsnatt is a genuine glance into the underground violent youth in Stockholm in the late 80's which is truly fasinating to watch.

What a mess...
12 July 2020
I don't know where to begin. It: Chapter 2 is just a blur of non-sensical stuff happening all over. I didn't feel for any of the characters and there are so many jump scares it's just boring. The mixing with past and present is also bad, confusing and makes no sense.

The acting are mixed, with James McAvoy being the worst of the bunch with terrible non-believable studer. Jessica Chastain, Jay Ryan and James Ransone does solid performance (as well as ALL the child actors from the flashbacks) but this doesn't save the movie. Bill Hader is a funny guy and good actor but has no chance with the many terrible and out of place lines he's being dealt.

The top side is that it's obviously high budget and well shot, but that's about it. The 1st chapter is by far the best, and if I want to watch a better IT-movie I'll watch the 1990 version any day of the week.

Fabulous!!!
6 July 2020
Loved this Movie from start to finish! They manage to include everything that's corny and typical for Eurovision and add it to the film. Togerher with Icelandic folk lore and how they are as a people, and also the warm and feel-good atmosphere makes for a great feeling throughout the Movie!

In addition it's funny and foolish in best Will-Ferrell-manner with stomachache laughter guarantee.

I absolutely loved this one!

The Mindset of an immortal Legend
27 May 2020
Michael Jordan is one of the most fascinating athletes in history. He was so incredibly dominant in NBA and the game of Basketball with 6 NBA Titles and 2 Olympc Gold Medals.

The Last Dance shows the mindset of Michael Jordan and in detail reveals his Strong Personality, Alpha Male Dominant Leadership and also his behaviour though the years.

With interviews, archive footage and high production value this documentary stands out as one of the best and most interesting documentaries I have seen in many years. To follow MJ's journey is also a fantastic historic document of the Chicago Bulls and their winning dynasty. Many strong and interesting characters and players who was part of the Bull's sucess story are interviewed which is truly interesting to watch.

A must see for anyone who has the slightest interest in Sports, and an homage to the createst Player and the Greatest Team in NBA History.

Great Episode!
24 April 2020
"Eve" was 100 times better than expected. A lot of suspense, real detective work by Mulder and Scully and plot twists flying all over the place.

I like this one a lot!

Better than I remember
13 April 2020
I used to have a VHS with "Squeeze" and "Tooms" that me an my brother bought when we were kids. I have watched this episode maybe 5 times or more and back then I thought the newer (season 5-7) were better.

Squeeze is am intense thriller with a great "monster" in Tooms. Very good episode and a great start with the first ever "Monster of the week"!

Choose your fights
12 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is the introduction of "Deep Throat" and a clear government denying secrets episode. It's inconclusive and we never really learn that much other than the importance of choosing your fights carefully since the military and the government can do what they want.

You get a first glimpse into secret UFO/Alien projects and the governments involvement and also so little that you just have to know more.

Great classic episode! Deep Throat is perfect and all actors are great! Nice with a small role by Seth Green as well!

A liked this episode! Great characters even though "Bambi" and the scientist in a wheelchair were a bit like caricatures. The psychological aspects "is it real or not" is the best part!

Darin Morgan balances on the thin line and pulls it off
12 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode I felt was a bit too goofy in the beginning and not really believable regarding the psychic that was used which I felt was strange.

After about 10 minutes the episode lifts itself and is really good! Funny, smart and actually a bit heart warming where you feel for "the real psychic". The killer is maybe a bit too easy of a character but that's OK.

Great and memorable episode!

Psychological and well acted
12 April 2020
"2Shy" is a strong stand alone episode with great acting and a very intense thriller story that had me on the edge of my seat until the very end.

It doesn't really has to be about the paranormal. The reason why "the monster" acts the way he does, really isn't necessary and could just have been the motive of the sexual predator.

Especially "the monster" is extremely well played. A very good episode!

The X-Files: Pilot (1993)

The perfect start, and a strong episode that stands on its own feet
12 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The "Pilot" episode is a great start of "The X Files" and a perfect introduction to the series. At the same time it stands out on its own with a story that is surprisingly good and way better than I remembered from my first viewing maybe 15 years ago.

The story is great, the actors are great and there are several golden moments, intrigues etc. thrown in. In combination with the introduction of Mulder's reasons to be with the X files, the abduction of his sister, Alien abductions, time loss, the cigarette smoking man lurking in the background and much more, this is just an amazing episode that gets you right in the action from the start.

A perfect X files episode and the perfect start of one of the best TV Shows ever made!

Interstellar (2014)

The 2001 of our time
5 April 2020
Interstellar is a beautiful film with heavy focus on sound, music and visual effects. It takes you on an emotional journey and truly shows how the medium of film can be used as a form of art.

Yes, the story is good, the actors are great, the ending plays with your imagination, and of course you can't help but compare it to "2001: A Space Oddysey" because there are so many similarities.

I've seen Interstellar three times now and the time in the Cinema was by far the best. It's difficult to give this film full justice without maximizing the sound and music. Still it gets better every time I watch it, as a story and as the art that Interstellar is. A much watch, and one of the best Science-Fiction movies ever made!

As a Twin Myself: This is a fascinating story of the bond between two twin brothers!
22 March 2020
I am a twin myslef and I know what it's like to grow up with a person the same age, sharing the same interests, the same memories and even the same birthday. You know everything about each other and also why the other acts the way he does. My brother and I rarely, if ever, have any personal or emotional conversations, but the thing is that we don't have to. I know most about him and he knows most about me. I know why he acts in a certain way because we grew up together and I myself usually reacts emotionally the same way he does to a given situation.

These "twin facts" clearly reflected in the documentary, and the emotional journey of Marcus and Alex. It tells a disturbing story no child should ever go through, and in combination with the confusion of memory loss and not being able to trust the one person you should always know everything about. I can understand both Marcus' and Alex's actions and both are right in their own way.

An intersting and disturbing story of a terrible childhood, and a fascinating story of the bond between two twin brothers!

The first time a documentary made me cry
10 March 2020
As a father of two small boys it was just heartbreaking to see and learn of Gabriel Fernandez horrifying fate. It's unbelievable that anyone can do to a small child what Gabriel's mom and the mom's boyfriend did to him.

The documentary is extremely well made and the makers knows what buttons to push and how to deliver a message with as much emotional effect as possible. I think this is a good choice for this documentary since the details are just so difficult to take and understand. By the end of the first episode I just started crying because the actions commited to Gabriel was just so horrific, and I imagined how he must have felt and how scared he must've been.

I just wish that Gabriel was alive today and could spend his life with people who loved him. as many people did. At least he can't suffer anymore but the one's who loved him will forever suffer from the loss of this wonderful person.

Spartacus (1960)
9/10
Epic movie with a strong ending
16 February 2020
This movie is grand and epic with the classic Roman style and more extras than you can count. Kirk Douglas is a great actor and delivers perfectly, however I do feel the character is a bit under developed and you never really gets to know him since the focus is more and grand plan to free all the slaves.

I was about to give this movie 8/10 but the ending elevates Spartacus to another level. The tragic, and yet the somehow best possible, ending was unexpected and made Spartacus emotionally a lot stronger than I thought this movie was going to be.

A must watch for anyone who loves the epic classics, or to any fan of Kirk Douglas!

Thrilling from start to end
9 February 2020
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is thrilling from start to end where you constantly wonder what will happen. All the main characters are brilliant with Douglas, Mason and Lukas being just perfectly cast for each roll.

Usually when I watch old movies I have some aspects that I just need to accept, such as special effects, sound, and overall techniques that didn't exist at the time. But you forget all this when watching this movie because it's so well made and the old stylish movie making works in its favor, possibly due to the fact that it is set in the 19th century.

I was very positively surprised by this movie being so good. For a classic movie this is a must watch!

An uneven Vietnam War Movie, but with some Shining Moments
13 January 2020
The Boys in Company C is a very uneven movie, which makes for a mixed experience. R. Lee Ermey does his iconic drill instructor role 9 years before Full Metal Jacket which in itself makes this movie a must watch!

Stan Shaw is perfect for the Lead Role as Tyrone (and as a side note: My God can the man sing!) and the other main characters are good for their roles.

Sadly the script is underwhelming and a bit unbelievable at times with countless insubordinations and dangerous acts which would make for court martial 10 times over for each of the main characters. The acting is not good for the emotional scenes and although the setting and scenery is well done, other aspects like explosions and fighting falls very short. The story never really evolves and comparing to later Vietnam war movies it's not anywhere close.

Still, there are some shining moments: The beginning is good, boot camp is great and R. Lee Ermey is awesome, the initial scenes in Vietnam are good and Stan Shaw is almost too good for this movie, but again, the movie sadly never lifts.

Yes, the body count insanity is shown in a good way which I like, but this drowns on the otherwise inconsistent script.

I'm impressed with a movie like this coming out just 5 years after USA left Vietnam, and that they casted an African American as the Main Lead, and I'm sure it was a good movie at the time it came out.

Watch it if you're a fan of Vietnam War movies, but don't expect another Full Metal Jacket or Platoon.

Joker (I) (2019)
9/10
Joaquin Phoenix kills as the Joker
4 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Joker is a dark movie which is a combination of both the Origin of the Joker and a journey inside the Joker's mad mind. I love how the villain is the Main Character and how he can carry his own movie like he's an even bigger star than Batman. To be honest you never even think of the Batman because the film is so fully centered on the titular character.

Joaquin Phoenix does the best performance of his life and is flawless in his performance with insanity, agony and just every detail that is the Joker.

The movie is not flawless: Phoenix kills as the Joker, the production value, effects, sound, music and everything is fantastic but the story does have an uneven script in several aspects:

1. What is real and what is in Arthur's head os not clear enough: For exampl, it was obvious that the love story between Arthur and his neighbour was all in his head but this wasn't shown until much later. 2. The ending: OK, so was the entire story all in his head? Or was he comitted after the movie took place? Did he somehow kill the woman in front of him? The ending is just thrown in and makes little sense due to lack of explanation.

The complaints I have is of course nitpicking on an overall fantastic movie. It's worth the watch for Phoenix's act alone and he raises the overall quality to an incredible level.

First Blood (1982)
8/10
Great movie on PTSD, and Sylvester Stallone´s best performance!
22 November 2019
First Blood is by far the best Rambo-movie and a truly tragic story of the elite soldier Rambo who is now lost in civilian society.

The first half of the movie is brilliant, with flashbacks to the war, and an intense hunt on Rambo where you understand just how sick and mentally ill he is. At the same time we're also shown how the hunt in the woods turns him in to the programmed war machine that he is.

The 2nd half is weaker with more focus on action and Rambo shooting and blowing stuff up which is too bad because otherwise I would give this movie a 10/10. The ending however redeems most of this since the encounter between Rambo and Trautman is extremely strong and a fantastic performance by Sylvester Stallone!

Seeing First blood for the first time in many years was a big surprise for me. It's totally different from the other movies in the series and by far the best.

The best Action-/ Post-Apocalyptic Movie ever
25 October 2019
This movie is truly in a league completely of it's own. The visuals and sound create an extremely intense feeling throughout the film, and the disturbing post-apocalyptic insanity that is the reality for those involved makes you wanting to look away which you can't because of the work of art that is Mad Max. Fury Road!

George Miller finally got to do a Mad Max movie with all the effects that's possible with today's technology and the result is just stunning!

One of the best movies of all times!
