Onward (2020)
Please please please a sequel or even a prequel
I adore this film, I've seen it 20 or so times and each time there's more to see, it's a delight.
There's so much potential to expand, Pixar are crazy slotting this in its one off movie category like Soul, which pales in comparison.
I'm not going to write spoilers but will recommend everyone watch it and like me they'll want to see more.
Virgin River (2019)
Disappointed
Really goes off piste with the storyline, the books are wonderful and detailed. Whomever chose to tell Mels former life in flashbacks needs sacking, they're really poorly done for a start and incorrect. The introduction of additional characters is unnecessary; better time could have been spent on the main actors formulating the back story. The only thing I would recommend are the actors. They made good choices.
I do know people that haven't read the books finding it enjoyable because they have no comparison. I'd say read the books avoid the programme.
Swimming with Men (2018)
Feel good film.
Watched this with an open mind because I'm not an huge Rob Brydon fan. I'm now converted; along with the brilliant Jim Carter and Rupert Graves, the rest of the cast perform so well together in circumstances I would never dream of seeing them.
It's life affirming that our actors are prepared to do anything to entertain us, showing skills not normally viewed. I spent the whole film smiling and the ending is unexpectedly laugh out loud funny.
Backyard Wedding (2010)
Sleep inducing.
I only watched this because it is the run up to the William and Kate's Royal Wedding; and our TV's are being bombarded with romantic wedding films. The majority have been average to good. This one sunk to the lowest of lows. I agree with the previous reviewer, it is so dragged out, it appears the actors have forgotten the script and are gap filling. The brides father is the worst actor EVER and the remaining cast aren't much better, including Alicia Witt. The director must have been going through a really bad time in their life and gave a halfhearted effort. I wouldn't watch this again, even if paid large amounts of money. I don't think anyone should be married to anyone in this film, in fact they shouldn't even be acting together !
