Black Lightning (2018)
It's...okay
Not great but not terrible. The more I watch it though, the more I hate the layers the family has throughout the show. They're just hypocrites that think their own personal agendas are what everyone should follow but every family's somewhat dysfunctional. The albino villain in a nice change but his boss is a terrible actress. About the racism undertones people talk about, I get where they're coming from but it's not a Paul Mooney performance. It just highlights a few topics in black communities. Relax. Overall, it's okay but won't get awards worth mentioning.
Rogue One (2016)
Forgettable, Vader saves this 'plain white bread' of a movie
I couldn't remember one characters name after watching this movie, other than Darth Vader, Leia, and Tarkin but that's because I love the original trilogy.
Plot: a girl tries to stop the construction of the Death Star her father didn't want to make.
There's a lot of nostalgia in this movie that makes you excited but anything new was just weak and boring. There were scenes in the trailers that weren't even in the movie. Why? What happened? If you are a big enough fan you knew everyone was going to perish in the end. But even knowing this, I didn't care about any of these new characters. Any backstory gets glossed over quickly. One really good scene was when the main antagonist goes to Darth Vader's castle and it shows how intimidating Darth Vader can be, but still who doesn't know this by now?
Saving grace: Darth Vader's 30 second scene at the end where he's kicking ass like the boss he is.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
Lazy writing, useless characters, dream sequences, emails, random unexplained moment that don't get answered
First off I don't think Zack Snyder's a good director, he should be a cinematographer. He has scenes that are visually stunning but they don't tell you anything important. They show shots of Superman doing random hero acts when they could be fleshing out Batman or Wonder Woman. And Lex Luthor is not Lex Luthor from the comics, it's his son? It's just Jesse Eisenburg doing an impression of the Joker, such a waste of a character and an actor. His purpose for hating Superman is because he hates God for not saving him from his abusive father, I think? The flashback/ dream sequences become easily irritating. You think something interesting is happening and then...nope it was all a dream. There's a scene with the Flash and I was the only one who knew watching this scene because I watched the JL TV show growing up. If you didn't, it will never be explained by the end. Lois Lane is such a useless character in this movie. She's Superman's girlfriend living with him. She investigates an unusual bullet tied to Lex Luthor and then...nothing, it's never mentioned again nor does it effect the outcome. Then she moronically takes the last bit of Kryptonite and dumps it into a random pool only to get trapped and get Superman to save her and get his one weakness she dropped into the water. Wonder Woman's in here. If that seemed random, it will be watching this.If you didn't know who Wonder Woman was going into this, you'd have no idea who she was after the movie. Also Bruce Wayne sends her an email with other superhero footage in them. Why? To set up the next movie. Doomsday is a major DC villain who is in this movie for ten minutes. They battle him, everything's rushed, he dies while killing Superman. If you knew who Doomsday was going into this, you probably expected the death of Superman, no surprise. Only scene I liked was when Batman saves Superman's mom. No dialogue, just pure action. It was rushed, confusing to people who don't read comics, and is purely here to set up the next Justice League movie. Again, Snyder makes things look great, but he can't put a script on the screen. Overall...meh.
Suicide Squad (2016)
Dull yet random, cheesy, predictable
Plot: government sends out common criminals to hunt down a powerful supernatural force.
Just waiting for the Joker to show up most of the time, and when he does it's kinda disappointing.
Again, this is another movie with too many characters that haven't been fleshed out enough to give a crap about them. Yeah you see Deadshoot and Harley's pasts but what about everyone else? They just kinda quickly gloss over them like an athletes stats card.
Wouldn't be surprised if most of this movie's budget was based on music and makeup. A lot of good hits but man did they feel cluttered throughout the movie. And Killer Croc may have scored this movie an Oscar, but it still just looks like a guy with a lot of makeup.
Overall: weak story, mild characters, great music, typical hero ending making it predictable.
Terminator Genisys (2015)
Not Great but Good
For starters I love the Terminator movies, even parts of Salvation. I did like a good chunk of this movie but certain things kind of set me off. For starters, Jai Courtney. This guy has to stop acting now. Kyle Reese was a somewhat Vietnam veteran but for Judgement Day. He was thin, had scars, and was always on his guard. Jai Courtney is a muscular, monotone, extra serious character and sleepy character, and therefore is the opposite of Kyle. He plays the same character in every movie is was horribly miscast. Emilia Clarke was a decent Sarah Connor. However there were parts that seemed she didn't seem to be playing Sarah well. Finally, the promotion. Whoever spoiled 3/4 of the movie needs to be fired!!! Jon Connor is the villain and not only the villain but a Terminator?! C'mon. **They clearly wanted to start a new trilogy when Kyle and Sarah time traveled to 2017 on the highway. Plus, what was Arnold doing all those years while waiting for them? Arnold did an awesome job as usually, but I wish they could have worked in his normal biker-glasses look somewhere. The one scene the touched me was when Arnold sacrificed himself and right before being destroyed shed a tear. So, Jai Courtney should never act after this, possibly find a new Sarah, and create a stronger plot without focusing on the amount of random action.
That '70s Show (1998)
Started Strong, Ended Weak
Loved most of the cast and could relate to most. However the one consistent character/actor I couldn't stand was Donna/Laura Prepon. The combination of her bad acting and forced relationship with Eric annoyed me every episode. She would laugh at every line or would take things a little too seriously. They should've just fired her. Then there's Randy/ Josh Meyers. Ugh. I understand the writers trying to replace Eric's character but this was a bad idea. He was as funny as warm milk. He just goes to the Grooves shop, gets a job, and that's how he's introduced. He then started dating Donna, again another forced relationship. At this point of the show (Season 8), it should've just never existed. After the two main characters left, the studio clearly focused more on profits rather than just ending on a happy note. Eventually Hyde, Fez, Jackie, and Forman's parents were all that kept this show moving on to the bitter end. By Season 8, the main characters were either moving out , getting married, getting jobs, in other words, they grew up. The story went from kids growing up in the 70's to average middle class adults in the 70's. Once again, was great in the beginning, but once the two top characters left, they should've just cashed out.
Satisfaction (2014)
Interesting Plot
This show is off to a good start. It gives a totally different scenario as to what a man would do if he caught his wife sleeping with another guy. Instead the main character tries to understand the root of what caused this spontaneous attack on his marriage. Every time the show comes on I want to know when and if he'll confront his wife about the truth. He keeps giving his wife a chance to admit she cheated but she just denies anything is wrong. It's a great show to watch as the character journeys down a new road in his life.
The only scenario I don't like is when a guy quits his job, and then his boss decides to promote him to partner. That just made me go "come on".
The guy doesn't want to loose his wife or connection with his daughter. He really does care for them. I like the idea of him going to get advice from a Zen Master about right and wrong of what he's doing with what he knows.
Can't wait to see what happens next Thursday.
