The Peace Tree (2005)
Should be seen in every school!
When I discovered The Peace Tree on television, a few years, ago, I was THRILLED! Not only because I had once, as a child, envisioned that such a tree should exist in the world, but as the founder of Artists Against Racism, I was thrilled that someone as brilliant as director Mitra Sen went ahead and made this tree a reality!
A tree which includes symbols from every religion and faith--imagine that! A tree which shows children to respect all faiths, religions and cultures as equal--imagine that? Then imagine someone visionary enough to turn this idea into a film, someone who is a school teacher plus filmmaker! It couldn't get better than that!
Needless to say, I found this a phenomenal film which should be mandatory view for kids in every elementary school, and I hope it spreads far and wide. Such a film should be seen in every school, on every airline, and at Christmas each year (though Peace Tree Day is in June!).
I believe it would help bring peace to the world, starting with youths, our future, and its Producer, Mitra Sen, should win a Nobel Prize! Bravo Mitra!!
Just a Little Red Dot (1997)
A Gem of a Movie
When I saw A Little Red Dot several years ago, I was amazed. Who would have written such a brilliant plot other than a teacher and filmmaker? Even better, this plot was based on a true event which happened in her class! As the Director/Founder of Artists Against Racism, I was doubly impressed. Great plot, great acting, great cinematography.
This film about children trying to transcend the racism they learned from their parents is one-of-a-kind, and quite important for all children to see. I founded Artists Against Racism specifically to teach children about racism, about what is right, what is wrong (all racism), and how to spot racism and prevent it.
This film is the best one in this category that I've found for children so I can't say enough good about it. It's perfect, it's realistic, and kids can learn volumes from it while watching a great film.
