Columbo: Identity Crisis (1975)
This one is terrible
The plot is a jumbled mess. Even worse, Columbo himself seems to be having an identity crisis. His behavior is just strange and bizarre throughout the episode. For example, in one scene he is too distracted by a belly dancer to even be able to focus on questioning a witness. He lacks his usual charm, which is most of what makes the show so enjoyable. Skip this one.
Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
Should have called it "Mad Furiosa"...
Mad Max becomes a secondary character. This film lacks the grit and intelligence of the original "Mad Max" and "The Road Warrior". See those and skip this one.
The Predator (2018)
Just terrible
Big disappointment. Any hopes for remnants of the original film showing up here were shattered by a lame story, poor writing and bad acting.
Bloodshot (2020)
Give it a shot!
This movie has some great action sequences. Yes, there is plenty of CGI, but overall the movie paces itself well. It delivers what you'd expect going in! Eliza Gonzalez is quite a looker and steals many of the scenes she's in.
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
Just a quick review/comment...
As others have said, the film is a little long - however the acting is terrific, as is the mood of a long-gone era. I see that some have knocked the ending. I feel quite the opposite. It made me feel even more sad for the victims, as we all know what actually happened.
Ad Astra (2019)
Apocalypse Now meets 2001: A Space Odyssey
Very dark and at times slow, but extremely well-made. Most of the visuals are stunning and really impactful. I feel that Brad Pitt did a terrific job here, projecting both his inner and outer turmoil. There are some holes in the science, but they are easily overlooked. Definitely worth a look.
The Punisher (2017)
Netflix, Re-Consider Bringing Back The Punisher for a Season 3!
I feel that this series was just getting started and Netflix just pulled the plug!
Season 1 was excellent - lots of suspense and plot twists, combined with some terrific action. Season 2 was a bit uneven but still packed a punch. Jon Bernthal breathes life into what could have easily been a one-dimensional character. His peformance is outstanding throughout both seasons.
While he's not mentioned much in other reviews, Ben Barnes' performance was equally outstanding and his character transition from season one's deceptive and manipulating Billy Russo to season two's tortured and confused "Jigsaw" is amazing to watch! He manages to make the viewer feel sympathetic, even towards this murderous/treacherous character.
The rest of the supporting cast and writing is equally terrific. With only two seasons, this is a great weekend-binge viewing!
