Jersey (2022)
A Magnificent Six ! Shahid totally hits this out of the Park !! Outstanding
Initially I was giving this film a miss since it is a remake and I had already known the story. I started watching it only during lunch time. But man, what a film !! What a performance by Shahid Kapoor - A true veteran !!
Teaming up with his father - Pankaj Kapoor was a cherry on the cake !! The boy who played Shahid's son is such a sweetheart ! :)
Mrunal Thakur is outstanding as the motivational wife just like she was in Toofan. She gets only better everytime. I want to see more of her in good films like these.
Suppoting cast, direction, music and story telling is just outstanding!!

Simplicity at its best
Such a simple, warm and gently flowing story. It has a lot of elements such as friendship, emotions, funny situations and their work arounds, amusing village politics. And of course with a lot of depth and soul. Just pure good story telling and that's it !! A rare thing these days. Thank you TVF.
Tonic (2021)

Mandaar (2021)
Disappointed
The trailer repelled me from the beginning but still thought of giving it a try but utterly disappointed.
Good part was the performances, but overusage of expletives and *** scenes was too bad. Don't know what Anirban's irritating character was there for - absolutely unnecessary and rubbish. Could have been better.
Fahaad Faasils - Joji and Irrfan Khan's - Maqbool is a much better Macbeth adaptation.

Honestly ! You should not miss this !
"I don't know whether we are going to succeed. We might fail. But at- least we would have tried " . This dialog expressed with subtle emotions and a great sense of maturity by one of the actors speaks volumes. And it's just not simply a line from a film uttered by one of the actors . There are various dimensions to it.
How many of us take that one chance ? To leave everything aside,to set out on a journey just for the love of what we want to do,without knowing where we might end up.We face challenges, things do not always work out.Sometimes we are on the verge of contemplating whether we had taken the right call. But we still go on,guided by sheer passion, devotion, love and dedication.
"Badha Chal !!Chala Chal".This is what the film portrays.A little googling up will get you articles about the film which reveals that the director himself faced similar challenges.Stuck up with a monotonous 9-6 IT job, with the love for cinema, with a burning passion to make films, not being able to find a producer and then finally leaving aside materialistic dreams and pleasures and pooling a huge sum of personal savings behind the film is what this valiant young director did.The story does not end here. The film footage caught a lab fire and quite a bit was destroyed. Finally with the grace of God this was digitally restored.
Today just like the characters in the film with no business cards,no infrastructural setups or past experiences, here is a film from the debutant director. In an industry dominated by commercialism here is a gem of an independent feature film screening across theatres just next to a Bourne Legacy,A rising Dark Knight and some Gangs from Wasseypur.
This is a remarkable feat! All this shows in the film and it deeply moves you. Why? Because it's straight from the heart. With not an extra moment wasted on making subplots or concocted character sketching ,over-dramatization,this film moves at a pace keeping you engrossed all the while, identifying yourselves with the characters, befriending them and becoming a part of their world, emotions and struggle. The simplicity of this film is what stands out and gives it a distinct USP.
A fantastic film from Hemant Kumar Gaba and team ,this surely sends far reaching ripples in the new wave that has struck Indian Cinema.
Madly Bangali (2009)
Certainly Not to be missed
One of my friends suggested me to watch this film and I thank him from the bottom of my heart for that, else I would have missed out an extremely well scripted,well-crafted cinematic gem.Being a film-explorer I watch almost all kinds of films of various genres, from various countries and various ages and I am pretty surprised after watching this. This one certainly stands out.
'Madly Bangali',one of the finest films that I have watched, is not just a film.It is an experience. This film is about a group of youngsters, from eclectic backgrounds, in their late teens-early 20's, and their struggling rock band named 'Madly Bangali'.They share an extremely strong bond of friendship with Bobby(Lew Hilt),an indebted English man in his late 50's who runs a garage which serves as the place where the band practices. One day Bobby's friend San Banerjee (Anjan Dutta) drops by and offers to mentor this group of youngsters. The rest of the film is all about the journey of these passionate souls, their life evolving around music, love, friendship, emotions, phases in their relationship with people ,friends and family etc and various incidents which affects them and people around them. Kudos to Anjan Dutta for coming up with such a brilliant script. The best part is the treatment of this film. One can clearly make out that a major source of inspiration behind each and every frame of this film is life itself and how closely the director must have studied it to envision it.An extremely mature character sketch ,spectacular performances by all the actors,an eye catching sense of detail, editing and yes of course youthful and soulful music and lyrics makes this a delightful watch.A visual poetry with lots of life, extremely well crafted, this one is surely a treat for lovers of quality cinema.
