The Simpsons: The Star of the Backstage (2021)
Worst episode ever
Not even writing how terrible this episode was. Let's just say it's a horrendous start to the new season. 1 year wait for this.
Next Gen (2018)
An absolutely amazing movie
Starting out your like yeah, then you get annnoyed with what happens and as others have said the little brat. However as it progresses it becomes truly spectacular. Im not an emotional person but damn this hits you right in the feels. The visuals are stunningly detailed. and the main robot is great. I cannot recommend this movie enough. Heres hoping for a sequel
Brawl in Cell Block 99 (2017)
just bad... so so bad
This is a movie i was actually looking forward to this quite a bit, especially since its starring Vince Vaughn. Movie starts off well, Vince plays a "hard former boxer type" guy and seems to be able to portray the character well. Not long into the film though and it starts to go downhill. By the end of the movie hes almost unbearable to watch. He's so stiff, janky and awkward, everything he does seems like its forced and doesn't seem to be as natural as say Dwayne "the rock" Johnson or Jason Statham does it. That said however there is massive potential in him to transition into more of these roles, im not sure if he has done more action movies, but if he hasn't its definitely something he could pursue. It would require a few more movies under this belt though to round out his skill set. As for the other characters, they are worse than Vince, untalented, stiff, moronic actors who cant even seem to do basic acting. This may have to do with the director and script writer because it was appalling. I mean literally the "script" (i use that term loosely because there might as well not have been one) consists of a whole what might as well be 5 lines of dialogue. There's sections of the movie where for a good 5- 10 minutes its just silence. Like near the beginning of the film, where they are getting the drug drop, most of that section is silent. Like what are we supposed to believe nobody's saying anything?. The premise for the movie is good, and with a better writer and director and better supporting cast, plus more training for Vince it could of been one hell of a film. What it comes down to is just a good idea, and a "talented action actor in the making", supplemented by a terrible script, poor camera work and a bunch of lousy second rate actors. Real disappointment tbh.
Overdrive (2017)
A worthy contender for the "fast and furious title"
This film put simply is amazing, being shot in a beautiful part of France was a real treat to the eyes. A lot of cool and unique places where used. The cast i've never heard off but they're pretty solid, the main brother (Andrew) seems to have that "shits about to go down look" to him. Probably my favorite character in the movie. The bad guys, where okay nothing really special about them. The cars.....my god the cars. I'm not really a car guy but this movie has some pretty sick cars in it. To say this movie only had a budget of 24,340,000 (£21,759,351.50) they've managed to get a hell out a lot of bang for they're book. Massive open areas, mansions, a vast array of cars, the actors, VFX etc. Pretty impressive tbh. So would i recommend it, absolutely. Im already hoping for a sequel
The Houses October Built 2 (2017)
God forbid they make another one
Not worthy of a one star, 0* is my true vote but IMDb won't let me do that.
Where to start with this piece of trash. I was actually looking forward to this so i decided to watch it last night, fell asleep about half an hour in, decided to come back to it tonight, literally didn't interest me a single bit, was browsing the web, messaging my girlfriend, playing an online casino thing, anything to drown that movie out. I got 52 minutes in before i said forget it i ain't wasting any more time on this . Everyone who had any part of this abomination should leave the industry completely. I've seen bad horror movies, but at least they have something going for it. This movie is as bland as water, in fact i'd rather sit and watch a cup of water for 2 hours than this garbage. People are delusional to have made this a 4.6*. One of the worst movies i've ever seen, so boring, uninteresting, uninspired. It's a cluster of annoying and disappointing, stay away. Stay well away. Consider this me doing you favour
The Guest (2014)
I need to write this review
let me start by saying this a "throw-away" movie, by that i mean i expected it to be garbage, but it only cost £1 so i'm not bothered if its a massive flop.
I found myself bored yesterday, so decided to chuck this movie in the ps3, like i mentioned before i wasn't expecting much, however within the first 10 minutes i was hooked. I have no idea who Dan Stevens is but his performance was incredible, he makes a psychotic killer seem like a cool friendly guy. As we see his progression from a random nice guy, to a FBI slaying madman you can't help but root for the guy. The other characters in the film are mostly well played Brendan Meyer "Luke" being another favourite of mine.
This is one of those unassuming movies and my god I'm glad it watched it, definitely up there on my list now. Just reading through IMDb before posting this and apparently it did terrible in sales, which is a massive shame as its an incredibly well done film with some great talent, i cannot recommend it enough
The High Schooler's Guide to College Parties (2015)
Surprisingly good
i never expect much of movies these days as I've been burned so many times, so i always go in expecting the worse. This is a pretty decent film for what it is. The cast for the most part are likable (except the older sister who i couldn't stand), the locations while not outrageously exciting or exotic, provide just enough to make do. There's bits of nudity so cant complain there, the odd funny scene and wtf/awww yeah moment. That said there's some sound issues where the sound will just go skitzo, luckily this isn't a common occurrence so can be over looked. I think if this had a big budget it could be truly epic. So on that basis i give it a 10/10 based on it being a B-movie. There's way way worse to spend a couple of hours, believe me
The Founder (2016)
Fascinating Story but full of sly shady underhanded business tactics.
Started this moving with high anticipation of seeing a happy up-beat movie about how a fast food joint became one of the largest fast food venues in the world. Instead i saw a pr**k constantly deceive the McDonald brothers and screw them over. So p*ssed off its literally made me write this review. The movie deserves a 9/10 its easy to follow and makes a lot of sense. It's seems realistic to the era it was set in and the characters are portrayed well. I don't have any real problems with the movie itself. It's Ray f***ing Kroc that i have beef with. Yes he might of been the one to turn it into a multi- million dollar business and take it all over the country, but he f***ed over the McDonald brothers so bad. From breaking contracts, taking the McDonald's name and brand for himself. Constantly pushing the boundaries and pushing them into a corner where they are effectively forced into taking a measly $1m each. Ray Kroc has got to be the biggest c*nt I've ever seen. At first i was actually happy for the guy, he saw the restaurant and had a passion and wanted to expand, then when he was in he snaked his way through it deceiving and manipulating every situation so he benefits. I know he's dead now but f*** you Ray Kroc
Now You See Me 2 (2016)
Holy crap, this blew my mind
Like every movie these days in go in with the same old scepticism, not expecting much and with a few hours to kill while the fallout 4 download kills the bandwidth i decide now was a good time as to watch this.
ACTORS -- I knew nothing about this movie before going in so was pleasantly surprised to see Jesse Eisenberg in there, followed with James Franco, the girl.... i cant remember the name of but I've seen her somewhere before. of course they had Daniel Radcliffe in there too (man its weird seeing him act as an adult and not a kid). Definitely a good cast. This actually made me more interested as i liked the actors other work.
CHARACTERS -- The characters are mostly great, i really like Jesse's character kind of relate-able. James's character was also interesting and had some good depth to it. The girl was annoying for the most part, and the other guy, i didn't really understand. One of the biggest surprised characters for me was the FBI agent, he was so bad-ass, when i found out he was part of the horsemen that shook up the ground work. Daniels character was definitely one of the best characters in the movie in how hes a pure mastermind (well he thinks he is) and is so cocky about everything. His dad is a pure knob. that's all there is to say about him.
LOCATIONS -- A lot of the movies locations are great, my personal favourite was of course the Las Vegas type city. Whats not to love. The China location was okay but kinda bland and boring. A surprising weird place (in the sense of what transpired there) was the cube room with the massive computer).
STORYLINE -- Story was pretty much easy to follow, the odd time i had to rewind a bit to see what i missed and a couple of times was confusing but at the end a lot of things get cleared up and fills in the missing pieces. the story-line with Morgan Freeman confused me most, one minute he was a good guy, next he was a bad guy, then a good guy? good luck trying to figure that out.
INTERESTING PARTS -- Some particular interesting parts for me where, the ending, the part where there in the room with the massive computer after they've stolen the chip and have to hide it from security, so they sneakily pass it around amongst themselves, flip it between hands and all kinds of craziness. The fight scene with the FBI agent was another great scene where you see this unassuming guy whoop like 10 guys asses and save Jesse's character.
ENDING -- Wow, is literally what i said, i don't think a movie ending has ever surprised me this much. From the story-line something was obviously building up but seemed like it failed then boom, id love to tell you what happened, but then it wouldn't have the same impact. The explanation and flashbacks do a great job filling in the blanks and showing how the big reveal was executed.
RATING -- 10/10 - an incredibly interesting movie to watch, everything had me glued to this movie, down from the crazy card tricks right up to the big finale. This should definitely be on your watch list.
The Five-Year Engagement (2012)
A huge disappointment
Where do i begin. OK, first of all, the acting is terrible. This is as bad as some B movies, even Jason Segel was awful (although hes good in How i met your mother). Then there's the voices. Listening to these people talk made me want to shoot myself in the face. There so f*cking annoying. Now maybe your thinking "oh im sure it makes up for it in comedy"... WRONG!!! this movie is barely funny. You get a couple of laughs but that's it. The best part of the movie is the little rap about all of Tom's (Jason Segel) girlfriends.
oh and lets not forgot its over 2 hours long. Do yourself a favor and don't waste 2 hours of your life watching this garbage.
2/10
Airborne (2013)
An amazing movie
I went into this not expecting much, however after 20 minutes or so i was lost in this movie. There is so many twists to the story you are constantly on the edge of your seat trying to work out who the killer is. *SPOILER* I was shocked when i learned the vase was the cause of it, yet another amazing twist in this movie.*/SPOILER* Not sure is this was filmed on a set or a real plane, but if it was a set they did an excellent job. The acting was fairly good, there was the odd character that wasn't that good, that being said the movie turned out amazing. If your a fan of horror movies or movies that keep you on the edge of the seat this is for you. I will give this a 9/10
Robotropolis (2011)
bad but gets better
"contains spoilers"
The acting is the worst i have ever seen, Zoe Naylor is by far the worst, she needs to give up acting all together!!!. She shows no emotion when the guy on the football field gets shot. Also the footballers are terrible actors they just walk away, surely you would go see if he's alive, right?
The script is terrible, when the footballer gets shot, Zoe's character stands there and says stuff like "someone has just been shot". I was watching it thinking THANK YOU CAPTAIN OBVIOUS -.-
The scenery in this movie is great, i really enjoyed it. The robots are OK, they could have added a bit more animation to them though. The explosion effects are OK
This film is very boring at the beginning but about 35 minutes through it starts to pick up. Still i would not recommend the movie.
The Maze (2010)
A good film but terrible death scenes
Having just watched this movie I thought I would write a little review. This is a good film its is definitely worth watching, it has a great storyline with little surprises. Although the acting isn't that bad the Scenes where someone gets killed are terrible, even a child could tell the were fake, example when he slits that guys throat the knife doesn't even touch to him, this happens through the movie. These scenes made me lose a bit interest but trust me stick with it because the ending is pretty cool.
In fairness its a movie worth watching, but don't get your hopes up on seeing lots of blood and brutal murders because you ain't gonna see it in this movie Rating 8/10
