Chasing Liberty (2004)
Mighty Good Movie Made Even Better By The Marvy Ms.Moore
What can I say about Chasing Liberty? It's a pretty good, maybe not ultra great but pretty good film. The film I suppose depicts what it must have been like for Chelsea Clinton. However, the movie does depict those 2 lovebird agents as nags, an annoying component to the movie. While a very enjoyable movie, you find yourself almost distracted by the overwhelming urge to root for the pests aka agents to loss the trail and more for Ms. Moore to get away. The movie is dead on atleast in portraying the woes of emotional suffocation . The 2 agents who fall in love tend to come across as negative, sadly because of their relentless desire to do their jobs. If they were shown to be more human and allow MS. Moore's character her real freedom they may have come across as heroes instead of goats. Likewise can be said about Moore's costar who plays the agent she does not know is an agent. I found myself praying he would get lost or fall into the Danube, lol, sorry, regardless of the inevitable love story that develops. The best thing he did was to quit is job near the film's end. The cast is very good, including Mark Harmon of Freaky Friday and the woman who played Mia's mom in Princess Diaries, though I forget her name, lol. Both are convincing in relatively small parts as a nurturing it seems first lady and a smothering, over protective even seemingly cruel President.I wouldn't vote for him! Anyway the heart of the movie is of course, Mandy Moore. She is probably the most beautiful young woman alive now ( Hallie Berry eat your heart out, Julia Roberts take a lesson from Mandy). Mandy's face and bright spirit warm your heart and light up the screen with their presence from start to finish. Mandy is invariably delightfully funny, naive, scared, angry and sad and she doesn't miss a beat on portraying any of those. As for the body double in the nude scene Mandy even chose well on that one ( not that I am trying to disrepect her own real body). All in all do see this movie. Mandy Moore starring it alone merits a 9.0 out of 10.0 Highly recommended. Ignore the professional dimwit critics who panned it. They themselves need to be criticized. Thanks.
