The death capitol of Maine.
24 April 2024
How can you not enjoy this humorous dialogue between Sheriff Metzger and Jessica, acknowledging what we all know, Jessica finally had to travel outside of Maine and the United States, or the entire population of Cabot Cove would be dead.

Sheriff Mort Metzger: "Do me a favor, please, and tell me what goes on in this town. I've been here one year. This is my fifth murder.

What is this? The death capitol of Maine?

On a per capita basis, this place makes the South Bronx look like SunnyBrook Farm.

I mean, is that why Sheriff Tupper quit? He couldn't take it anymore? Somebody really should have warned me, Mrs. Fletcher.

Now, perfect strangers are coming to Cabot Cove to die."

Skyscraper
18 April 2024
I had a crummy day today and I searched for a movie to help me forget everything. I wanted action and a hero.

Skyscraper was the movie I chose and it worked. Dwayne Johnson has believable hero DNA, just like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

For enjoyable entertainment, Skyscraper works.

Most of the action is set in Hong Kong's tallest building in the world. It has a world class hero, despicable villains, rival gangsters, money laundering, extortion, families in peril, redemption.

Ignore the low reviews, if you are like me and sometimes seek out a diversion from a rotten day, and watching an action packed movie with a great hero helps you get through the day, I recommend Skyscraper.

Resident Alien (2021– )

Season Four Needed
6 April 2024
We need a Season Four and maybe more. Five, six, seven? We need answers to what happens to Harry now. What happens to everyone we came to know and love?

The first season of Resident Alien was spectacular! Clever smart dialog, lots of humor and a cast easy to fall in love with.

As many reviewers mentioned, Season Two seemed to have lost its way with the heart and soul of Harry and the town.

But now, Season Three is back and concluded with a huge cliff hanger!!!!

What are we suppose to do? Resident Alien has an audience that loves the inhabitants of Patience, Colorado. Harry Vanderspeigle, Asta, Max, Sahar, Deputy Liv, Sheriff Mike, D'Arcy, Ben and Kate, Dan Twelvetrees and too many other to name.

Matlock: The Con Man (1989)

10 stars for Philip Sterling as Kenneth Roberts
28 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
10 stars for Philip Sterling as Kenneth Roberts, his courtroom performance at the end of the episode, leaves me in astonishment. Through the years, I've watched this episode three times, and every time I am amazed at his ability to become the anguished, tortured father.

He is the heartbroken father. Watching him is a Master Class in acting. His ability to transform into Kenneth Roberts is a form of Immersive art. It's Immersive Acting Art.

Philip Sterling placed me in the center of the experience, in the courtroom with him.

I felt his pain, his soul's destruction. I saw he knew his life ended when his son committed suicide and the only reason to continue on this earth was revenge. And he got it. He didn't exist anymore in the courtroom. He was a shell, a ghost.

I think his segment in this Matlock should be shown in all acting classes.

Happy movie!
25 March 2024
Sometimes, as humans, all we want is a movie with a sweet, happy ending.

This is one of those movies. Gwyneth Paltrow Plays her character, Donna, with a sweet sincerity and I love her for it.

Yes, this might be a formula plot, but who cares? It's happy, uplifting and has the good person overcome life's obstacles one by one. It's a movie to cheer on.

Don't Stop Believing.

Parker Posey as Dr. Smith? Brilliant!!!!
24 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Parker Posey as Dr. Smith? Brilliant!!!! She is great in everything she does, she adds such smart, clever edge to all her work.

I've only watched one episode, but I'm hooked. The Robot, saved from death by brave Will Robinson (Will, by the way was abandoned by his father, on this frozen planet they crashed landed on, his father scurried away to save another of his children trapped in freezing water, stuck under ice) well, the Robot is the second best part of this show. Parkey Posey is first, the Robot second. And Will Robinson should seriously consider a Declaration of Emacipation from both of his parents. They are awful care givers. The father knows he is a bad father, you can see the jealously in his face when he sees the Robot is a much superior protector to his whole family.

I liked this movie except for one thing
27 September 2023
Los Angeles District Attorney, George Gascon.

I liked this movie, except for one thing. I could not figure out why I disliked Mark Rylance's character, Peter Isherwell so intensely.

He is almost a duplicate creation of the pathetic Los Angeles District Attorney, George Gascon.

His looks and mannerisms. His sad, little, whiny, voice.

Peter Isherwell is George Gascon.

Whiny, despicable, always searching for self gratification and desperate to be adored by the lame idiots that voted for him.

Every time Peter Isherwell appears on the screen, it is repelling. Peter Isherwell Is George Gascon in all his whiny wushu washy glory.

I'd leave with the aliens if I had a family like Richard Dreyfuss's
23 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'd leave with the aliens if I had a family like Richard Dreyfuss's character, Roy Neary.

Ages ago, in 1977, watching Close Encounters of the Third Kind, I was caught up in the story about the people that witnessed the UFO's. I was amazed at the visuals, seeing the space crafts and at the end, the mothership.

But re-watching in 2023, the irritating, horribly behaved children Roy and Ronnie Neary have, gave me a different perspective.

One awful kid, standing in a playpen, was whacking the life out of his little sisters doll, breaking it apart. He was screaming and yelling, the wife was a nagging pain and the other two kids were little monsters.

The best thing that ever happened to Roy was having his encounter on the railroad tracks while he was sitting in his truck.

It's very easy to see why being chosen by the cute aliens at the end of the movie to join them in the mothership and go out into the universe, was not a sacrifice for him. The poor man was saved from hell on earth.

An accidental recording of "THE" recording is created.
2 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Interesting "what if" take on the 18 1/2 minutes missing from Nixon's Watergate tape.

Nixon and Al Haig have been recorded by a sound-activated taping system installed in the Oval Office. They are recorded as they listen to the complete, entire Watergate tapes. This is the premise of the movie.

An accidental recording of "THE" recording is created and no one knows it exists.

Connie, a White House transcriber, does her job and listens to this tape to transcribe, as she listens and types the contents of what she hears on the recording, she realizes she has the missing 18 1/2 minutes being recorded as Nixon and Al Haig listen to it and make comments about what they hear.

Connie calls a respected newspaper journalist and asks to meet with him so he can listen to the recording and write a story.

Many odd people become involved as the movie progresses and as the movie concludes, it's revealed some people are not who they claim to be and a huge conspiracy is revealed.

The way the movie unfolds, especially after watching, "White House Plumbers," "Gaslit," "All the Presidents Men," and knowing how corrupt many politicians and billionaires are, it's not impossible to suspend belief while watching 18 1/2 Minutes.

Yellowstone: Daybreak (2018)

Tense
6 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The first episode, in the first few minutes , a terrible accident has killed many people and severely hurt a horse. Kevin Costner's character, John Dutton, shoots the horse. Then a cow is in extreme pain and men help her with her "calving." Later, an older Native American man is in a group of other people, all on horse back. He rides ahead of everyone and shoots a bison, most people seem to be in agreement with his shooting.

This was what seemed like the first twenty minutes of Yellowstone's first episode, first season. Too much tense watching for me, worried about what animal was next on the hit list. I am with the other people that don't understand how or why this show has such high ratings.

Don't Worry Darling (I) (2022)
8/10
I want the backstory!
29 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I gave this an 8, because it was beautifully filmed, all the actors immersed themselves in their parts, the scenery was gorgeous and the soundtrack was just right - merging music from the 1950's through the late 1960's. We soon learn it's not really a 1950's dream suburb, it's a present day virtual reality world, inhabited by willing men and except for one, unwilling women.

It's a modern day version of the 1975, "The Stepford Wives." I've read many of the reviews, and an interesting thread is how was this virtual reality world run? What kept it together? How did the husbands mange to care for their wives/female partners in the real world? How did they make an income? And so many other questions.

And the ending, if Alice did manage wake up, break back into the real world and out of the virtual reality hell she lived in, how would she get out if the restraints wrapped around her arms and legs?

How would she explain her dead husband laying next to her?

There may never be a part two or sequel to, "Don't Worry Darling," but if Olivia Wilde and the cast wanted to return and have the much needed back story to all these unanswered questions, I would watch that movie! I want the backstory.

Lethal Weapon (1987)
10/10
Great memories, good movie!
27 October 2022
I was so incredibly naive in 1987, I had no clue, "Lethal Weapon," was a movie or even existed.

My best friend had a suprise birthday present for me in 1987. She had reservations at Spago's, in Beverly Hills, the ultimate place to have any kind of food, what so ever. Wolfgang Puck was the king of restaurants.

We entered Spago's and we were surrounded by a group of extremely well dressed, highly attractive people. They basically overtook Spago's. The reservation my friend had made, weeks in advance, was undone.

It didn't matter to me, we had so much fun sitting at the bar, having drinks and appetizers and lamenting, "Why do accountants have such priority over us? We had reservations!" We misunderstood the manager explaining to us, a party to celebrate the premier of Lethal Weapon was under way at Spago's. We thought they said Legal Weapons, and it was some kind of accounting/attorney/legal party.

Still one of the best nights of my life.

The glass, the glass
17 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The police notice details and Harry is a detail genius. But how does Harry and every other detective not notice, Edward Gunn does not have any drinking glasses in his place that even slightly resemble the glass Harry has his fingerprints on? No one made a comment. And how does Harry not notice, after many many many times looking at the photos.............this glass is EXACTLY the same style of the same glass he was drinking out of when he ordered Mexican food to go. And the restaurant is one he often frequents so it's possible he might have noticed. How does no one else in the investigation, not notice the glass is one of a kind, meaning not one Edward Gunn has in his cabinets?

Mid-Love Crisis (2022 TV Movie)

Really?
12 October 2022
A woman, beautiful at any age, has a crisis because she is getting older? Join the club! Not everyone has the DNA option of being physically attractive as they go through all the unfair trails of life as they grow older. And turning 50? Healthy and attractive and financially set? Get real! Such a dumb movie, based on shallow, empty characters with empty matters pressing on their shallow lives.

I have no more words to add to the required 600 characters, just want to say this movie makes me cringe. On my shallowest day, I was never this bad. So self absorbed and oblivious to what is going on.

Flying scenes good
27 August 2022
Sorry, but I thought this was a boring movie. It was nostalgic, but it was also boring. The flight scenes and action scenes were great. But the dialogue was dull, full of cliched sentences. I don't think the writers on top of their game, and it's a shame because this could have been a very good movie, it needed better writing. Even the music was not inspiring. I don't know why this movie has such high ratings, probably the nostalgia and flying action was truly outstanding. It was good to see Tom Cruise in action again, he is a true star and a it seems he can do anything. I wish he had hired better writers for the dialogue.

The death capital of Maine?
1 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is the best dialogue with Sheriff Metzger and Jessica, acknowledging what we all know, Jessica had to travel many times outside of Maine and Cabot Cove, or the entire population would be dead.

Really bad script.
29 June 2022
A good example high caliber actors honoring their commitment to do their best in a poorly written movie.

They must have sensed from the second day of shooting what a mess they were involved in, but they kept going and finished the job. That is admirable.

Much better than the other imitation Ghostbuster movies.

The best part of this movie is the costume design for Jane Fonda by Orry-Kelly. Exquisite.

Especially while sight seeing the Greek ruins, the gorgeous dresses had a life of their own, blowing and moving with the breeze.

If they need so many flashbacks at least make them black and white
9 February 2022
Highly irritating flashbacks. If the writers feel they need to keep popping so so so many flashbacks into the stories, then at least have the flashbacks a different color from present day scenes. Make the flashbacks black and white and give the viewers a break. Sometimes we blink or turn our head and we wonder is it the past or present.
